Description

The road out here is rough but you don’t need 4x4 - just a lot of patience. The grounds are very clean so let’s please try to keep it that way. Pack in pack out. They do have pit toilets which is super convenient. I saw 4 burros and there is rumored to be sheep in the mountains. The cell service out here is excellent.

Rough road in… wish us luck climbing out! Our sprinter is not the largest thing out here and we have 4x4 and low gear - so it’s gonna be OK eventually

Lovely and in no way level in any way

We parked on the old road, or maybe boat ramp - over a hundred yards from the water and 40 feet or more above the water level

Report Check-In

beautiful spot. locals come to fish but didn't seem to be that many people. I am in a promaster van and made it out but there is a very rough up hill stretch that is changing. 4x4 would be better. I saw people with travel trailers there but I think getting in and out with one would be challenging as well. wild burros come around looking for handouts. trails available.

Report Check-In

Very nice place, the view is wonderful! Be careful with the road there is a place where the passage is quite sharp with many bumps. We did it with our sprinter not 4x4 but I think the best is to have a 4x4.

Report Check-In

Gorgeous spot, lots of relatively level places to pull off and park. Pretty rough getting in, very washboard-y and a couple of steep grades, though I did see a couple of sedans down by the water so very possible with patience if you go slowly. Pit toilets are very convenient, bring your own toilet paper. No trash cans, but very little trash for how busy it is. Saw at least a dozen rigs camping, plus lots of traffic in and out all through the day and even well after dark (currently 10:30 pm and still pretty steady flow in/out), seems like a popular paddle boarding and day drinking spot as well.

Cell service is Great, able to text, call, and FaceTime (T-Mobile).

I’ve already seen 4 burros, only been here for a few hours. They are EXTREMELY bold and entirely unphased by me talking to them or my flashlight so be aware lol.

Overall 9/10 simply because it’s SO busy and it’s difficult to get far enough off the road so the sound of the cars driving by doesn’t disturb you at night, would definitely return

Report Check-In

The road in is quite washboardy. The mules were at the site when we pulled up. Only 2 other campers. The far left side seems to be the good fishing spot. Not much trash and gorgeous views.

Report Check-In

I can definitely see this place getting busy, but it was not an issue last night. About 4 rigs when we got here and a few more arrived overnight. People are certainly feeding the wildlife, they are brazen and curios.

Report Check-In

love this spot, can get busy but thankfully in mid November it's not too bad. there is one spot on a hill where my 2wd struggled a little bit while driving out but we made it! def. going back

Report Check-In

We stayed at this location for a week. We drove up in our 2WD Sprinter and the other reviews have it right, the road in is ROUGH. There are a couple of smoother parts of the road, but two main areas where washboard doesn't even begin to cover it. The final stretch before you reach the lake is a small decline, but feels a bit scary because of the state of the road. Lots of people were in and out during the weekend to fish and kayak, but it's easy to find a spot and there is plenty of parking. If you want a spot by the water, snag one as soon as you see it because they're in demand. There are two paved (ish) areas further from the water, but even then a majority of the spots are either on an incline or not level. People used levelers or just flat rocks to even themselves out. By the water was fairly level. There are fire rings spread throughout the area, bring your own firewood. There's not a tree in sight. We made friends with other campers and their pets (most are not on leash, ours was).
We are two women and felt totally safe there the entire time.

Verizon and AT&T coverage was excellent.

*There is a family of wild burros that walks into the campsites most mornings and evenings - they will eat your food if you leave it out. They aren't aggressive but do NOT like little dogs.

Report Check-In

Wowowow! Genuinely can’t believe this is a free campsite. There are pullouts on the dirt road if you’re too nervous to drive the full 3-4 miles on the rocky road, but I HIGHLY recommend taking the time to drive all the way to the lake. Its really not that bad of a road when dry, but you just have to take your time. I drove 5-10 mph the whole way. It’s a BEAUTIFUL spot. You can pull right up to the lake and sleep there. Don’t know if you’d be able to find a super level spot but honestly i think it’s worth it for the view. I pulled up right after the sun set and I would probably recommend getting here in the light just because it is so rocky. But I pulled up 30 mins after the sun set in a Honda pilot and I still made it work. There are people fishing and hanging out but I honestly don’t blame them because it’s just so incredible.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

I stayed here Friday night on my RV. the road in is kinda rough. There was a party going on. The dog barked a few times in the night. in the morning I found evidence of someone trying to break in. if you stay here just be vigilant.

