great view, pretty quiet, we stayed with only one other tent with our overlander. good infrastructure, no Cell Phone reception
Report Check-InWe had a’National Geographic’ Day - wonderful game viewing and the Serengeti is getting green for summer. The Lobo Public Campsite needs help - campers have left cigarette butts everywhere and bottle caps. Why? If the kitchen area had a wash-up facility it would be perfect - we arrived and 15 mins later the rain clouds arrived so we were dry and fairly cosy with people from Germany, the UK and the USA.
Report Check-InLobo is what we hoped the Serengeti would be. Lush, green, teeming with wildlife. Not a lot of flat spots to camp, so be warned. Wish we had more time here. Keep your fingers crossed that if there are any tours at camp at least their people are quiet. It’s a small space. Very windy at night and cold, so come prepared!
Report Check-InBeautiful view from the campsite, WC are new and kept very clean. Friendly warden. We stayed here 3 nights with a roof top tent, had buffalos, giraffes and lions around. The road here is a bit challenging but nothing a 4wd truck can't deal with.
⚠️: because the campsite is behind a small hill, it gets dark earlier (around 19:00 it is almost completely dark in June), and there's tons of animals around so you don't want to be hanging around after that. Plan to get there with plenty of time to negotiate the road and set up your tent.
Had this campsite to ourselves for 2 nights and were very impressed. New ablution block is finished and in good order.
However can imagine how full it can get in peak season.
Paid (Jun 2021 to Jun 2022 prices):
USD 30pppn camping
USD 70pppn conservation fees
USD 40 per car per day (under 2000kg tare, forgoing registered vehicle)
18% must be added to all of the above.
Note most roads in the North of the Serengeti were very overgrown at this time and travelling around the park was very slow.
Payments can be made at all gates and airstrips.
Report Check-Inthe new (and highly necessary) ablution block is nearly finished. campsite still looked under construction. nice view. buffalos and antelopes around.
Report Check-InLot of tour operator on the campsite.
Toilets are very basic but do flush. Showers are cold. A new ablution block is just being built.
Lobo is a gorgeous area with loads of wildlife - and tsetse flies. The region was almost totally empty of other visitors in late December. Campsite has moderately-clean cold showers and flush toilets. Outdoor tap for washing dishes. Enclosed kitchen prep and eating areas used by mobile safari groups. Nowhere to leave rubbish.

Report Check-InThis is a beautiful spot in the middle of the Serengeti with a lot of wildlife around. It is a small grassy campsite behind a hill. We were surrounded by the great migration of wildebeest and a lot of buffalo which was stunning. Ablution block is ok with a flush toilet and cold water shower. The guard there did his best to keep it well maintained in the middle of nowhere. For us it´s totally worth to spend at least one night here.
