Description

A small opening in a pine grove. Room for 2 vehicles. Very quiet and peaceful. Cannot be seen from the main road. Free. Look for a collection of dirt campsites right on the main road. Behind these sites there's a dirt road that continues up through the forest. After 25 meters on this dirt road you'll find a clearing that is perfect for a night and can't be seen from the main road.

Beautiful spot at the base of the volcano! Pretty trees, nice and cool. No noise from the road and no one bothered us. Very nice spot :)

Although not very level, this was such a quiet and peaceful spot that we spent two nights here. Best part about this spot is that your completely hidden from the main road.

there are multiple possibilities to camp along this street. we stayed two nights at a big clearing to catch some sun for our solar panels. zero traffic at night, area patrolled by police during daytime, at night it seems the gates are closed also for thru traffic. the hike up to La Malinche is beautiful.

Like others have said. It's a beautiful place in the pine forest. We tucked ourselves away in a corner because the trail a bit further from the road looked too narrow for our VW Crafter L2H2. We saw smoldering bushes, not sure if it was lit on purpose, so be very careful to light a fire. Hiked La Malinche with our dog, 5hrs up, 3hrs down.

This was a nice spot to camp, we did keep going down the road past the first clearing and parked at the second spot not visible from the road. A bit tricky to get level and there was TP everywhere but it was good and had a quiet night.

Moved to a different spot in the park for our second night, but this time had a visit from the police at 7pm saying it’s not safe we can’t camp here. So we had to break the rules of not driving at night at find somewhere out of the park to camp in the dark, that was fun. I guess we got away with it the first night cause they probably just didn’t see us camped where we were. I guess camping here isn’t allowed anymore??

As described, small clearing in the pines. Not super level, but there are rocks around to help level. Spotty H+(2G) cell coverage, can get texts out/in randomly. Nice trails all around the area. We picked up a decent amount of plastic trash, please do the same!

As others have said, great spot! Was wonderful to get out in nature and avoid the weekend crowds. We spent a quiet night here amongst the pine forest, nobody bothered us. You can hear a little road noise, but it slows down at night. Definitely drive to the upper camp spot, completely hidden by the road and we were able to have a little campfire. Easy enough to level out if you have blocks. We picked up some trash left here by other campers, please help keep this place clean and free! Recommended.

What a awesome spot! After visiting some cities, we needed a camp spot in the middle of nature. We spent 3 days and saw absolutely no soul. The only sounds you will hear are the trees waving in the wind, and birds whistling their songs.
There is a possibility to make a pit fire, but bring your own wood, as the one here is humid...
It is free, you just have to give your name at the park entry.

I am in pine tree heaven. The spot on gps was occupied so I am down a bit. I managed to get far enough from the road to be almost unseen. Pulled in enough to disconnect the car and was able to move rv around easily. Super quiet at night. Most spots have cars in them on the weekend. I was lucky to find this one. Weekdays most are empty. Longer, RV'S may have difficulty moving around the trees. I managed very easily in a 25' Class C Rv with a disconnected car. Both cats and the dog are loving it here. Walking trails all over. Some bits of garbage but not bad.

This was a great spot for a night or two. We did have a visit by the police. Just checking on us. They were okay with the dogs, but not thrilled. We left them in the truck while they were there.
We did spot MANY camping spots along this road. With further exploration there may be flatter locations to choose from.
We fit in here with a tall truck camper.