Report Check-In

Great place for sunset views over the lake. My Honda Accord made it just fine through the dirt road. Full 5G service with T-Mobile once you get to the wash. Bunch of open spots with firepits.

Report Check-In

Amazing spot on the water. Clear and clean and great for dogs to get their swim on. Totally doable for 2wd and plenty of spots to camp on/near water or great overlooks on way in

Report Check-In

About 5k from the highway so we decided to stay in one of the pits along the road close to the highway. Very beautiful and quiet. Also very close to the hoover dam.

Report Check-In

Large wash on the edge of lake mead several un developed sites with fire rings Seems to be popular with fishermen
It’s a washboard 5km drive in off route 93 on Kingman wash road

Report Check-In

Great place busy but plenty of spots. Good cell service

Report Check-In

nice area 3 miles from the highway. 5 folks on a Wednesday night, but plenty of places to crash. we had a truck, but the road looks fine if you take it slow. beautiful views. unfortunately no donkeys but plenty of donkey poop.

Report Check-In

Great place to camp! If you follow the dirt road the full 5 miles you’ll arrive in a beautiful canyon and can drive right up to the water. Watch out for animals at night though! Saw a donkey and a few wolves run through camp. Harmless, but be mindful of animals!
Felt safe as a solo female

Report Check-In

Felt like I was going the wrong way for too long at night, but eventually made it to the wash where others were camped. Good cell service on Tmobile (none on the road leading up to the wash). Nice views of the lake.

Report Check-In

Wow! Beautiful drive in! The road is rugged and adventurous. Best view up close of Fortification Hill. Looks like you can 4x4 up to the top of it from this road.

Report Check-In

Great Lakeside camping. 2-3 bar signal on T-Mobile

Report Check-In

Road wasn’t bad. Made it down in my low clearance sedan. However, I couldn’t make it back out. The gravel was too loose and couldn’t make it up the 1st hill and had to get help. It was pretty quiet when we were here, probably because it’s November. Good signal. It’s not super clean, there’s broken glass and fireworks. Please be considerate and keep this place beautiful and clean. The wild donkeys are friendly and will let you pet them, just clean up any food they might eat. We also saw and heard coyotes at camp.

Report Check-In

Nice landscape, espacially at sunrise and sunset.
Lot of people on the week-end.
The 3 miles dirt road is fine for almost all type of cars.
US people used to drive fast, even at the end of the road, leading to a lot of dust in the air.

Report Check-In

It was awesome till Friday hit. Swarmed and felt like I was in California again. Trucks park 20 feet from any rig they can. Dogs running everywhere and shitting everywhere. I like dogs but not people who let their dog shit on a beach…and leave it. Def’n a party scene on the weekend. First negative review in one year on the road.

Report Check-In

Awesome camp spots down a rough wash board road. Took our 19 ft travel trailer and had no issues other than the expected stuff shifting a little inside the camper. Did the entire trail in 2wd.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot! There were other campers there in vans, buses and travel trailers but everyone kept to themselves for the most part except one random intoxicated man but felt safe for the most part. Some locals where swimming and hanging out. Coyotes and Burrows did visit this area a few times throughout the day. If your lucky you will find a spot with a fire ring however the wind was really strong. There is a pit toilet but could be a long walk if you park down by the water. Dirt road in was decent.

