You can hardly call this a camping. You basically camp on the parking lot of the soda. On all four sides you have a building (the soda below , the neighbours above, the house of the owners on one side and a new construction on the other). There are no real horizontal spaces so it is not really suitable for tents.
The toilets are new and clean. No shower or wash place however.
All on all to us it is more something like an emergency option.

Owners are indeed friendly and in the morning the immediately pointed out where the quetzals hung out. And that is probably the best reason to stay the night here (when it is quetzal season).
The other bonus is that you are close to the park entrances.

Beautiful botanical garden with camping in restaurant parking lot. There is no access to power, No Wi-Fi, no cell coverage, and no shower.

We arrived in the dark (7.30pm) but no problem with the roads or finding this spot. The gate was closed, so we honked and Jenny came out.

She said it‘s not a problem to arrive late (and that we should put this Information on IOverlander as well). Her phone number is 86806532.

We saw Quetzals all day long in the tree next to the gate and many Colibris. Amazing!

Jenny and her husband are super friendly and welcoming.

No internet or wifi, but our Starlink worked (we put it on the roof of the small building with the Claro Antenna)

Report Check-In

Very nice and tranquil spot in a beautiful area! No view of the mountains but there is a nice lookout you can walk to that is about 10 minutes from the campsite. We negotiated for 6000 colones per night for two persons without using the shower. The toilets seem new and are very clean and close to the camp. We didn't spot any Quetzals, the friendly owner told us that it's more likely to see them between June/July and December.

If you are after sightings of the Quetzal. Then this place is for you! Jenny and her husband will help you spot them and are very knowledgeable about all the bird species. As previously described it was a very cool night. Although close to the road there is very little traffic and the location is set in a beautiful and peaceful location. 8000 colones for the three of us. Definitely recommend, we’re returning in a few weeks with family who are visiting.

Very nice place for stay one night. Francisco received us warmly. We had the access to a little bathroom with toilet and shower (cold) and electricity. The socket is few metres away from the parking space. That’s why I recommend to have a long cable. Another point which you should know the night was VERY cold. We had between 3 to 5 degrees.

Report Check-In

Slept here for one night for 8000c for two persons. Area is nice and safe. At night it’s getting „cold“, so we had about 10 degrees. There is also a very cute dog. The restaurant looks very good but we didn’t eat there.

The bathroom is ok and clean. There is very bad internet connection and no WIFI.

They now have a widow maker shower head and use that as a reason to charge 4000 colones per person per night.
We could negociante for 6000 colones for two people without use of the shower.

Nice place, had no luck with Quetzales, though.

Great place, nice people and very quiet, hot shower and toilet. High in mountain, 10 km from Volcan Irazu. Very cold at night, 14 degrees Celsius. Recommend this place!

Mirador Paso del Quetzal is a very beautiful place! Jenny, the owner is super friendly and when we arrived she could directly show us a quetzal in the tree!

As it was super cold in this area, we did stay in the Cabinas in stead of out tent. Luckily, this was possible as she hurried to make the Cabinas ready.

She runs a soda at the same place so we could have diner and breakfast here.

Would definitely recommend this place!

Great place to stop. Room for maybe 3 vans, and one cabana set behind a roadside soda. Toilet and cold shower, although shower was broken so Jenny let us use the cabana for a hot shower. Lots of birds, 2km from Irazu volcano park, which has great walking trails ($5 entry), quiet and secluded.

Report Check-In

Very good place to stay a couple of nights and visit the volcan Irazu! There are several quetzales living in the area and they eat the fruits of the tree in the middle of the camping - we saw one of them in the morning! Very friendly hosts!

Enjoyed camping here. Paid 3,000 per adult and 2,000 per child. We loved the swings. It’s a beautiful area and was a nice change from the beach. It gets very cold but is green and lush with lots of farmlands around. We had lots of great meals prepared by Jenny and she is very friendly. We watched her husband milk their cow too. Didn’t spot any quetzals but stayed here while we went to see Volcan Irazu (about a 30 min drive).

Very nice family and property. 3,000C per person now. Bathroom with cold shower. They let us use the picnic tables out front of the restaurant to cook and hang out. They have a small rustic Cabin as well for $15,000C for 24 hours, has a washroom with hot shower.

Nice wellcome from Jenny and her family, we enjoy having a diner. Unforunatly, we did not see the Quetzal, we recommand this place.

Be sure to take 219 here, and not the alternate 218 that maps.me uses! Beautiful spot but close see when we were here. Most likely due to storms as we saw lots of mud slides in the area. As it is on the route to the national, park, hopefully they will reopen again soon. No one was around for us to ask questions.
