beautiful campsite with very nice surroundings. very friendly staff. we stayed during the weekend and it appears there were parties going on in the villages for 8pm till 6am. the sound resonates so be aware during the weekend thus might happen again.
Report Check-InStunning surroundings with multiple hikes around.
20 000 TSH pppn
Road tarred all the way up until 2km from the campsite. Not difficult to drive at all, in a good condition at the moment.
Excellent affordable restaurant.
Good wifi.
Multiple farm fresh products available to buy, including fresh milk, cheese, veggies, honey.
Campsite itself isn't amazing. Not great views from the campsite, but good views from the restaurant. ablutions are a bit old. but clean and working well with hot water.
Beautiful place in the wood. Also a lot cooler than Dar es Salaam. Ablutions are oké. Wifi is available at the farm house. Prices of the restaurant are very reasonable. Down at the reception there are some flat places, more higher at the campsite, you have to search for flat places.
Report Check-InVery nice place quiet with a beautiful view.
Now compatible for big rigs (we have cut enough to be able to go through with our truck (3,75m height and 2.5m wide) indeed, you have to climb pole pole (we did it in 1rst low gear)
Spent 2 nights here over new years, quaint little spot among the trees, there’s a nice view out from the back of the farmhouse, which is where we had dinner both nights.
Soup, big main, and desert for 25ktsh, or just a main for 15k. Food was really nice, lots of locally sources stuff, and the farmhouse setting was really nice to be in,
Temperature a good few degrees cooler than sea level which meant we slept amazingly with just the sounds of the nature around us.
We were sleeping in rooftents up in the top pitch near the facilities, shower and toilet work great, not fancy, but functional, washing up station too…
We loved it here, felt extremely relaxed, not much going on in the immediate surroundings but for a quiet escape, can’t fault it!
Campsite with basic ablutions. Nice hot shower. Be careful where you park your car; we parked on the grass near the ablutions and had hundreds of biting ants that crawled on us, incl. inside socks, shoes, and clothes, which made our stay here very challenging; we could not sit or stand next to our car. The staff did try to help, fighting them with salt, but that unfortunately didn't help. (Ants might have been active due to recent mowing, so maybe tell them you are coming and ask them to mow the grass at least 2 days ahead of time or park down hill close to the restaurant.) Camping fees: tzs 15.000 per adult, kids half price.
Amazing food. One course meal is tzs 15.000, buffet style, different dishes, more than enough and very tasty. They also baked a birthday cake on request.
We did a hike with Maikel, which was really, really great and lots of fun for the kids. Maikel tailored the distance to their ability, beautiful surroundings and views, and we spotted lots of cameleons and other cool insects. We do recommend agreeing a price up front, we were 3 adults 4 kids, eventually paid tsz 100.000 but they even asked for 35.000 per adult and half price for the kids which we felt is too expensive.
Beautiful campsite with great staff, hot shower and gorgeous surroundings. Food was really reasonable and delicious! After a few days on the road, home-cooked meals with lots of fresh produce was a real luxury. 1-course dinner was 15,000 tsh and was very filling. They let us use their laundry sink and line which was good to catch up on some washing. We organised a guided hike through them to Magamba Forest. Aggrey was our guide and he was excellent! He has a crazy good knack for finding chameleons and knows a lot about the area and the natural world. We spent over 6 hours with him on the hike and he always found interesting things to show and tell us. One of the highlights of our Tanzania trip. Organising is easy through Irente Farm, but he also does guiding for areas beyond Lushoto around the country. Aggrey is on Whatsapp on +255 785 725 532
Report Check-InEasy access-road until the last 200m which are a bit rough, if wet season would need 4x4. shop with farm-products. very nice rye-bread, cheese and others at fair prices. camping with basic but clean toilets and hot shower. many options for nice walks around alone or with Mikel. good option to escape heat of coastal region or Moshi ;-)
Report Check-InAmazing place!
it's super green, you have a little restaurant where you can have dinner or lunch or just coffee. In the area you can go hiking and there are so many places with amazing views.
