Description

Community-run pitches around the Spitzkoppe mountain with long drop toilets and braai stands. A bit like bush camping in a beautiful National Park. Bring everything you need.

For those who want showers, restaurant and flushing toilets, there are sites closer to the gate with these facilities.

N$210 pppn, this includes entry fee to the park.

Spacious park with many campsites. It is like wild camping, but with a long drop toilet and a braai stand. For those who want a restaurant, flushing toilet and showers, the campsites close to the gate are recommendable. All sites have their own spectacular views. There are sites with big trees for shade, sites with small lapas for shade and some completely between the rocks. It is first come, first serve though, so earlier is better for a good choice.

The fee you pay is actually mostly entrance fee for the national park. Considering the entrance fee, the camping fee is really not much. We found campsite 10B to be really nice for shade with a big tree close to the fire pit.

My favourite campsite in Namibia.

Such gorgeous landscape.

Report Check-In

An amazing place, at least in low season.
Beautiful landscape and lots of things to explore.
There were not many people so we could choose from many campsites.
Paid 220N$ pppn.
We went to the "little busman's paradise" to see some rock paintings. There are only a few paintings but the explanations of the guide were very interesting. You don't have to walk up the hill here, so it's a good alternative to the Bushman's paradise on very hot days. The tours are on a tip basis.

Report Check-In

It has a beautiful topography. We stayed just one night. Our drop toilet was totally exposed. It was literally a toilet on a concrete slab right on the road! Anyone driving or walking by could watch you do your business.🤪 Some features are not worth seeing. The rock pool has been filled with sand. The large petroglyphs and rock paintings may not be worth paying a guide to see. You must hike 15 minutes, vertically up, slick rock, to see them. They are quite faded and only a few. Then. you must climb straight down the same rock going back. The showers are at the entrance. You get a braai pit and share a pit toilet. Not much for what you pay.

Stayed there for 1 night, 210 pp per night. quiet place, stunning landscape... we did a little hike on top of the mountain the view was incredible. showers are close to the reception. We saw some dammans. If you like nature and landscapes it's a nice spot.

What a sh*t show of a campsite. Website didn’t work, so we called and they told us no need to book. On arrival the lady said “it’s very busy, you should have booked”’!!! Whilst rolling her eyes she finally let us through. But then it’s a total free for all as they don’t give you an actual spot, you need to find a spot. But there are no spots available, as all the booked campsites have chairs to show they’re reserved. We Wasted our day driving around trying to find a space, alongside about 20 other vehicles. So they obviously overbook the park. All the walks are expensive! If you’re coming to Spitskoppe just camp outside, it’s not worth the chaos and waste of a day.

Report Check-In

The pitches are first come first served. You do end up driving around looking at a rubbish map working out where to go. We turned up later on in the day 3/4pm and all of the westerly pitches were gone but we chose 18a/b which was perfect. Nestled in by the mountain we felt very secluded and a lovely private spot. Very clean toilet also. Superb campsite.

Report Check-In

Nice spot, beautiful view! We had campsite nr 2, which had a nice lookout at the spitzkoppe with sunset. is super basic but we loved it. Staff is very friendly and you can buy meat, braaibread, pizza and wood at the restaurant. There is hardly any wifi or mtc connection, so enjoy being offline for a while ;)

no electricity or water at your campsite.
there are showers and flushing toilets at the reception, which are quite for (not walking distance). You have a compost toilet at your campsite.

Beautiful huge camping. Every spot is great. No water, vault toilets at the sites.

Report Check-In

Camping fee went up to N$ 210 pppn (adult). Otherwise nothing changed.

Report Check-In

We stayed 2 nights. Nice huge campsites, amazing walks possible.
Still 190 ppn

Report Check-In

Basic amenities (pit toilet). It's like bush camping in an exceptional landscape.

Report Check-In

To be frank, you can skip spitzkoppe altogether. For the price and distance from swakopmund, i dont feel it is worth it. We paid to stay a night inside and actually preferred outside at the nice viewpoint. Secret a was taken even in the morning so we went secret b. But the campsites 17 18 19 are all good options and definitely had no one. Somehow everyone clustered around on this side.

Half the park is also inaccessible without a guide, which made it a bit lame

We had trouble levelling out at secret b. The Only upside is that there is internet

Report Check-In

Nice scenic camp sites. Even though camps are some distance apart they are quite popular, so don't expect it to be private.
Cost of R190 per person high considering there is only toilet (long drop) at camps. Shower available at reception (driving distance away)

Report Check-In

2nd time here. 1st was in 2019. Right in the middle of the rocks. Campsites are far apart and shower/flush toilet/water just in the reception area (you’ll have to drive there). Be self-sufficient, and avoid drives to the reception. Campsites have long drop toilet and fireplace/braai. This time we had the campsite called ”Bridge”, which is at the other side, very short walk to the Arch. This place is as great as we remembered. Spent 2 nights. N$190/pppn. Coordinates in this addon are wrong, the reception is at the first add.

