Beautiful spot. Path to river is a little steep, but fine if you’re into castings rod or bathing. Spot at site to turn around a small trailer.

Report Check-In

absolutely 110% take birch road. immediately turn onto the little dirt road. go straight, head forward and left all the way, you'll pass the hydro lines and the access blocked by a tree, then another entrance to a tall forest, keep left. no issues in an audi, pretty well any vehicle could make it if you take it slow. awesome spot. great swim

Report Check-In

As of today, there is a tree blocking access, could not get in. Very narrow in our E-350 van.

Report Check-In

Beautiful, isolated. Crown land. Decent cell coverage on bell and rogers. Best access is from Birch Street. Tight trail leading in. Suitable for smaller vehicles.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot right next to the water. Great for fishing.
Please take all your garbage with you when you leave to keep the spot great for the next people who visit!

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot! We’re in a Leisure Travel RV and it couldn’t make it all the way down to the river - the road was too bumpy and narrow to get there, so we parked in a nice grassy spot about halfway from the entrance off Birch Street and the Riverside Wild Campsite.

Took the Birch Street route to get there. The tracks are just to the right as the street bends to the left. Anything wider than a wide body van wouldn’t make it through.

Report Check-In

Whoa, this place is amazing. Drove to campsite exit off highway, then turned right down first road.
Followed it to the power lines and kept heading east. I got to some soft sand and checked ioverlander and saw I had passed it. Great spot and cool breezes. Crown land, 2 week max stay.
PS: drove in with a sprinter.

Report Check-In

Nice place, but it's a little more than a quad trail to get here and quite steep off the highway. You probably need a 4x4 or all wheel drive and decent clearance to get here.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Didn’t dare to go down the hill from the highway at night seamed too steep for our van. We’re scared to be unable to climb back.

Report Check-In

Really cool spot. As described by others. The riverbank is very steep but there are a couple paths down. Also the entrance is quite steep so sufficient clearance is required.

Report Check-In

The highway entrance is a bit tricky to spot and slow down for when there's a lot of traffic, so I'd recommend taking the track from Birch Street. If you want the spot closer to the river, it's best to scout it out on foot to check your car can fit and there's no one already occupying the space, since turning around isn't really possible. However, there are infinite nice spots next to the woods along the service road. We actually parked closer to the Birch Street end and found the trees blocked out most of the road noise overnight. Not much of a view but still a good spot to stay :)

Report Check-In

We didn't attempt to take our van along the last stretch of laneway to the pictured campsite by the river. It rained a lot last night and there were big mud holes where other vehicles had made their way out this morning. We chose a site overlooking the river where there was an existing firepit. The highway is very close, so lots of road noise. Good for one night though.

Report Check-In

Nice spot with a makeshift kitchen. I was able to get in with a truck camper (24ft total length) but it was tight, certainly wouldn't try with anything bigger. There is garbage here and there and a gross bush toilet. Otherwise quite nice. No bugs when we were here. Plenty of wood around for a fire. 👍

Report Check-In

... yeah, not for us.
drove our 18 ft (SMALL) rv off the side of the highway and completely scraped the back end.
the dirt road in was densely forested & filled with water.

we somehow backed up, turned around, scraped the front and back end of the curb again onto the highway (people go between 100-120 here, be CAREFUL).

definitely not worth the trouble to us unless you had a 4x4 lifted truck.

Report Check-In

Awesome spot! We used the highway entrance with juiceycow’s coordinates, turned left at the first fork and then turned the first path right into the forest. You get to the spot where someone built a sink. I think someone mentioned that in a n earlier review. You definitely hear the highway and can see trucks passing by but it’s still a lovely spot right by the river.

Report Check-In

Had trouble finding it using the directions in the post. It was late so I decided to keep going for the next spot. I believe the correct turn is the first left (heading eastbound) after the Sand Bay road rest stop

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot. Lots of trees and lots of little trails into the woods to choose from. There are countless spots to park for the night or pitch a tent. We lost our tail pipe so if you don’t have the best clearance then watch out. **Some litter from locals dumping.. it’s sad to see as that kind of behaviour ruins these spots for all!

Report Check-In

This spot was a little harder to find, but that’s what makes these spots even better.
Once we got there only one other vehicle came in but noticed us and left right away.
We spent the night but definitely a spot you could enjoy a few days.
Compared to some of the other locations we’ve been in the bugs were nothing, which was a bonus!
Another bonus was the wild blueberries :)
Would stay again if passing through the area.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot to stop for a night or two. The highway is far enough that it isn’t too noisy. Not too many people and lots of privacy. The entrance is easy to miss, but a manageable drive in. Definitely worth a stop

Report Check-In

Perfect place ! We stayed 2 nights it was Perfect ! Just follow the indication and dont be afraid of the road it'not so hard ! But like everyone said, a lot of mosquitos...

Report Check-In

Great hidden spot right on the river.
We used the highway entrance as mentioned by more recent users 46.320870,-81.633790
After a very short drive through the bushes, turn left onto the sand service/fire road that follow's the hydro lines (SW direction).
We passed plenty of spots in the trees (next to the river) that can be used overnight (as others have done) eg 46.315517,-81.648214
We kept going and found the narrow forest entrance at 46.314143,-81.653522
Follow this through the trees and you'll pop out at the site listed here.
At the camp, someone had created a small bench with a sink that drains to the river embankment.
Some fisherman boated by, but other than that we were all alone. Lots of coverage and more private than the sites on the fire road coming in.
Mosquitoes, black flies and no-see-um's were brutal!

