Latest Check-Ins

We had to search all around the place to find anyone to talk to. The aduana building is here and you can pull a string to enter, but no employees. We finally found a guy elsewhere on the property and he told us this Aduana is closed and we must go to Aduana close to the border instead.

Report Check-In

We came through early afternoon on our way out of Bolivia and it was closed. Not a person in sight. We went to the other one near laguna blanca and it was open (4:10pm).

Report Check-In

Aduana not here anymore. It’s a chemical plant. It’s at the border .

Report Check-In

The aduana is in the propertie of the mines. The gate of the mines was closed and nobody in the security hut. We parked in front of the gate and walked to the customs office which had a sign on the wall. Inside it looked like a proper office with shelf full of document boxes. Officer could speak English and was reasonably nice. He came out to check vin and finished paperwork quickly. I took a picture of the stampped TIP and he said thst's a good idea in case the migration guys want to check. The road from the mines was very muddy for about 20kms but sometimes one could drive on the side tracks which were dry (but sands might be deep sometimes)

Report Check-In

Friendly officer said that this place is open permanently and the other closer to the border is not and only sometimes occupied - despite other informations provided here on iOverlander, but this is Bolivia - bring a smile 😁😁

Report Check-In

This place was open. You have to be patient and to knock at the door until someone answers :)
The cancellation of the Bolivian TIP takes only a few minutes.
We received a copy of the TIP cancelled.
Pay attention about the information noticed on the TIP : there was a mistake on the plate of the vehicle and we could have to pay a bribe (but finally not).

Report Check-In

We had to register our vehicle here, coming from Hito Cajon. But we got shouted at that we did not come here straight away. We entered Bolivia the afternoon before and camped at Laguna verde, then went to the Geysirs and arrived at Aduana in the afternoon. Also because we needed to spend a night at 4300 rather than going to 5100m right away (with little kids). But all this reasoning made no difference, the officer was very annoyed, if not outright rude, and said that we were wrong to have been illegally in Bolivia with our vehicle for 24h.

Report Check-In

Quick and easy customs process, didn't check the vehicle for food etc. Random location tucked away from the main route through the altiplano

Report Check-In

Place was closed when we passed, they sent us to the one at laguna blanca which was open. Seems like the two places are alternating, so if you come from the North, it would be safer to check first if this place is open before going to laguna blanca.

Report Check-In

gave up tip here to exit Bolivia
got a copy with exit stamp on request.
took 5 mins

February 2018: This place was open, but this can change. Check the other points for more information.

Report Check-In

came from chile, documents for us were made at laguna verde, documents for the car where done here, just knock at the door that says "officina de aduana' and pull the string at the door to get in...

was done in 20 minutes, the altitude was killing us :D

Report Check-In

Stopped here to turn in TIP but told to go to the other office further south. Confirmed the office near the border is open every day from 0800-2000.

Report Check-In

we tried to check out here but we where told to go through to the border. apparently there is an aduana officer at the border now 26 days a month.

Report Check-In

Easy aduana experience. We spent more time getting warm than we did doing paperwork. The aduana official we worked with spoke English and seemed excited to talk to us. The Borax facility will open the gate, we were sure to thank the for thus road clearing they did from Laguna Colorada to their station and south.

Report Check-In

We obtain the import permit for the car here today. Very friendly officers there. The office is at 5000 m altitude.

Report Check-In

Yes believe the hype. You have to cancel your TIP here. We also did not find the aduana at the 'new' white container by the park entrance/exit, nor was there aduana at the border. It's completely ridiculous but nobody knows when there is someone at the park entrance/exit and they will send you back to this place close to the geysers and mine called Apacheta.
In the end we told them we didn't have enough fuel to go back and with much resistance the migracion guys at the border promised us they would send your TIP to Apacheta aduana with the next truck. If that ever happened we don't know...

Report Check-In

Cancel TIP took 2 minutes and they keep it. This office is only for checking out your vehicle. No stamps in passport, have to get it at the other border south of here.

Report Check-In

2016 sep. Still better and more secure if you do the exit stamp and papers for the car here. The custom officer near the border was not there the day we have exited!

Report Check-In

So nice guy in aduana! He didn't even check the car. Everything sorted out within 10 minutes. (entering Bolivia)

Report Check-In

INSIST that they check you out here, even if they tell you that the aduana at Laguna Verde will be open (because they told us that and it was closed with a sign to drive back the 83 km)!!!!!!!!

Report Check-In

No snow on the road, just a little bit on the side. Really nice people. Open 8am to 8pm. No vehicle check. No food check.

Report Check-In

We were told to go to the new aduana booth next to the national park exit, 70km further south (which we did, and this worked out fine). Noone will check if you cancel your TIP a few days early so I wouldn't worry about what date they put on it.

Report Check-In

We were told we needed to exit same day as handing over TIP. We pleaded (we were 4 rigs traveling together) and they finally dated it two days from our visit. No copy given although we asked. We took a photo in case we needed it on the Chilean border. Freezing temps and lots of snow when we were here. Crazy place to put an Aduana!

Report Check-In

Exiting Bolivia - At first we were told that we had to exit that day. They said they didn't care when we left but we could have problems on the Chilean side. Eventually we convinced them to post date the stamps and enter the information on the computer in a couple days. We didn't receive a copy of our cancelled TIP. We ended up leaving a day before our cancelled TIP. No issues at Bolivian immigration or on the Chilean side.

Report Check-In

Quick process when entering Bolivia. We got easily 90 days (Dutch passports). Very quick check of the car.

Report Check-In

you have to go here if the aduana at the ticket office at laguna blanca / verde is closed.

Report Check-In

Nice folks. Especially given that they apparently live in Boric Acid mine at 5033m asl. Easy for us sorting 30 days of temporary import for two Aussie registered motos. Only a few km's from the Geysers.

Report Check-In

entering into Bolivia, we received our Visas at Hito Cajones, $160/p for US passports, they only needed a copy of a 2x2 photo, didn't check for yellow fever, but we had it anyway.

then we drove the 80km to Apacheta Aduana to get the vehicle permit. took only 5min, no fees. there is, however, a national reserve entrance fee of 150 Bolivianos to enter, between the two locations

Report Check-In

don't Have to go to this place. New is the aduana bolivia at the Ticket Checkpoint near laguna verte/blanca.

Report Check-In

This is where you need to take care of your vehicle papers. They'll take the original papers and stamp a copy with your desired exit date. We did two days in the future. No payment. Migration office is at at the actual border. This aduana office is at over 5000m and very casual. A small building inside a boric acid facility.

Report Check-In

Open 7 days a week, 8am - 8pm.