Report Check-In

We chose campsite 11 and 2. However upon looking at most of them I would recommend “Secret” A or B if you want privacy, campsite 11 if you want an awesome view of the north without anyone else around, campsite 4 for some of the best views of the whole park, campsite 2 if you want to sleep in a cave (yes I said cave) you don’t have to sleep in it but it’s there! The restaurant was ok; service was nonchalant, but the food was surprisingly good and not too expensive for where it is. Campsite 7 sucks, unless you want to be SUPER close to the arch for sunset or sunrise. Campsite 1 looked cool being between two HUGE rocks. Really you can’t go wrong with any of them, but I hope some of these descriptions have helped you make a decision on which one to pick 👍🏼

This is the well-known, original Spitzkopf Community Camp. Many romantic and individual pitches with droptoilets. Showers and water only in the entrance area. Restaurant / bar. Currently N $ 190 ppn. I change the position of the entry to the center of campsites, (-21,83642, 15.18731) Since the current position is confusing.

Report Check-In

Wonderful campsite NR 7 close to the the rock arch.
Pit toilet was clean and usable.
We were in a camper and have our own facilities. Lovely spot if you want to photograph the arch at sunset and sunrise.

Report Check-In

Many different camp sites in spectacular rock cove settings. Rate currently 150 N$ pp including park fee. There is cell phone reception if you point north towards the cell tower.
Only dry toilets, but drinkable water and hot showers at reception.

Report Check-In

The camp seems to be in the middle of the reserve. It is really big and each site get a lot of space! You can have a site close to the bridge or even with a direct view for sunset.
Dry Toilet are available close to each site with a barbecue area and some shadow. For shower you need to go back to the reception which is far away from the sites. You need to drive! But it is definitely the best campsite to explore Spitzkoppe !

No network in the area and no wifi...

Report Check-In

We stayed on covid-19 special 150 NAD pppn with park fees included. We chose to stay at campsite 3 which wouldn't be private if other people stayed in no 2 or 4. There is plenty of other private spots to choose from otherwise. Rockpool was fairly empty and green so we didn't use it. At night we had some strong winds so had to secure the camp. Toilets surprisingly decent. Very nice fire pits. We used our own shower as it ia very far to get to showers at the rest camp.
We had a take away food from the restaurant and it was decent.

Report Check-In

Exceptional setting in natural environment. Each site is very nicely isolated. Braai and dry toilet available but no water on any site. Water only at reception with showers next to the bar.

Report Check-In

190 pppn. Beautifull location, stunning views, very nice!! It could have been even better if the place was cleaned. There was some trash and braai & binn weren’t emptied. (Both also very ugly)

Report Check-In

Lots of camp sites to select from, we recommend Secret A. Really nice, secluded amongst the rocks. Long drop toilet and braai stand. Showers, flushing toilets, potable water and restaurant available at the reception. $190pp

Report Check-In

We stayed here 2 nights. You can chose a place you like. We stayed at 13, really private beteren the rocks, a nice braaiplace, trashbin and a longdroptoilet. Near place 10 we saw a beautiful sunset at the rocks.

Report Check-In

We did not visit the campsite, but just outside.
The road from the tarmac road (B2) to the site is horrible. Just wash board all the way. Makes it not worth the trip for me.

Report Check-In

Same price N$ 170 pppn.
No electricity at the campsite.
Only toilet near the place to camp and nice view.

Report Check-In

Very beautiful campsites spread over Spitzkoppe. Good hot showers at the entrance. Pit toilet at your site (some seem to share with two sites, A and B). Price still $N170pp. Sites 17, 18 and 19 are the most private (no traffic passing at all) but a long walk / drive to the bridge.

Report Check-In

Just beautiful! We can absolutly recommend to stay here. Prices has gone a bit up: N$170 p.p.

Report Check-In

We stayed at campsite 14, from where You can walk in 20min. to see the sunset at the arche! Clean site, longdrop, little chade during the Day but we have our awening so no problem. Very quiet at night.

Agree with all reviews below.
Simple, basic, massive and amazing beautiful site.
New price N$170 pppn.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place! The most picturesque camping we have been to during our travel so far. Campsites are spread out on huge area so even if you have a neighbors they will be at least 200 meters away. Long drop toilets, spots have braai facilities as well. Shower in the reception with hot water and restaurant (chicken burger 60 N$, coke 25N$, beer 30N$). Water available only in the reception which is pretty far if you’re staying in the last spots (10, 11 etc.). Bring everything you need and a lot of water if you don’t want to drive to the reception each time you have some dishes to wash. We were planning to stop here just for one night but the sunset and night sky was so amazing that we decided to extend our stay for one more night.

