Description

If you like sandboarding this could be a place to go. Or just have look on this huge dune between rocky hills.
The parking is close to the village but not visible from the street. So camping without any amenities is an option (that we didn't try).

The dune face you can sandboard down is acrually a lot less high than 90m, but long enough to put in 2 to 3 nice turns.
Make sure to rent sandboards which have adaptable velcro straps.

Very nice place. The view on the desert with 4000 m summits behind is absolutely magnificient.
We camp here for one night. Easy access with our 2WD van. As described, the night was peaceful and with millions of stars.

I recommend. Camping alone with the wind and the stars and the fox.

Great place to spend some time. Kids enjoyed indeed, the sandboarding is more of a gimmick, but fun to see people eating heaps of sand.
Over confident visitors getting stuck in the sand, and a quiet night right next to the dune with a million stars.
What's not to like..

To get right at the dune you need 4x4, on a small road from the parking lot. Some soft patches of sand. Exit is more flat, don't try to go back the same way..

Large sand dune 90 m high. It is lost in the middle of the stone dunes, but the view from above is worth the detour. You can rent surfs in Fiambala, tourism can direct you to the shops that rent it. Do not take the small boards they sink into the sand. And a little advice to rent a surf per person because riding the dune several times is exhausting. smart

Boards can be rent @hotel San Pedro in Fiambala (250 pesos per day). The sand hill is hidden behind rocky hills. Sand very hot during the afternoon. Nice for the kids.