We met a local called Pascal, who showed us around for a day for 15 dollars. He is living close to Irente View Point.
Here you have his number: +255622756514
For me this place is a must!
The road into the mountains is all tar, just the last kms are good gravel. Only the last 500 m to get to the campsite are rough 4x4. We came with a 5.5t Sprinter and made it, even the ground was wet. For bigger vehicles it would be more tricky. Watch out for the low hanging cables in front of the house and at the campsite. We made a guided tour with Mikel from reception and saw Chameleons and could try the local drink from sugarcane in the village.
Report Check-Inwe stayed 2 nights at this lovely farm campsite high up in the Usambara mountains. Basic sight, large space and grassy. Nice ablution hut with 1 shower with constant hot water and 2 flushing toilets, clean. Farm shop selling bread and cheeses and butter etc, we bought a huge loaf of very tasty brown bread 10000tsz. 1 firepit and 2 electrical plugs. perfect location to hike from we went right to the highest viewpoint early one morning then descended down to Irente viewpoint. we went into the hotel and sat on the terrace with a sofa each for the same price as paying to go and walk around the hotel to the viewpoint (2000tsz pp) Campsite was 15000 tsz pppn. @a.truck.called.wanda
Report Check-InWe got here very late, but they were helpfull. Hot shower . Lots of space under trees. No problems at all 15000pp
Report Check-InBeautiful campsite overlooking the Usambara mountains. Simple abblutions but clean and shower is hot. Hike to the irente viewpoint is well worth it (30mins one way). Great for birdwatching (especially the silvery cheeked hornbills). Restaurant is ok with decent prices, but nothing special. Friendly staff. Paid 15.000 p.p.
Report Check-InNice campsite at a farm. Nice hiking options,
though the waterfalls are very small. Good hot shower with a donkey. Still 15.000 Tsh/pppn. Quiet and tranquil place. Lots of birds around. Camping area is just very uneven, so not many good spots for a RTT, only a few. The food in the restaurant is very basic and bland with only the same lunch options every day. It takes a lot of time, too. And if you order any pizza, you’ll just get a margharita, no matter what. Staff is a bit weird. Road to here may be tricky for big rigs.
All as mentioned below, what a beautiful place!
Very quiet in the nature. Campsite is perfect, with good donkey shower and 2 sitting toilets.
Restaurant and shop is nice.
We went milking the cows with our children, at a local farmer.
About theft. Didn't feel unsafe at all. There is a locker at the reception.
Report Check-InBasic Camping for tents, rofftop tents, small and big rigs. Really nice rooms with or without kitchen (150.000 TS) including breakfast and dinner (discount possible if you like to bargain). The Food is Amazing. Breakfast with proper coffee, different homemade cheese, jam, honey, butter, fruits, yoghurt, muesli and real brown bread from the clay oven. Dinner is great and fresh including soup and desert. Wanted to stay one day, ended up staying a week. For any questions contact the owner: Ute +255 783 685 888
Report Check-InAmazing and peaceful place. We loved it. The nature is beautiful. Everything is mentioned before. Even we had a theft, it is highly recommended. Because it can happen anywhere. To turn around with a really big truck needs a bit time, maybe.
Report Check-InNice campsite! If you are lucky you can choose the best spot with a great view! Very friendly and helpful staff, who speak good English. The ablutions are a bit rustic and could use an update but we had a nice hot shower! The terrace in front of the restaurant is s nice place for a sundowner and gives you a real holiday feeling! They made a fire in the fireplace of the restaurant every night(although we were camping and not having dinner every night), very cozy! The cheese platter is recommended! You can do several hikes to view points by yourself (check maps.me)
Report Check-InThe drive to this farm is absolutely amazing. Loved the scenery! Campsite it self is nice, although there are few flat spaces. Ablutions okay, they are cleaned twice a day. Super tasty cheeses for sale. Nice stop between Arusha and Tanga areas.