Report Check-In

Great sunset on top of the rocks! braii place and a few trees for shade

Report Check-In

Absolutely no other place you should stay in this area. Camping on and around these incredible rock formations is perfect, with wonderful sunset and sunrise views. You need to bring everything with you, as it’s very basic. More than worth it.

Report Check-In

Stunning place! Campsites are spread around Spitzkoppe. They do not allocate a camp to you, but you just have to look for a free space. This can be a problem when it is full. We were there early, so it wasn't a problem but we saw many people looking for spots in the afternoon. Every site has a fire pit and a garbage bin. Longdrops close to each site and proper toilets and hot showers at reception. Amazing landscape and wonderful night sky. We stayed 2 nights at camp 10c which was great. 165 N$ pppn. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

Big campsites, most of them has a longdrops, braaifacilities. Showerblock are in the front of the park. Surrounding is amazing.
Be aware campspot 4,5 or 7 has many peoply coming trought to watch the stone brigde.
Alot of noise.

A magic place on earth! Although it is quite expensive 165 pppn kids pay 120 pn! But the place is worth it!

Report Check-In

N$165pppn. bar is ridiculously expensive. site 8 is next to the road so all the cars drive up and down past it to the restaurant and showrs BUT it is in a wind tunnel which is nice and refreshing in the summer heat.

Report Check-In

All said by the others. Price is still 160pPpN. Watch out there are sites without longdrops. Landscape is just breathtaking.

Report Check-In

Very nice campsites, spread apart from one another. beautiful setting too. Very special place on Earth.

camping:165 pppn adult,100 pppn kid (until 12). very nice place with beautiful scenery. just braai, garbage and flush toilets on the pitch.for hot showers and free drinking water, you must go near the reception around 4 km! feel like alone.be careful to choose shadow with tree or rocks because it is very very very hot during the afternoon! now day visitor: 55 per adult,30 per kid (until 12),70 per car+ 55 for guided tour obligatory for some parts of the park. if you camp, you don t pay the day fees.we stayed in 10A,very nice and quiet place!bar and restaurant open but bring everything!

Better to bring cash, their card machine is unreliable

Report Check-In

Basic campsites in beautiful setting by the dramatic rock formations of Spitzkoppe.
Sites are well spaced out (up to a km apart). Most have table, braai area and nearby long drop. There is a restaurant and hot water ablutions at the park entrance. We stayed at campsite 1B which was awesome but a bit of a wind tunnel. Despite the simplicity, one of the favourite campsites from our trip.
150 pppn

Report Check-In

Amazing campsite! Almost no facilities and not very cheap (150N$ pppn) but absolutely worth it. If you can, head for spot 12, which is really secluded, especially if 13 is not taken. No one around for hundreds of meters. And what a setting! Simply gorgeous.
Long drop toilets are simple but clean. Every spot has a braai and/or firepit. Water available at reception. Supposedly potable. I planned for 1 night and stayed 3 nights!
What they don't tell you at the reception is that you are not allowed to visit the rock art on your own, even though it is on the complementary map. But considering previous comments I dont think I've missed much...

Report Check-In

Great Spot !!! Absolutely WOOOW !!! Check in here, if possible ! There is absolutely NOTHING but the landscape... the places are very very big and there is nothing but a long-drop - but that is ok ... if you want to shower, you have to drive back to the reception - - but who cares, in the light of that breathtaking landscape !!!

Report Check-In

And just in case, the guided tour is kind of joke. 50$ pp for 1.5h, you see three paintings and 4 zebras... when you do it with three kids and pay 250$...

And finally, the place is beautiful enough to enjoy it without doing this tour.

Report Check-In

Nice but be aware of the new price: 150$ pp and children (2-12 years) are 100$

Report Check-In

Wow what a spot! We stayed two nights. It was like wild camping as the spaces are very far apart. Wild area. You buy wood at the reception, and a few drinks. There is no water, electricity or luxuries at the spots so take your own. Pit loos are ok. Watch the roads in and out have sandy patches

Report Check-In

Pitches spread out over a large area with beautiful shapes of rocks and bolders. Gives the feeling of wild camping. Long drop toilet at every pich, showers, bar and restaurant at the reception (a few kilometers away from the most popular camping pitches).
NAD 270 (2 adults, camper)

Report Check-In

Community run pitches around the Spitzkoppe mountain with long drop toilets, showers at reception, braai stands but nothing else, a bit like bush camping in a beautiful area, 150N$/pitch (only payable once per stay) and 200N$/night so 350N$ (24,30€) for the first night and 200N$ (13,90€) for every night after that for two people

In the true wilderness. Campsites are set far apart. Longdrops, access to shower at gate. Bring everything you need.
