Latest Check-Ins

Nice and quiet place, although expensive for the conditions… Toilets were not clean and in bad conditions, only had hot water, so we couldn’t have shower because it was burning. Disappointing.

Report Check-In

campsite feels like the car park. Clean showers, plenty of them, bbq, light and electricity, very expensive 700 nad for 2 people but there is limited choice before going to fish river canyon. We did use the indoor hot wellness pool which was nice......the outdoor pool was not clean enough for me. If it's cool enough you can also hike into the end of the canyon from the camp

Report Check-In

Very busy site, very touristy (was during SA school holidays though). Nothing great.

Report Check-In

So we are back again, visiting lovely AI Ais Hotsrpings. It was about a year since our last visit. There is a lot of renovations going on and the Resort is starting to look lovely. We are camping in the exact spot as last year and the braais (BBQ) are in good condition. The grass is as green as ever and the tumbled down walls and BBQs are repaired. How lovely it is to the Resort in a state of repair. Well done!

Report Check-In

Very overpriced and poor facilities. We stayed for 1 night at the campground, 2 people and a car and paid 640$.

The outdoor pool is drained, so you can only use the indoor one. Place is extremely sandy.

Ablutions were old and not very clean. They are renovating the campground though.

Report Check-In

Beautiful oasis in the canyon, great to hike up the river. We also used the outdoor pool which was perfect! We didn't stay overnight, but the campsite looked OK, with gras and trees in most parts. Was quite full with ZA families, as they have holidays at the moment.

Report Check-In

I am surprised by the recent comments suggesting Ai Ais is in a mess. We have visited twice before and, while there is clearly work still to be done to remedy the resort after the floods of a few years ago to return it to its glory days, the camping on the grass lawn (yes there is a very big patch of it) was wonderful and peaceful. There are a number electrical points not working and some braais tumbled down but there are enough of both to be happy. The pools and the bar/restaurant seem to be in a good state. I heard a woman say it is "aaglik" (terrible) but that is an exaggeration. I suggest that one should simply adjust one's expectations. The internet and cell dignal is iffy, but the resort was pretty full, so still very popular.

Report Check-In

Huge disappointment. We came here because of previous comments saying it isn't as bad as written before. But it is.
Price is 315NAD pp for internationals and the campsite is in pretty bad condition. It seems like there haven't been any repairs made since the flooding 1,5 years ago. Most of the campsites are not functional. There are destroyed trees, broken brais and the electricity points don't work at most sites. no trash cans! its not maintained well at all.

Report Check-In

Hot springs (warm) were very relaxing after a day of driving. Staff were helpful and friendly, the wifi was below average. Campsites were reasonable as were the amenities. Clearly the repair work from flooding is still underway. The indoor pool area was quite a surprise. And as a side note wheelchair accessible too.

Report Check-In

We liked the place. Nice warm pool, plenty of braais, clean abolitions, very welcoming hosts. 400 N$ per site.

After reading all the comments on here we were sceptical whether to come here or not, so we were pleasantly surprised and feel like our expectations of places may not really overlap with a lot of other people.

Report Check-In

Basics were there but poor maintenance is showing all over & the flood damage that are not being prepared due to the insurance claim being contested in court does not help either. Water & mains were available intermittent.

Vis river still flowing with the weir over flowing, so no hiking at the moment.

Report Check-In

It was our worst experience after 3 months in Namibia staying in more than 50 campsites. Maybe due to new year's holidays?! It's an European/South African kind of campsite where intimacy is non existant (there are +- 60 camping spots). People where noisy, playing loud music in their cars, kids invading your campsite to throw stones in birds and cats and at the huge outdoor pool (which looks like a club pool with no charm), dozens of people smoking narguilé, drinking bottles of vodka and splashing in the pool 1 meter away from you. No one in the staff resort ever show up to try to put a bit of order in any of this. If you have kids and would like a swimming pool that's not freezing like most in Namibia are, maybe you will enjoy it. But if you like to enjoy nature peacefully you can probably skip this one here. 😉

Report Check-In

Big campground with all facilities. You stil can see the massive flood damages of the summer rains. The hot pools are very nice made and well maintained but the water was a bit cold (ca. 35°C) at our visit. After request they heated up the indoor pool to ca 37°C. Very weak MTC Signal and slow Wifi. 200 NAD p.P.

