Description

Beautiful backcountry hot springs resort. 1 1/2 hours drive from hwy 200. Turn onto Altavista road and head east from the ocean. At first fork stay right after 45 mins of driving you'll see a sign for the town of La Cucaracha stay right. 10-15 minutes you'll see sign. There are 20 different pools of all different temps. We were the only ones here! $60 pesos per person.

20 different pools, a small hamburger stand and grills throughout the park for cooking. 50 pesos per person to soak and you get a wrist band with the fee printed on it and 50 pesos per person to stay the night. We decided not to stay the night but they offered to let us use one of the pools at night if we stayed. Something to keep in mind , there are large cats in the area (Jaguar like cats). There isn't an established campground so parking out on the street would be it. The road coming in is a bit rough but in our 1 ton truck we made it in about an hour. Beautiful drive through the jungle on an almost cobble stone road. The hot springs and for the most part the road is in a national park. The day we came on a Thursday the park was busy with locals and tourist.

As described! now 60 Pesos/person Camping Free. you can camp on the big parking lot, directly next your pool or like we did, on a grassy spot in the last curve.
Super crowded on long weekends, not so much at night. you get your private pool but make sure it has a good temperature. Every pool was used during the day so they cleaned and filled us a new one which tooks an hour to fill and 2,5 hours to cool down enough to go in. We had a great bath at 22.30.

Now, 50 pesos. C-19 protocols somewhat observed and some pools are drained for distancing.

As described by others. Good road no need for high clearance, in the dry season we made it in our 21ft rv. 50 pesos per person per day and another 50 pesos per person per night to park or camp. Parking area is above the pools and nice and flat, very quiet of a night time,
Not sure if there is a security guy that walks around but felt very safe. Don’t follow google maps as it will make you turn on the road beforehand, just keep an eye on iOverlander as you get closer

40 pesos entry fee. Very organised and clean. Good food and beer at cheap price. Road in is challenging but doable on our motorcycles or higher clearance vehicle... don't take your wife's civic.

Great traditional natural pool in the forest! We arrive at 5pm, set up our camp in the parking lot and went for a dip late at night when it’s a bit chilly. 40 MXP
The road is accessible 2WD (high clearance recommended) and took 1h!
