Description

There is a huge bus parking lot at the entrance of the adventure park. (Used to be a airport runway!!) We parked there by the canyon for dinner and ended up sleeping here. There is no actual camping spot but we slept in the truck. The last tour groups/ tourists left around 6 PM; it was quiet after that. There is trash can near. The toilets pits closed at around 5pm. The view on the canyon is stunning. Very quiet night!!!

No fee, no guards were coming. Awesome view from the rim.

Agree with ‘weareoutoftheoffice’. We were never visites by a guard, nor charged anything to stay. Unbelievable place to spend the night. Woke up to the sunrise coming over the canyon. Breathtaking! Highly recommended! The adventure park was good, but it is way past it’s hay day. Looks partly abandoned actually. Piedra Volada used to be (2004) accessible, but is fenced off now (for obvious reasons). But the teleferico was a nice ride.

If you get here before the park closes and ask to camp for the night and visit the adventure park in the morning they are happy to let you stay. As others have said, the guy who closes the gate comes to check if you're ok and told us we'd have a safe night. There is a small footpath along the canyon wall which is beautiful to walk around sunset.

The adventure park is well worth a visit. The views are even better from the bottom station of the teleferico. Go early. They said we could even bring our dog on the teleferico as long as no one else bothered or was allergic. You can go on different hikes with local guides at the bottom station, just ask at the little shop. They have fixed prices and you help support the indigenous community.

Stunning camping at edge of the canyon with sunrise views.
Enter the Adventure Park area before 4:30pm ( 60pesos) then proceed to parking lot and ask to park at cliff edge parking area (straight ahead) after the "rope guards".
Nice trail along canyon edge to the adventure park. We did the "Zip Line"...wow! But as said you don't have to do any of the paid adventures, but it is a great spot to do this stuff!
TelCel and AT&T okay if not too windy, lots of foodstalls at park while its open

Pulled up to the gate just as the park was closing. Asked about places to sleep in my car and the attendant waved in the general direction of across the street. Found a bunch of dirt roads near the water tower and camped in a flat spot in the trees. Plenty quiet at least in the off season.

We stayed here 1 night. It was 50 peso entry for the two of us. Plenty of spaces to park. Quiet night. Everyone working at the adventure park and the stalls selling things were lovely. We did the Zip Rider the next day. It was amazing. 1000 peso each, but worth it. There are flush toilets and a cafe at this location. Telcel phone service cuts in and out. Felt safe.
