Very awesome wooded area with tons of places to camp. Big rigs could probably make it, but the road is a little bumpy at spots and also narrow. Head down the dirt road beside two big trees with a flat area below them, just off the highway. No wind because of the trees, great view of the volcano, and quiet. We had a small fire (leave no trace!) and had a nice overnight stay here. Enjoy!
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We attempted to find this place using the 'entrance' pin, but found the main road blocked by a gate. As we started to drive on to the little bypass road, a guy came running and yelling out of the nearby house. He asked us what the hell we were thinking because everything beyond the gate is a private area. You may get lucky if no one is around when you enter the road, but be aware you'll be trespassing. As such, I'm going to mark this (and the entrance) as closed...
Report Check-Indidn't used exactly this spot but just close to the road behind the trees. no noise at nice and wind protection.
as mentioned below be aware of the thorns if you're using a tent!
Great spot! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 We camped in a tent. There are lots of options, but you don’t want to put your tent under any of the trees because of the thorns.
Report Check-InReally great place to stay around San Pedro de Atacama - saves a lot of money. We returned for 3 nights, after exploring during the day, including after we visited El Tatio, and before we went over Paso de Jama. Lots and lots of possible places to camp. We did see goats, Burros, and a goat herder one afternoon, but that was it. Highly recommend!
Report Check-InVery quiet and pleasant place to stay several nights. As mentioned before, beware of the spikes. There is wood to make a campfire.
Report Check-InAmazin please, do not know were to go? This is te place! Free nature spot near few km from SP
Report Check-InNice spot indeed. A lot of shadow, very quiet place and superb night sky!
Report Check-InThis is a top space for one or more nights. Many possibilities and well hidden.
Report Check-InGreat location, lots of wood so a lot of shadow ! Nice spot. As said before be careful with the spikes. Good place next to San Pedro. We saw no one, just a few goats.
Report Check-InNice wooded area for sure. A lot of space and very peaceful. All rigs should be able to get in. Be careful not to drive too close to the trees as the fallen sticks/branches have many spikes that can penetrate into your tires! Lots of dead wood for fires, but be careful as it's very dry. Definitely recommend.
