large flat spot between camino and laguna, at an altitude of just under 3200m, perfect for an overnight stop, beautifull views, beside the road, but only little traffic during the day, none at night. Coming from Chile (and most likely from the argentina side also), do not forget to tell at the border post gendarmes that you plan an overnight stop, because they report all cars to the other side and if you dont arrive there the same day they come looking for you - only for your own security...

Very beautiful mountains in many colors, especially right before sunset. The spot is quite exposed - no wind protection at all. Great location to spend the night in between countries and on top of the world!
(Don't forget to plan ahead: tell the authorities you'll be staying for the night: they actively keep track of who passes the border. The Argentinians mailed the Chileans a picture of our car.)
If you'd like access to the water: there's another spot 2 kms towards Chili. It's closer to the road and does not offer as good a view. It might be less windy.
