Description

3 km from gate 5. Lovely campground at a rancho. Lots of space. Easy to park your rig and Visit in the region. Nice toilet blocks and good hot showers.

Very friendly and helpful owners. Omar organises circus events. The campground is owned by his Mother, a retired doctor. The guard is the cousin, he and his wife sell very good jams from a kind of nogales (cactus fruit).

We found Omar to be very responsive on WhatsApp.

Report Check-In

This is a very great place to stay, either to visit Teotihuacan, or to leave your car here for a trip to Mexico City.
Omar and his family are really great people, nice and help you whereever they can.
The place is clean, the showers are hot, this place is really recommended

Report Check-In

+52 55 1046 9697 Omar's #.
Omar and Julia are wonderful hosts. As described. 250 pesos for 2 people one rig. They have hotel rooms as well. Omar arranged a balloon trip for less than advertised prices we saw. It included pick up here, balloon ride , buffet breakfast, a tour of a maguey/ obsidian factory, and a visit to the ruins! If you are not interested in spending another 2000 pesos on the pictures they take of you at the balloons, tell them to leave you alone when they start photo shooting. We wish we had. The photographer really detracted from the trip. obnoxious!
Yes, not really quiet at night. But a really nice, large place. Great toilet block. You can drink the water. Omar said it's from an underground aquifer.

Report Check-In

We had a great experience here. Omar is such a kind host and rates are very affordable. The turn into the property was a bit tight with our 24' trailer so he opened up a back gate for us -- although longer trailers than ours might still have a tough time.
We stayed a few nights and also stored the vehicles here for 3 nights while we visited Mexico City (we scheduled an Uber ride both ways, worked great).
Felt very safe and secure.
We enjoyed the dogs and the burro and overall there's just a great vibe here!

Report Check-In

If no one answers the knock at the door, wait and try again. Beautiful piece of land with a locked gate.

Omar and his mom are lovely. The three dogs are sweet! There are now three puppies. Small and active as of October 2023 — they did bark a lot during the night

As noted previously the train is LOUD and comes at all hours of the night !!! Not a great place if you need good sleep

It was cloudy the day I arrived = no hot water :(

250 pesos for a truck with a camper, myself and my dog. Ps all the dogs got along well.

Report Check-In

(+525510469697)

Report Check-In

Can’t say much more than the comments below, great place/facilities and friendly owners/dogs. We camped (2 people) in a tent with our bicycles for 200pesos. Only downside, perhaps due to our thin tent walls and lack of a decent earplugs, was the train track nearby and their horns during the night.

Report Check-In

Beautiful large open grassy area that is beside their home. Omar and his mom are lovely. Clean bathrooms and very helpful. Loved their friendly dogs .

Report Check-In

we spent a few peaceful days at Rancho Viejo!
The place is quiet and clean. Omar family is really nice and helpful.
they have 4 dogs who are really sweet!
we really enjoyed the stay. @julienandnoemie

Report Check-In

We arrived and parked our vehicle for 3 days to visit Mexico City. It was no problem at all to park our vehicle and we felt very safe.
After we returned, we spent three more nights at the campsite from Julia and her son Omar.
We needed a locksmith for our vehicle and they arranged an experienced locksmith who solved our problem.
We felt very safe and welcome the whole time.
Many thanks to Julia and Omar.

Report Check-In

Wonderful tranquil place, great big yard to relax...we didn't expect to find something so nice this close to CDMX. Great hosts.
Still 250$ per night (2 people in a van)

Report Check-In

on recommande.

Report Check-In

As described: very loveley place with Julia and her son Omar as owners. with a great hospitality. At night there is traffic noise. we stay here a few days and visit the Pyramid and the village ( go there!). and it was very secure to leave our van for 150 pesos a day when we were 3 days in Mexico Ciudad.

Report Check-In

The best campground experience during our 6 months travelling the US and Mexico. Omar and Julia are wonderful people and excellent hosts. We spent 3 days here and also left the van for 4 nights while we were visiting Mexico City. It is beautiful, safe and clean. Close to the village and the pyramids. We felt like home.

Report Check-In

Loved this place! Everything as said below. Plus they have a really nice trampoline and a little soccer pitch which our kids really enjoyed. We paid $300 for 2 adults and 2 kids.

