Since Kukonje island is unreachable at the moment (there is at least 1 meter of water in the pan) I camped on the pebble beach on the shore of the pan/lake which was incredibly beautiful. Flamingos, pelicans, the most awesome sunset and not a human or building in sight all day. No facilities whatsoever of course but also no costs.

Thunderdtorm brewing, no risking driving to Island only to get stranded in pouring rains.
Overnight on pebble beach with horses and gazillion mozzies as company. Very quiet with no passing vehiclez whatsoever.
Kukonje Island is also for us unreachable. We camped at the mean island on the pan where it was dry. More north than the rest of the overlanders did. It is so quite here and the sunset is amazing!
No facilities.
Free camping.
Again much water in the pan so you can't reach Kukonje-Island. But here it was very nice to stay and enjoy the peace and the sunset. The nearby gate was abonded
Report Check-InIt is still the complete pan overloaded here so visiting Kukonje only possible with a boat or by feed.
