Description

115/person/night. Big campground. Good wifi near main building. There are chairs and tables where you can sit and look out over man-made lake. You can also have a fire. There are plenty of tent spots next to lake. If you go straight back from main entrance, there is also a large level grass lot in disuse, with spigots and a dump point. But we don't think the staff realized this was for RVs; they asked us to park near the playground above the lake, which was pretty but not very level. Basically you can park where you'd like. They promised hot showers but later found out they were out of gas. Bathrooms hadn't been cleaned I'm days. But peaceful spot with little waterfalls and view of the volcano if you like to do yoga etc, and an alternative to the nearby Centro Vacacional if that is still closed.

Latest Check-Ins

This place is definitely not worthwhile. A grumpy guy took 300$ for 2 persons from us and the only possibility with a car is to go to a ugly parking lot. It is impossible to reach the grassy areas as there are stairs. There are water spigots at the parking lot and toilets in the restaurant. No showers. If you are lucky and climb up to the artiificial fishing pond you may have a good view of Popocatépetl.
We stayed the night as we had already payed but we would not recommend it.
There are much better options if you go further up the mountain on A San Batazar Atlimeyaya. Behind the village there is a large grassy area with a stunning view where I think you could stay the night.

165 Pesos for two persons and a camper. Really nice place at the trout lake. The truchas in the Restaurant were good. The problem was, we wanted a hot shower. I asked the first man of the staff about 1 pm. He said, it will be hot in 1 hour. An hour later, I asked the next man. He said in one hour. And so in. We had lukewarm showers at 7 pm!

This is a wonderful place to spend the night. Fenced in all around so our dog could run free. We were solo campers. Night watchman on premise. View is spectacular. A few fisherman in the morning. Next door to a school. Dinner in the plaza, which is beautiful as well. The town appears to be recovering from earthquake damage still. So cold last night! Great sleeping weather. A handful of mosquitos. Clean bathrooms, not sure about hot water for showers. Water taps at sites. Plugins but we don’t know if they work. There are people working on and keeping the grounds clean. Can’t recommend this place enough for camping! We were here on a Thursday night.

Report Check-In

We were the only campers. Stood on the large lot, so not a nice view, but OK.

Wifi is good in the restaurant.