Report Check-In

We stayed 3 days instead of 1 and would have loved to stay longer! It is such a wonderful and peaceful place. The host Omar and his mother are extremely helpful and friendly. He lit a fire in the evening and we spent a nice evening with other Overlanders.
Omar speaks good English.
There are clean toilets and hot showers. You can get water and electricity and waste bins but no dump. Wifi (weak) is provided at the terrasse.
The place has a locked gate and Omar gave us a key, so that we could get in and out as we wanted.
We payed 250$ per day which is a very reasonable price for such a great location.
There are 3 dogs, cats and chickens, all nice and friendly.
It is only a short drive (3 km) to gate 5 of the pyramids. There is a good parking place and you enter directly behind the pyramid of the sun.
We can very highly recommend this place!!

Report Check-In

Great place to stay if you want to visit the arqueological sites around and take a trip down to Mexico city. It's a nice grassy flat area, clean toilet and shower (nice and hot), there's a dinning area with electricity and plenty of tables and chairs. Pet friendly, they also have 3 very nice dogs.
Omar is a great host, on the night we arrived he made a camp fire and invited all the guests staying on the park to join, it was a great experience and a beautiful way to get to know other people.
The next day we went to Mexico city and left our Van parked here for 4 more days. Omar drove us to the bus station, gave us instructions about the route, lend us a map from the town and a metro card.
We even asked if we could have a package delivered to the campground which they answered positively.
We would have loved to stay longer but we have a tight schedule, we can only recommend it, and will certainly come back in the future.

Report Check-In

Perfect place. They have clean toilets, a warm shower, a dump station (you need a 2m pipe) and clean water to fill your RV. I drank the water and 5 days later I still drink it without montezuma visiting me. But the best is the super nice and helpful host Omar. He knows the area and provides a great experience.

Report Check-In

A great place to stay for some days. Hit showers, WLAN and very friendly owner and his mother wo lives here. The owner showed us how to eat fruit from the cactus and gave us a bag. He showed some artistic stuff to our son (14). I would strongly recommend this place.

Report Check-In

This place looks good. we stopped just to ask if they have a dump station we can use, the owner was so nice and said no problem, for the price to just dump he said tips so gave him 50 pesos. To stay there for the night it's 250 pesos, very clean showers and toilets and the field is very nice.

Report Check-In

Awesome place! The family are wonderfully friendly and they even invited us to watch their fantastic circus show. They also allowed us to leave our van their for $150 per night whilst we went to Mexico City. It’s $250 to sleep.

Report Check-In

Very nice campground with very friendly hosts and fun dogs! Quite a noisy night in our tent from the highway traffic and passing trains, but woke up to a lovely show of hot air balloons that liftoff nearby. As reported, hot showers are off due to stolen solar water heater 😒.

Report Check-In

As described below. $250mxn per night. Omar was completely friendly and hospitable. Stayed 4 nights, saw the piramids but much of the Palacios are closed presumably for the pandemic as are the museums. Drinking water is abundantly available. We filled our 20 gallon tanks three time but had to do it out of garafon bottles he had on site. At first we treated it with chlorine like we do all our water not RO purified but after Omar’s insistence that it is perfectly fine to drink I took his word for it. 3 days and no issues. Since someone stole their solar water heaters from the roof of the baños they have only cold showers but bathrooms are clean and supplied with TP. We stayed over the weekend and many locals came for yoga classes. The volunteer fire dept is doing rescue drills. All the folks are so friendly and kind. Hardly noticed the trains and traffic from the highway at all in the van. Great people. Recommend staying here. Oh and dog friendly too. Super place to stay.
Also Julia, Omar’s mother offered us free dinner she cooked for the yoga group in their comedora.

Report Check-In

This place is really beautiful. Quiet at night, with toilets, hot showers, electricity and a place with tables and chairs. Such a welcoming family and a really good place to stay.

Report Check-In

This was such a nice place to relax. The road coming in from the main road was great and big rig capable. Nice gravel road to establishment. Got here and was free ain’t Omar and his mom Juliana. Very hospitable and cost was a little high 250p/night but safe, hot showers, generous space. Planning to stay for a couple days and see the pyramids

Report Check-In

Great place to stay about a 30min walk to the pyramids (straight line walking basically).
open during the pandemic and great infrastructure
Hot showers and large open area grass area to camp.
Mild highway noise way in the background, birds take the foreground.
Locked gates during the whole day and Omar and Julia are great hosts.