Report Check-In

A little over 3 miles off the paved road you’ll find this beautiful camp spot. The road is very wash boarded, but any type of vehicle will make it, you just have to take the bumps. We even saw a couple Honda civics to put into perspective. The site is beautiful, right on lake mead. Fore warning… we stayed on a Saturday and it 100% is used as a local hangout as a group of maybe 30 off road rigs showed up right behind us. Everyone was respectful and kept the noise down. Unfortunately not everyone picks up after themselves as there is some trash on the shore lines and scarred throughout. Also the coyotes are not afraid of humans as we had multiple within yards of our campsite. The next morning we also saw a few burros. Overall this place was beautiful and one of the better urban camping spots, would highly recommend

Report Check-In

AMAZING spot right on lake mead. It’s about 3 miles down a gravel dirt road. It’s not bad but it just takes a while. My 1995 econoline made it going pretty slow. Great cell service with Verizon. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful. I passed a bathroom on the way, though not sure the condition of the toilets. Lots of trash though so please pick up after yourself!! Highly recommend this spot though.

Report Check-In

Pretty spot right in the lake. Not for big rigs. Mostly vans. Good cell phone service. Stayed 4 nights. Some local day use. Hard to find a flat spot.

Report Check-In

Great dispersed camping spot near Vegas and the Hoover Dam. Spent a nice, quiet Friday night here (didn't hear any music from other campers). Definitely some small bits of trash around, stuff like broken bottles, bottle caps, and food wrappers. Not too bad but definitely reminds you that you are still close to a major city lol.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot, plenty of spots, pretty clean. Just a few other people in mid March. Road was quite accessible if you go slow.

Report Check-In

No need for 4x4 to get there. Lots of people on a Saturday, we showed up early and got a spot. 4x4 opens up more options in the wash. Coyote(s?) came out just before dusk and lingered around the area all evening. Way too used to people for their own good.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot on Lake Mead! We stayed quite a ways away from the lake because it was so packed and we wanted a private spot. Please be considerate when parking by the lake. We saw 2 coyotes that would come very close to people (probably picking up scraps) and at least 3 burros! We made it just fine in our 2WD Promaster, just be aware of the soft dirt/rocks and you should be fine. We also needed parking blocks to find level. Great Verizon reception!

Report Check-In

based on the feedback of others I thought I'd give it a shot in my Van. I'll just say I'm glad to be alive and no, I wasn't able to make it through the 6ft ditches the loose sand pits or tiny roads over tall peaks. not practical at all unless you want to get stuck or worse.

Report Check-In

lovely spot by the water. and lots of people come out here just to fish for the day. yes, the road is a bit bumpy on the way out but you don't need high clearance or 4x4. there was actually a bus-sized rig out there so if they can make it, you probably can too.
we spotted the burros, which were pretty cool, and saw a coyote steal someone's fish (😂) so be aware of them.
all in all, I'd stay here again.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot… came here with our 40 ft converted school bus. The road was rough to say the least. Take it slow and you should be ok with high clearance. There are many coyotes so if you have small dogs, keep them inside at night. There are also wild burros that roam around. Super fun

Report Check-In

Great Verizon and T-Mobile service, fast enough to stream and FaceTime etc. lots of off roading and party people during the weekend. More to come during the day but doesn’t feel crowded. The music is the most annoying part. The drive down is not bad at all, we made it in our 2wd 22ft transit camper. We’ve done way worse roads and the drive in is gorgeous. Lots of coyotes and burros. Don’t leave your dogs off leash unattended, coyotes engaged with another dog and our dog. Not that big of a deal because they just run right back up into the canyon hills but if a pack of them were to gang up on a 60lb dog like ours…ugh. The lake is beautiful, although pretty smelly and there is trash in the water. Lots of pre-made rock fire pits everywhere and tons of space for everyone to feel private enough. If you camp next to the water you’ll have more of the noise and crowd.

Report Check-In

Came with my small rental car. 4wd drive is not required, reachable with low clearance vehicule if driven with caution.
Spot was clean, there were a dozen of groups but camp area is big.
We were waken up during the night by 4 burros and got breakfast with them.

Report Check-In

great views for sunrise and sunset.
dirt road but no need for 4x4, the PM handled it fine. .

Report Check-In

Super clean and it even has a bathroom, excellent T-Mobile service. There is quite a few people here but everyone has been nice. I even saw 4 burros and there is rumored to be sheep in the mountains as well.