Awesome spot by the river. A bit busy though

Report Check-In

Hard to find, but amazing spot.

The spot is really nice ! We were there for one night we had a really good time. Some mosquitos but was ok! Otherwise is pretty hard to find, I attached a picture of the small alley to find the place! You have the coordinates. Data coverage.

Report Check-In

We stopped here last night. It’s a great stop, a small service track that runs alongside the river. We accessed the area from the coordinates given below by Ocon Sc. We area big rig, 11’6” high and 28’ long, we got in, however we are 4wd. There are some low branches . It’s only the first section that is tight, it opens up by the river with plenty of room.
If you are large I would walk the first 50m from the road, if you get through there the rest is fine. Couple of locals passed us and waved, no issues.

Report Check-In

Absolutely beautiful wild camping by a river side. We caught our dinner from the river every day (bass, perch and pike). We also drank the river water after boiling. Dry, open and relatively flat area, easy to establish a nice camp. Sunny spot. Downside is the amount of mosquitoes but we kept them under control with a constant smoky fire and had nice time sitting outside watching the river. There’s a busy highway behind a stretch of forest and road noice is almost constant, otherwise fantastic.

Report Check-In

super nice place.
at lot of mosquitos.
big vehicles possible.

Report Check-In

In theory a great spot. Given the time of year, we had black flies and mosquitoes to contend with. If not for those pesky creatures, this would have been perfect. As such gave it 3.5 stars, but could have been 4.5. We had a terrific sunset and the water was cold but refreshing to take a quick dip in. There was a bit of a sandy river bank too near our site, but the water dark and we couldn't see the bottom. So a bit of a surface swim to cool off.

We camped basically at the site listed, but at these coordinates:
46.315517, -81.648214

The road noise is not a real problem I found, even though you can see the road in the distance.

Also, it was easier to get to if you put these coordinates into googlemaps: 46.320916, -81.633898 , and turn off the highway there, then follow the satellite map into the site, favouring the path that looks more like a road on the satellite map. I followed the directions here first, and went down those narrow roads off of Birch Road, but ultimately left the site via above. It was way easier and less gnarly, and suitable for more vehicles I would say. I was in a pickup truck with a canopy on the back with a 8.5" vehicle height.

You could also get cell phone reception there too.

Report Check-In

All the talk about narrow roads in, hard to find, etc. are true. I found that it was much easier to find by pulling off the highway here:
https://goo.gl/maps/VBAjzqmGGhic3n5z5

and then find a campsite along that old road. We never went to this spot’s exact coordinates as some of the photos already provided looked good!

The mosquitoes and black flies were insane. I guess you have to expect that before mid-July....

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Belle place , nous avons trouvé une entrée ici : 46.3208724, -81.6337988 et suivi la “Trail” jusqu’à ce qu’on voit l’eau , la route est un peu bruyante , mais beaucoup mieux qu’un Walmart :)

Report Check-In

Great view of the river. Some noise from hey but I didn’t find it bothersome at all. On the weekend there were some 4wheelers and a couple waking their dog but otherwise very quiet. Seems like there are a number of places along the road the follows the power line that could be used for tent and/or car camping. The road getting there though was definitely narrow with overhanging trees, thankfully someone had already cut the bigger ones with a chain saw. My Jeep Liberty handled it fine, may have gotten a couple little scratches from branches. I spent. A few nights here.

Report Check-In

We are two cyclists coming from the east so we found the comments very useful to find the little path right after the sign for Birch road. Beautiful spot to camp and swim in the Spanish river, no wild animals and few mosquitoes. We left it cleaner than we found it (lots of paper serviettes, some cans, peanuts... How can people be so dirty???). Please keep it clean! Thanks for this wonderful place!

Report Check-In

There are actually a few different camping spots along this fire road. The one from the first pictures is down the fire road and then down a narrow at path. We ended up passing the spot in the first few pictures but found another about a 5 minute walk away just along the hydro poke line that we think is better. Better view, easier access to the river below, and a bed of sand and pine needles for a forest floor, much softer and a fraction of the mosquitos. Try to find them both and see what suits your needs best. I bet there are even more we just didn't find any. Posting pics of the second site (pics with grey van)

Report Check-In

The correct coordinates are 46.31576, -81.65255, more or less 200 metter north of the given coordinates.
Righr after Birch Road sign, turn right if going West. Then take the unpaved road just beside the electric power posts.
Best for 4x4 vehicles not to high.
Amazing spot!!! Dont give up if at first you dont find it. Its worth the trouble.

Report Check-In

Wow. What for a nice place.
that are really narrow roads. With my Ford E150 it's close enough. And I think, in the wintertime, and when it's wet, you need an 4x4.....
But anyway didn't sleep here, because there was so much Moskitos and Caterpillar. I spleept few hundred meters bevor in the pinewood Forrest.

Report Check-In

Very nice spot into the forest !
We stayed two nights. We heard a little bit the road.
We saw some beavers and we fish our diner, we really enjoy this place.

Report Check-In

Very Beautifull place above the River. Firepit and lots of Moskitos...;-) Just for small Cars/Campers because of low hanging Trees and narrow road!