Report Check-In

beautiful spot nearish the pyramids. outside of town so fairly quiet except some highway noise. friendly family. hot solar showers perfect for evening use, clean bathrooms and huge flat are that could hold 8-10 rigs. price is 250/rig which is okay for families, since I'm alone I negotiated to get a 3 course dinner included.

Report Check-In

We had an incredibly nice time with Omar & Julia. 30 min. walk to the pyramids. We could park our camper during our stay in Mexico City. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

Good place to stop for the night. Near ruins. Omar and his mother took great care of us and even referred us to a mechanic for our car troubles. safe and mostly quiet (there are trains nearby that can be heard at times).

Report Check-In

Great place to make a stop. We came for 1 night & stayed 5. Julia & her son Oman were very welcoming & friendly. They helped us navigate our way via public transport for a day in the city. Large, flat cut grass area to camp on. Covered area with tables & chairs for dining. Clean bathrooms, hot showers, fenced & secured. We highly recommend this place. Oman speaks English. The fresh water spring underground filled our tanks. 30 min walk to Pyramids. There is train & highway sounds, but the good outweighed the bad.
We paid 250p p/night. Wifi is free & strength varies.

Report Check-In

Awesome spot, surrounded by cactus trees, very quiet, hot showers, 250$M per night
Dirty access road but short and very manageable
Omar is a friendly man who can help for anything
Ask him to fill tank or garrafones with good potable water
Pyramides are only 2 km away, 10min with our bikes (dirt road and small streets in the village, very easy and without high traffic roads), plan to be at 9am at the entrance to be almost alone in the site
Some abbarotes and tacos stands in the village, and a panaderia

Great campground with grassy spots, trees for shade and your hammock, very clean bathrooms, super friendly host.

Report Check-In

we're so happy we decided to go here. the owners are the best hosts we've had in mexico. we were able to get in with a 32' travel trailer and pickup, although it was a little tight in the entrance. the dogs were very friendly and got along with our dog. the showers were super hot, clean, and wonderful. the internet was intermittent and very slow, as usual. but seriously, the hosts make this one of the best places to stay in mexico. A+, 5*, two thumbs up.

Report Check-In

Enormous flat lawn enclosed with a locking gate. Campers retain a key. Immaculate showers and restrooms. Descent WiFi at coveted guest terrace. A few friendly dogs on property mostly confined. But the jewel in the crown is Senora Julia she is a very gracious hostess, she assisted us with a ride to the market and a ride to the pyramid. She and her son Omar are very kind and interesting to talk with. They have a spring fed well on the property that provides delicious drinking water. Lastly, the hot air balloons are visible every morning touring the pyramids. Best campground so far.

The entrance to the ranch was well indicated. We arrived here at sunset and no one was home. The gate to the camping was open though and everything was clean. We installed and the owners came by soon enough to welcome us. Perfect little camping with clean bathrooms. The owners were just sweet and showed us all around the site. They are working on setting up a circus school for kids on site! My kids loved looking around the tent and trying out the rings. 200p including electric for the 4 of us. I'd highly recommend it. We only have a small van, but the entrance looked wide enough for large vehicles. We were at teotihuacan within minutes in the morning.

lovely stop for a few nights. plenty of flat space for tents or rigs. v hot showers! covered dinning area and bbq/ fire area. lovely hosts with pretty good English. lots of dogs, but quiet and friendly. near a main road but not too noisy.

Don't use maps.me to navigate in... unless you want to bring your navigator/ driver relationship to a quick end! the roads don't show up. Google maps is good! essentially it's a 2.5km drive directly away from gate 5 and directions as previously stated. 160 for a rtt & 2 people. had a great dinner home cooked for anextra 100 each. yummy!

We stayed at Rancho Viejo for two nights. The owners are extremely kind, friendly, and gracious, the grounds are immaculately kept, hot water is plentiful, and the well taken care of dogs are delightful. We felt extremely comfortable leaving our motorcycles and gear here while we visited San Juan and the Pyramids. Excellent breakfast if you would like, for a reasonable cost (the guava and tuna (cactus fruit) smoothies were amazing). Clean bathrooms, locked gate to sleep behind, and excellent people.

nice place with wonderful grass. owner are super nice people. this spot us new (2017) and they might have a few kinks to work out but I think they will do well.

showers we're crazy hot but could use some glass in the window to keep the cold air out.

we also had quite a few mosquitos invade our van.

we paid $250 pesos for 4 people for the night but they also charged us another $50 for drinking water. probably a bit much considering the location is a bit far from the pyramids.

overall though a nice relaxing spot.
