iOverlander cannot verify if wild camping is permitted at this location. It is your responsibility to verify local laws or obtain consent before staying the night.
Simple spot, accessible without 4WD right at the beach, next to the lighthouse.
Friendly locals come here for the sunset & fishing.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We stayed one night on the beach. We were camped with friends and felt relatively safe. Free but no washrooms and only one garbage can. There were some other people in vans that were using the beach as their toilet and abandoning both excrement and toilet paper on the beach. Other than that it seemed like a good place to stay.
Report Check-InExpect the weekends to be loud here. This isn't a private campground so if you don't like the noise move on and let locals enjoy.
Report Check-InNice and quiet during the week but can get very noisy near lighthouse pear with loud music on weekends. Lino’s family (café and some facilities) is very friendly and helpful. We stayed 10 days. Great cell com. We camped on the River side hidden and protected from ocean wind. Used our canoe in the river. As always, we cleaned some trash (not to bad). Not a sand beach. Tide comes high so be aware finding your spot if you are on the River side.

Report Check-InStayed for two nights, seaweed, windy and rocky. That being said, it was very safe and quiet. Garbage cans. Watch the sand by the faro, had to pull out a van. Decent cell service. Friendly locals.
Report Check-InWe didn’t sleep here but stoped by to get to the ocean for a min. Be careful. There are some areas that are deceptively soft even with the rocks and we got stuck here in our 2WD van.
Report Check-InIf you enjoy birds this is an amazing place. Rocky beach with a mangrove near by. They have trash cans that are regularly picked up. Friendly campers and locals too.
Report Check-InGreat spot. Arrived at sunset. Only two other cars, super quiet, beautiful views in Every direction.
Report Check-Instayed here for the night. couple of other overlanders were also staying here. when I got here quite a few locals were here sightseeing. They all left when the sunset. I saw couples of dolphins swimming in the distance. Beach is rocky. Met Dave Ray that has been boondocking in his RV trailer for 2 months. He told me it was very safe.
T Mobil signal a little slow. when surfing net. took quite a while to download photos.
Report Check-InPerfect little free beachside spot. Victor and Juanita who run El Patron restaurant at the end of the beach are so lovely and kind + make great food and drinks. Victor even built the palapas apparently! Beach is rocky, wind can pick up in the afternoon and overnight. A drunk local tried to take advantage of us and say we needed to pay to be here, don’t fall to that sort of opportunism, this is a free spot. Trash cans + 3 palapas, otherwise no other services. Easy access to get into town though the streets in Mulege are tiny tiny.
Report Check-InGreat spot right on the water. Busy during the day but very quiet at night.
Cell was usable, Starlink was clear.
I backed up between two palapas and was perfectly level.
I felt safe as a solo female.
Great spot for vans or other smaller rigs. Restaurants very close, but I didn't try them.
Report Check-InExcellent free camping near the lighthouse. A few Palapas available for the lucky. Good snorkeling at the base of the cliffs. Full bars ATT. No problems with access once you negotiate the narrow downtown streets.
Path getting in here were a bit “short” and right but it was all worth it. We’re 11ft 11inches tall and we were just fine. Gets a little loud at night with locals coming in and out but that’s fine. Just turn some white noise on. Free free free free palapas

You can go really close to that area with 2WD beautiful camping spots for big rigs, pets are welcome and Garbarge cans available.
Report Check-InStayed here for a night. The sunset was gorgeous, palapas are available & you can fall asleep to the ocean waves. Would not recommend larger rigs to come here as the roads of mulege are VERY tiny. To get to this location you have to drive “downtown” mulege and if there’s a car parked on the side of the road it can make it difficult. Our friend in a shuttle bus almost got stuck.

Report Check-InBeautiful spot. Locals come driving in the night so it's a little bit noisy until 10 pm but it's free.99. Would stay again on my way back up Baja from cabo
Report Check-InLots of space, laguna less wind than the ocean side, sometimes Locals with music, waste boxes, many birds, very nice place, not far to town (4KM), police controll this place, no Problems, sandy
Report Check-InWe stayed here two nights. No loud music and no one else accept for a few locals. Road turns to first about 1/3 mile before the camping area.