Report Check-In

most grase campsites are ok, the once along the road are only partially usable as not yet repared from fooding, 400 per campsite, no wifi on site and very slow at reception, outdoor swimmingpool quite clean, we stayed 3 nights

Report Check-In

pools are open again, both indoor and outdoor. day visitors pay now $50/adult, half price for kids between 6 and 12.
we didn't stay overnight but could see the campsite was flooded last march and is in pretty bad shape: many places washed away, big holes, many braii broken.

Report Check-In

Very friendly staff. Ablution blocks needs attention, leaking taps at toilets, colors scheme are lightly patching due to done . No maintenance. Price pp camping 375 per night. We were lucky for 35 % discount as Namibian pensioners. Totally overpriced for the neglected establishment. Due to Corona no pools were available. Efficient tyre fixers. In overall not recommendable

Report Check-In

This is a typical NWR resorts campsite. Not too well managed and maintained. Prices for camping are 315 N$ pppn that includes the hot spring fed outdoor pool. As a camper you have to pay N$ 20 pp for access to the indoor pool. Only one indoor pool is operational the other seems to be under maintenance for quite some time. If you visit the pool as a day visitor it is 50 $ ppp day. We did not try the restaurant. Generally speaking a unique location but overpriced. Campsites have braai and power, some have shade. Lots of hungry feral cats.

Report Check-In

Don’t waste your money here. It is very expensive and you don’t get what it was originally built for. There is only 1 pool working indoors and the rest are empty. There was litter in the campsite with workers strolling around and doing nothing about it. The baboons dominate the area and there are many feral cats that sit at your campsite and beg . The place was empty , we were the only campers. There is no WiFi. The electrical plugs worked ok and one of the camp bulbs worked. The chairs outside are shocking and should rather be thrown away than used. The shower taps came off and the temp of the water was difficult to control. There is also not much to see in the canyon so a trip to Hobas or roadhouse is much better

Report Check-In

Large camping, poor shaded. Wifi in the restaurant and electricity at every site. Annoying are the monkeys that are after your food.

Report Check-In

big campsite but we were almost alone so it was relaxing
lot of shade
old but clean ablutions
the hot outdoorpool is bit too warm during summer but ok
the indoorpool is 20R pp extra
the "shop" is not realy a shop, they don't have anything...

Report Check-In

Daaaaaaang! It’s as hot as hell, and the baboons are out for a party!

The 70’s cocaine and swingers vibe give this places a groovy yet haunting feel.

Camping is very expensive for what you get 640NAD for two people which makes this spot extremely expensive and probably not worth the money, which is sad to say for such a pimping place.

However, if you’re seeking a steaming oasis in the harsh arid landscape, we’d still recommend it for a stopover. Make sure you feed the kittens... and the baboons (not!).

Report Check-In

Really nice place but so expensive.
Paid $630 p2pn, prices have raised up on November 1st 2019.
Had a great night and enjoyed the hot pool still!

Report Check-In

The place was really nice but the baboons are very bold.
We saw a baboon steal a bag from a car and then went back to our camp to find a baboon had ripped a hole in the side of the tent and strewn my things all over in search of my deodorant (I assume, because there was no food in there). The staff were very kind in response and provided a room but in general I’d recommend high baboon caution.

Report Check-In

Very nice place to relax and have a massage for 400NAD. The hot pools are amazing. Camping is good. Ablutions ok. Scenery is fabulous! A little paradise!

Report Check-In

Beautiful place to stay, camp isn’t anything special but the scenery is. Wonderful lace to escape the wind and winter weather. Pools are great, but could have been warmer maybe. It’s a clean place ablutions are what we have come to expect from NWR and other national park camp grounds, but they have warm water, soap and toilet seats - what more do you need. Great place to stay with kids.

