Description

Where the Zipolite letters are located, free parking, the entrance is on one side of a hotel, people come to take photos or go to the beach, a beautiful view and very quiet. I imagine the weekend must be noisy at night, I don't know. The civil guard and the police passed by and at no time did they say anything to us. Local people told us that it was free and if we could, we stayed 3 nights during the week very comfortable and calm

They blocked the acces to camp right on the beach like last year, close to the zipolite sign. It is not free anymore they charge 50 pesos/persons. Still a nice spot

This area (near the Zipolite sign and the dirt lot with the mural) is open for day use only. Like previous commenters, I was addressed by a guy who said it’s not allowed. Said he’s the town chief.

i was probably an hour there when just after sunset another person came, Tino, from the hotel, said that he should be totally boycotted!! he had a threathening vibe and said I had to leave within 10 minutes?!?! or he called the cops?!? I told him he was nobody with right to threaten people. but didn't want to start trouble. Went to park nearby, Big lot behind sal y pimienta. Police came around 12 and told me to leave?!?they don't seem to be welcoming campers any longer in public places.

Me and another 3 Overlanders were “asked” to leave by 2 police officers. While I was driving out, another 3 officers carrying big guns walked fast across the soccer field towards this parking spot. Unnecessary display of power… Ridiculous.
The manager of the hotel next door is the person calling them. The day before, he came to me and said I could spend the day, but not the night. I went to camping La Habana for the night, but came back today to cook my lunch, and found other 3 Overlanders here.
Saw Tino (the jealous manager) looking at us at a distance, before police arrived.

Spent 3 nights here and loved this place. Quiet at night and amazing sleeping so close to the sea. There's no shade at all during the day.

Stayed here two nights. The second day a local came and told us we couldn’t camp and he would call the police, which he didn’t. The police patrol regularly and don’t care. They did speak to us but just asked us to move the camper slightly, not to leave. Nice beach, great to be so close to it. Not to busy except on Sunday. Would recommend it.

Location is amazing however they seem to be changing the rules about camping here. We had the police come and tell us we can not sleep here and to move near the AA close by Geminis Pizza.
They let us stay this 1 night as an exception as it was late but we are going to try and stay a second and see if they come back again. :-)
If not we will add the "legal" parking area to iOverlander.
The story is that there was a huge nude festival here at the start of Feb and Campers where parked everywhere, people complained and now it's no longer allowed.

Just on the beach. No shade but some free palapas on the Beach. Not the cleanest place but nice view. Some little shops within 2 mins walk. Water in carafons delivered everyday on the beach.
We even could dump.We stayed two weeks.
Might get very windy under heavy storms.

it's still available and free. But all cleaned up now. looks like a construction ist starting soon... so better be quick.

Pleasant night right by the ocean in our truck and camper. No one bothered us, nor asked for money. one other van from Cali parked there later in the evening as well. In the morning there was a team of people cleaning up trash in the lot but they didn't say anything to us. (We didn't ask the hotel if it was ok either).

Report Check-In

We spent 3 nights here. Parked right next to the hotel (ants’ nest on other spots). When we checked with the hotel staff they mentioned we might pay to ‘someone’, but nobody came and we couldn’t find anyone. Nobody bothered and we felt very safe. Open wifi seems not to be available anymore though. We couldn’t find the network. 4g works fine. Windy, not too many mosquitoes and strong sea! Loved it here! Be aware it’s a naked beach.

Report Check-In

Sandy lot in front of the ocean, next to a hotel, stayed one week, there are many showers you can use at the campings for 10-15 pesos, abarrotes near by and restaurants at the village, 10 minutes walk. No shadow.

Report Check-In

we parked on the right side when you look at the ocean next to a small hostal/bar. the lady was super unfriendly and said we can not stay here because it is the parking lot of her hostal. or we have to pay 25pesos per person for using the toilet. then we moved 50m to the left. there was the friedly security guy from the big white hotel and he said this land is owned by the comunidad. that means it has a lot of owners and isnt sold at this time. he also said it is safe and it is ok to park here.

Good free spot.
Quiet and feel safe.
Direct on the beach !

Report Check-In

We stayed on this place some nights. We felt save and you have a direct view and access to the beach. There is no shade and we had problems with some agressive red ants which also came in the van, maybe it depends where you park the van, just look for them first. But at all, it’s a nice place for free to stay in Zipolite.

Report Check-In

Stayed here for a night and had no problems at all was quiet at night for sleeping too. Good for a free spot.

Report Check-In

Perfect location to sleep in Zipolite, right next to the beach.
Road is a bit tight coming from the east, best to keep going one more block and take the next road after the playground.
Wifi is not just for half an hour: make sure you forget the network and reconnect and you'll be online again - though you probably won't need much internet, this beach is just beautiful!
Beware of the strong currents in the sea - there were a couple of accidents while we were there.
Stayed 2 nights, lovely place.

Report Check-In

As described: empty lot next to a hotel right on the beach, sandy in some parts and no shade at all. Nobody cared except the tourists in the hotel next gave us some stares from their balconies :-) free, no amenities but the beautiful sunset is included!

Report Check-In

Amazing spot. Next to the beach. The owner of the hotel was super friendly! He doesn't mind having travelers he just wants us to clean up after our selves (of course). Enjoy!

Report Check-In

Open space right on the beach. Right beside hotel Estrella de mar. We just parked there and nobody ask for any money. The night guard of the hotel came to see us around 8 pm to ask if everything is alright and if we needed anything. Free wifi access for 30 minutes. There’s one palapa on the site. There’s enough space for 3-4 rigs. Sorry the picture is upside down.

Report Check-In

Free and right on the beach, what more do you need? The site had a small amount of construction debris when we were here but not enough to bother us. The sound of the waves is something amazing, but I spent half the night wondering if we'd get washed away!
