Description

Dirt road but no 4x4 or high clearance needed goes up to a nice laguna in a old crater. A footpath leeds around the laguna (on maps it shows only half way, but it goes around), nice butterflies like Monarch and Blue morpho!
A foodstall with snacks, rowingboats, hammocks, tables and benches and firepits (bring wood or charcoal). Very friendly. 1$/pers.

If you are here on a weekend have a coffee at Maculata Coffee Shop uphill. They have a terrasse with a stunning view and one of the most beautiful garden we have ever seen.

Latest Check-Ins

It was a long weekend in Salvador so Ataco and Apaneca were really busy. Stopped at Nubes and Alicante, they were busy as hell. The parking lots were full so decided to come here. It was really crowded with locals. No overlanders though. Just gave a contribution and they guided me where to park. After dark, it got really quite. Banos are o.25c. They open early and should be available. No Duchas though.

Report Check-In

The barrier was closed when we arrived and for entering we were asked for a voluntary contribution. We gave 5$. The place is very peaceful. Policeman came in the evening to tell us they were leaving but told us where to find them if needed.

Amazing place for camping, just go and enjoy nature. Take food and water because in the night you have nothing!

What a beautiful, quiet place. Don‘t miss to visit it if you are in the area. We had no problem to reach it with our rig (6 m long and 3,20 m high). Much police here. We asked them if we can stay overnight and they said no problem and free. Most spots under the trees along the little lake are very unlevel and the branches of the trees were not high enough for us. But if you follow the small road to the right until the end where foot-path around the lake begins, there‘s a very nice and level spot also for one bigger rig. Bring firewood or charcoal, there are some tables and fire-pits. Everything with great view! Stayed two very good nights here. All people are very friendly.

Spent a pleasant night here, quiet, cool, no problems. Bought a couple of beers when we arrived but otherwise didn't pay anything. Locals running the shop were friendly. Police didn't come, as a previous poster mentioned.

Road is fine with 2wd, steepest sections are paved.

Report Check-In

Be sure to take the proper road as described in the previous post
We didn’t check, followed maps.me and it was hard even if we have a 4x4 with small camper
Really nice and quiet place and really super friendly guard

Report Check-In

Access through AHU30N road on maps.me as described by tuckstruck is the way to go. 3.7km up to the Laguna, very steep in some sections but not too bumpy.
The place itself for us was ok for a night, very friendly locals, rather fresh temperature because of altitude and the fog that moves in

Report Check-In

Nice park with elevated tent camping platform, bbq grills, boat rides. Arrived just after dark (6pm) and a few people just leaving but nobody to ask for a bathroom key. No night watchman, as far as I could tell. Felt very safe. Left at 9am and nobody to give money to. VERY steep, rocky road up to the lake via Tulapa.

Report Check-In

Great place. We stayed 2 days & paid a voluntary $5 in total for 2 people. Guard seemed happy with this.
Take the track labelled on maps.me as AHU30N. This is good access. Bit steep in parts and may be a bit slippery when wet, but should be ok with most vehicles. We are 3.3m high and had no problems with the trees.

Report Check-In

The road in/out has some steep, low overhang and narrow sections. At 3.5 meters we were dragging branches. At the camping area there is limited parking for a rig taller than that. However, smaller vehicles would find lovely parking along the shoreline. Everyone is very kind and it is quite peaceful here (when the speaker is turned off). Secure. And a bargain (voluntary donation, we gave $5 for two nights) Dogs okay. Boats available. Could SUP or kayak. Snacks and light food for sale.

Report Check-In

Lovely little spot to spend a night. Voluntary contribution, we paid $2 per person. Very friendly people, little boats you can take out and buce path along the lagoon. Super tranquilo.

Report Check-In

Very nice place to overnight, just as the descreption of randulinas. However we did not need to pay for staying overnight, but we bought some snacks at the little shop! The last 50m is paved but quite steep, so if you have a weak engine and high weight and no low gear, make sure you can get up the hill when leaving!!