Report Check-In

Uh-freakin-mazing!! Even arriving after dark, we were able to get a great spot right down by the lapping waves! Can’t wait til morning!
Word to the wise: when we left Henneman Harbor my Apple Maps said it would take an hour to get here. It was like 4 miles!! Lol. It kept telling us to park on a turnout and park the car, so I think it was counting walking time..??? Weird. I mean it IS all washboard dirt road the whole way but not terrible at all... and we’ll worth it. 4 bars and 5G are great!

Report Check-In

a nice location, very rough drive in... no need 4x4 but very bumpy road. nice spot on the water with good cell signal Verizon and TMobile.

Report Check-In

Gravel access road with spots to pull off leading up to the water. Great place to stay for the night!

Report Check-In

Lots of people. Beautiful views. Easier to find level with 4x4. Good reception with Verizon.

Report Check-In

Not often you find a waterfront campsite for free! Quite a few people here during the day and overnight, but didn’t feel crowded. The road in is three miles off the highway and bumpy with several tight turns. We made it no problem in a 2WD Sprinter. Some people definitely come here to party, so don't expect total peace and quiet. Good cell service on ATT.

Report Check-In

Very easy drive. No idea where there were 4x4 signs. Fills up fast, not that many spots if you want some distance from others. More people by lake. Check the wind before you go if tenting. Probably gets packed on weekends.

Watch out for the burros. They'll stalk you for food. Came right up to my tent and followed me when I was eating breakfast.

Report Check-In

This is a great site! The water was clear and beautiful. Kids loved hiking around and finding Little Rock caves. There are a few short moderate trails around the area for off roading also.

Report Check-In

Kingsman is wash this is a little local gem found it because of COVID-19 Hoover dam is closed take exit to where it’s worth it it’s definitely worth it It’s also a 14 day camping siteit’s a 10 out of 10 awesome

Report Check-In

Awesome 14 day camping it’s awesome here water is awesome just being here is dope found this little gem looking to get to the Hoover dam was closed and if your reading this GO HERE

Report Check-In

Quiet camping in Kingman Wash at Lake Mead. You do not have a great open view like from the sites on the Nevada side. Maybe in summer it is nice to get some shade from the canyonwalls but in November the sun is gone at 3 pm. At our visit Kingman Wash road was very washboardy and rotted especially at the steeper parts.

Report Check-In

stopped at second pull off on the left, not even close to the lake. several flat spots but road is rough. stayed for one night and close to highway. good T mobile

Report Check-In

Excellent dispersed camping. Beautiful views of the lake. Love that you can pull right up to the lake if you’d like. Definitely recommend a tarp under your tent if tent camping. Lots of rocks.

Report Check-In

Perfect view! Hiking swimming everything outdoors! Bathrooms! Pack in pack out though please and thank you!

Report Check-In

Made it out here in a 2WD sprinter van and Honda Civic. Wouldn’t suggest if it’s been rainy anytime recently. Great spot near the lake for some off grid camping. Cell service was not great. Drive down to water is 30 mins or more on the bumpy road.

Report Check-In

Beautiful. There is a fishing event going on at Lake Mead this weekend, so a lot of people going in and out. We took our 30 foot rig down this road, would not recommend more than 30 feet long. This is due to the trucks and the SUVs that don’t know how to pull out when vehicles go by and sharp cliffs.

Report Check-In

A really nice spot to spend a few days and explore the lake or the wash. We stayed over the Easter long weekend, there were lots of day users and quite a few overnighters. It didn't get too loud at night. But people must not realise that their voice carries and bounces off the surrounding rocks in this area; you can hear everyone else talking quite clearly. It's a shame how much toilet paper is just left on the ground, considering there is a pit toilet near by.

Report Check-In

About 20 other vehicles here, some playing loud music, some burning plastic. It's a really beautiful spot but I think I'd stay a little further away from the lake next time. Unless there is no one around then it would be amazing!

Report Check-In

Beautiful. You can pull right up to the lake or hang further back in the rocks. Free camping for up to 14 days. A couple different roads on the way in take you to different spots...sounded like old mines. We kept on main road down to the lake. The wind can kick up a bit.

Report Check-In

Might be hard to find a level spot, but a great location next to the lake.

Report Check-In

Greate dispersed camping. Lakeside Beautiful landscape, quite.