Report Check-In

Very nice pools, camping was still 420 for 2 persons (our kids were free. You pay if they are 6 years and up). We were here 2 weeks ago and there the indoor pool didn’t seem so clean. It is now.

Report Check-In

Outside pool crystal clear. It has not been in the past. Good place to visit in winter. All the other comments are valid but you should visit to make up your own mind.

Report Check-In

It is a touristy spot but still worth to come if you are tired of dust and bumpy roads. Evening in the outdoor giant hot pool was worth coming here even though the campsite is pretty expensive (210 N$). Campsites has water, electricity, dust bins, tables and benches.

Report Check-In

Paid 420 NAD for 2 persons with car and tent; very crowded; pool, kitchen and ablutions ok

Report Check-In

Run down campsite and ablutions and the hot spring is more a dirty warm pool. There is a fuel station and a little shop. Not worth a visit.
210 ND pppn

Report Check-In

good tips to know. the permit for fish river canyon is valid for 24h. we go to see sunset in hobas and then bush camp around(easy to find a place) and enjoy the hot swimming pool and shower the next morning in ais- ais. enjoy!

Report Check-In

Perfect for 1 night and a dip in the very warm pool. Shop, petrol, bar and restaurant. Sites are plentiful and nice shade.

Report Check-In

didnt stay here because the comments sounded not so good. but with the parkpermit of fishriver you enter for free and we passed anyways so we had a look. the actual spring is not so nice, but the big pool is hot and in winter its really cool to have a warm swim! you can also walk up the riverbed wich is nice. the campside is very big but the pitches are nice with power, light and a braistand. just dont camp next to a big group whem you want to have it quite. lots of green gras and shady trees. nexttime we would stay here.

Report Check-In

Very stuffy, very clean, a little bit to perfect.... I felt as i was in a wellness clinic for pensioners. Also it´s absolutely overpriced. - Ablutions ok, nice kitchen, but not again !

Report Check-In

hot springs were non existent when we were there, just a murky small hole in the ground. the campsite was fine but nothing special about it. lots of baboons so you can't leave anything out. wish we stayed up at the northern end of fish river longer instead of coming here

Report Check-In

We visited this spot after numerous recommendations. The hot spring was awesome! Unfortunately a bit resorty, and so often there are people making a noise in the camp. I also got a bad feeling about theft and leaving stuff out here. Otherwise the camp spots are clean and the ablutions fine. The area in general could do with a good clean up and is a bit run down. Watch for the baboons!

Report Check-In

338N$ to camp here for two people and a car. Nice place, huge campsite with good facilities and little kitchenettes. Braai and electricity on every pitch. Water available. Hot pools are good to swim in and bar is nice. Small shop on site as well as fuel station.

Report Check-In

The campsite consists of two parts, gravel lanes around a lawn and a large gravel area next to the swimming pool. The lawn itself isn't allowed for camping anymore, but that part of the campground has the best facilities (kitchen, sinks for laundry, braais). Drinking water is available at a central tap, the sites have non-potable water. There are some trees. An outdoor and an indoor swimming pool are provided which are heated with hotspring water.
NAD 338 (2 adults, camper)

we were there in the low season so had the whole place to ourselves – will be busy during peak times. Beautiful location, hot spring fed pool and indoor Jacuzzi! Great place for some easy camping (N$250)

Report Check-In

70km down the road at the other end of the canyon there is a great set up – with restaurant, bar, hot mineral baths in a cool indoor setting and a beautiful swimming pool fed by the springs. The water temperature Is a balmy 30C.The camping at Ai Ais is good also with plenty of shade and the whole thing at USD$35 seemed good value.

Report Check-In

Power, water, braai, a place to do dishes, nice toilet and shower facilities. Camping is also including 24 hours access to the outdoor hot spring. No wifi.