Report Check-InNice view over the valley, cute tea room terrace although the food is amazing it isn’t cheap. Jam 10.000, cheese with cumin seeds (komijne kaas in Dutch) 13.000 etc but worth the stop and beautiful short walks in the area. Friendly people and the proceeds go to the schools and projects they run!
Report Check-InWe stayed now 8 days and on the bill staying additional food we didn't had. The half of yogurt was sour and the biomuesli was only low cost Kellogg's. We had a lot of discussion. Better pay daily.
Report Check-InFarm and campsite now operated by local persons. Same prices as written before. Big rigs possible. Water drinkable.
Report Check-InAs golandy said, all still the some. A nice peaceful spot in the forest and can do own short walks from here. We took power from the block with rooms but you need a 30m cable. Showers have very warm water just wait for it as the sign says inside the door.
Report Check-InNice place and campsite. Easy to walk to the view point from here. Still 15.000 tsh pp.
Follow the signs to Irente View Point Cliff Lodge (or something along those lines), signs to the farm show up at some point.
Wifi never worked.
Shower was hot.
Bread was 10k which is a bit expensive but very tasty, cheese was 10k for 450 grams which is pretty decent. 7000 ksh for a cheese platter with bread.
Report Check-InVery nice place. Access for our Iveco truck was possible despite of some low branches. They sell good bread, cheese, yoghurt, and milk.
Report Check-InAll the info are still the same. Agree food are expensive but so far it is tasty. Love the yoghurt and cheese. Water is drinkable. We plugged in for power by the nearby building.
Report Check-InQuite a drive if you’re expecting just a quick overnight off the main road type stopover. Beautiful drive high up into the mountains about 40km off the main road. No signs until virtually at the place but lovely grassed area surrounded by trees for camping and basic flush toilet and hot donkey shower with decent pressure. If you arrive lateish you can’t get dinner but they have their own home made cheese and bread available. Great stopover. Apparently good hikes if you want to stay longer. Very pleasant all in all
Report Check-InSmall grassy campsite, difficult to find an even spot to park the car with top tent. Basic ablutions. No power. Overpriced 15$ ppn. Restaurant is ok but expensive the same applies for the shop 10.000 Tan sh!
Report Check-Inas described before.
right now (mid February 2019) main road going there is blocked but alternative road available, locals showed us
Could negotiate on the price a bit 50.000TZS for 4 people instead of 60.000TZS
If you want dinner in the farm house pre order in the morning is necessary but farm lunch, cheese platter, etc is available and very tasty
guarded at night
Great place! Well located in a very pretty and peaceful campsite next to the forest. We paid 15,000tsh per person for camping. We didn’t eat any main meals but heard it was very tasty. We did have a couple of cheese platters and they were very tasty. Can help organise local guide for walk, but it’s possible to do some hikes alone. Well work the visit. Make sure you go to the view point!
Report Check-InVery nice quiet place. We stayed for 2 nights. If you have your own cable you can connect it outsideof the building next to the campsite. The bestroad tot het there: drive up tot the roundabout. From there follow the very small signs Irente FARM.
adenbernadette.
Nothing much to add, except to say this place is a real gem - highly recommended!
Report Check-InGreat place in a beautiful area in the mountains surrounded by lush green Forrest.
The location has a small grassy campsite with hot shower and 2 toilets which are cleaned every day. No power, fire pit or braai facilities. Price 15.000 pppn.
There is a restaurant where you can have breakfast, lunch and diner all reasonably priced and freshly made with ingredients from the farm. 3 course diner is 25.000 pp.
Wifi available, but very slow. Airtel signal with 3g.
Tours can be organised at the reception and hike tours with guide can be arranged from 50.000 pp. You can also buy fresh produced such as jam, cheese, bread, muesli, etc which are very tasty.