Report Check-Injust wanted to add that there is cell coverage in this area, a tower between the city center and beach.
Report Check-InStayed next to the palapas. Didn’t get bothered by anyone. A dozen cars came throughout the evening and early am. Met some snowbirds on their daily walk. The 4 am car- yelling something in Spanish as they drove out- was interesting.
Felt safe. I’m sure there are more peaceful areas.
Nice place right on the beach. We were 5 overlanders for the night. In the morning, workers are coming at the lighthouse. I loved the view of the ocean and the birds fishing.
Report Check-InI arrived at the other wild camping place over the other side of the RV Park. Police came and I asked them if it was OK to camp here. They said it was fine but they recommended another spot they called 'la playa'. Its literally the other side of the RV park but you have front row seats to the water. On the left side there are some very nice houses. Amazing sunrise in the morning. Very quiet in the night. Felt very safe.
Report Check-InQuiet place, lightouse closed
Place très tranquille dommage le phare n'est plus accessible même a pied.
We stayed 1 night. Good spot. No amenities and nearby restaurants were closed. Lots of locals there enjoying the scenery. Be careful not to get stuck in the sand. We did, and within minutes, a local helped us. Other overlanders there as well.
Report Check-InGreat spot. We stayed next to one of the palapas. A bunch of cyclists and a couple vehicle tenters stayed as well. Early in the evening two municipal policia and two federal policia trucks pulled up and checked our id's. They were friendly and didn't seem to mind us staying overnight. Mulege is a really cool town that is very clean and has many restaurants, a laundromat and grocery store.
Report Check-Instayed overnight, nice place, plenty of wood it you're prepared to go into the public toilet/Mangrove area opposite the beach. police came by at night patrolling.
ground is very hard, so was a challenge setting up my tent with pegs.
We stopped at this beach with palapas and planty of space, right in front of the sea. Very quiet and safe. Nice place to wake up ;)
Report Check-InThe palapas are public and for free but this place is quite ugly and stony compared to all the other beaches down from here. I've been in the RV park Huerta Don Chano and shared the place with another Israelin guy to reduce the costs.
Report Check-InLovely seaside location. We were hoping for a cooling breeze but didn't find it here, super hot and humid in September. met some nice locals but quiet at night. Watch out for the two gorgeous strays who will pull your heartstrings and make you want to take them home! Give them some water if you see them 🐶
Report Check-InGood place to hangout with locals on Sunday night. Do they not work on Mondays? By 3am we gave up and went to find a different spot to get at least some sleep.
Report Check-InGreat spot on a rockey beach. Locals busy on a Sunday afternoon but quiet at night. Windy at times but hey...you are on a beach! Park in the open unless you need a palapa because locals use them for their family gathering. No toilets but you can use the ones at the restaurant if you buy a meal or a drink.
Report Check-InThe military asked us to move towards the palapas because the place near the lightlouse has no light. But... there's no light either near the palapas. ;)
Funny because the next morning we found that another Overlander had parked at the first place. Haha !
Music and car cruising until 10pm then very quiet. Strong wind.
This is a clean and safe place to camp out for a day or 2 while checking out the cool town of Mulegé. I would recommend checking out ponchos restaurant close by, good food and wi-if and Yolanda is very friendly.
Report Check-Ingood spot for the night that's free. wouldn't recommend sleeping here on the weekend unless you want to party with the locals. ponchos villa is within walking distance. food is a little expensive but Yolanda makes everything herself in the kitchen. she is very friendly. she offers you a shower and you can sleep behind the restaurant if you need. cute little place where you can just hang out and meet other travelers.
Report Check-InThere are some palapa here. Parking right on the Rockie beach. Quiet, nice view. Fire rings are organized with rocks. Near town. Nice spot except fishermen come early to drop their boats so be ready to wake up early !
Report Check-InLoud reving engines until midnight, next night 10 or more vehicles of partying kids show up at 3:30 and spread out over the whole area. Cove to the north is much quieter.
Report Check-InGood spot to sleep in Mulege. A couple of palapas there, beach is nice and feels safe, some other campers there. As with Punta Prieta it's pretty windy but at least this is more accesible to downtown Mulege.
Report Check-InSimple spot, accessible without 4WD right at the beach, next to the lighthouse.
Friendly locals come here for the sunset & fishing.