Nice small campsite at farm, good view from restaurant. Several other sites around but this one is the most developed. Shower is wonderfully hot, toilets clean. Road up to site is a bit rough (now short rainy season), vehicle needs some ground clearance for it. Paid TSH 15.000 pppn
Report Check-InThis place is such a great spot for campers (15000 TZS pp). Thay also have rooms which are 150000TZS pp, but includes 3 meals a day. Hot showers, great hiking from the campsite. Amazing food and so fresh. Homemade yoghurt, bread etc. We were initially following route to Irente View Lodge (did not see proper signage to Irente farm), but then saw a sign towards Irente Farm Campsite. They have a website: www.irentefarmlodge.com
Report Check-InFlocks of birds and children! When arrived it was beautifully quiet. Except for the silver cheeked Hornbills ;) then on the third day 27 students arrived. A bit much for two toilets and one shower. But a lovely place for hikes and sunsets. Food tasty. Staff friendly. Camped on a grassy secluded spot.
Report Check-InGreat, quite place. Perfect to relax and a good base for hiking.
Nice grassy place next to clean ablution block, hot shower.
Food bit pricey but fresh and delicious, it's worth it!
Friendly, helpful staff with advices for hikes and viewpoints.
Pleasant spot. The wifi only works in a small corner of the sitting area and Ute shuts it off if she thinks you're using it.
Report Check-InNice campsite but the watchmen are in your face the hole time. Dinner and shop products are overpriced.
Report Check-InWe spent five days here, great for families. Lots of shadow, nice view, superbe food. Small gravel road for 5 km from Lushoto, but we did it with 11t-truck. Stayed at the parking of restaurant (3,6 m is to high for campside- entrance).
Report Check-Ingreat place,
scenic views to the mountains
electricity at the main building,
good stop on the way to Mambo View Point lodge, lots of shade at the camp
campsites do not have views anymore but everything else good. toilet and shower are clean with hot water and you can walk down to the restaurant area for wifi
Report Check-InAs stated by others. Ablutions are really clean (cleaned multiple times a day). Nice food. Perfect break from Dar to Arusha.
Report Check-InGreat place to stay overnight. Very friendly, great food. Don't follow Tracks4 Africa route. Farm is signposted in Kushoto - a quicker and better route.
Report Check-InReally lovely farm in the mountains! Campsite is basic but nice, in cleared wooded area. Food is amazing. Hot showers, A+. Very friendly staff. Road is tarred all the way from the main road until about 5 km from farm. Much cooler, a welcome respite from the heart and a lovely way to break up the Dar/Moshi/Arusha drive... Tsh15,000 pppn. WiFi was not on when we stayed.
Report Check-InNice place, we stay with our truckcamper at the carpark and had a wonderful view. Ablution clean with hot shower. From the terrace also a nice view. The dinner is hard to top....and the prices are favourable.
Report Check-InLushoto is a little village in the mountains more than 30 km from the main road but it is beautiful drive and all tarmac. You'll go from 400 to 1500 meters. Small campsite 15000 shilling, good food
Report Check-InLaidback campsite, good toilet and hot shower. Perfect view from the restaurant and great food! As the property belong to the church, they are not allowed to sell alcohol! But you are allowed to bring your own, even to the restaurant. Free wifi. 15.000 tsh pppn. Make sure you drive to Irente Farm (Irente biodiversity) so turn right at the crossway. Turn left to go to Irente lodge, these are different owners, it is not the same. They offer campsite as well (we didn't visit the place)
Report Check-InCamping is now without a view, in a small clearing in the woods. No Campfire allowed. But good new shower/toilet hut. Good Dinner.
Report Check-InA couple of campsites with good views over the surrounding hills. Ok shower and toilet block a little walk away. Water, but no power. They have a small shop where they sell their products like good cheese, homemade bread, jam, juice, yoghurt etc.
