Mixed feelings about this place.
Good WiFi, clean showers/toilets, nice kitchen, beautiful bay.
The camping area is really tight, most of the nearby reef is dead, some weird vibes in town if you are out after dark
Report Check-InNice relaxed little campsite, beautiful place for snorkeling and great for meeting other travellers. Highly recommended.
Report Check-InOur fourth stay here within the last years. Don Taco will always be a place we‘ll return when we are in the area. Happy to be back.
Report Check-InA wonderful place with very friendly owners, everything is very well maintained, clean toilets and showers, kitchen, hammocks, well suited for camping, with a tent ⛺ and about 4 places for motorhomes, internet and palapas on the beach, a good place to take a boat trip or just to relax. Good restaurants nearby! This place is really recommended! Thanks Annette and Frans, we came for 1 and say 3 nights, and make a Boot - Tour! 😁🇨🇭
Report Check-InA very good camping spot. Directly at the beach, very friendly and supportive hosts, very good facilities on site, lot‘s of shade and a friendly dog „Don Taco“.
8 of 12km is dirt road … but worth the ride.
As many experience at Don Taco you come for one night and end up staying longer. In my case 5 nights. It is easy to explain why, because the place is in a wonderful location, the owners are very nice, friendly and help you were they can, toilets and showers work, are not damaged as in so many, if not all other places, and they have fast internet. And right on the beach. Place are all level. Good fish restaurant next door.
So, yes, it is a bit more expensive than the others, but rightfully so given the location and the facilities offered, including washing your clothes. Excellent kitchen and cooking equipement, electricity, tables to eat or sit, and ample places with provide you shade out of the sun. Hang-mats.
All in all camping Don Taco is in the top three campings I have stayed at during the last two years in South and Middle America. A holiday within your holiday at this relaxing camping. Wished I could have stayed longer.
Report Check-InNice campground right at the beach; we haven’t been closer to the beach since Baja. Run by a nice Dutch overlander couple. Facilities are great (kitchen, shower, clean toilets, communal area under a palapa with hammocks and chairs and tables). Snorkel sets available for rent. Yes it’s a bit expensive, but all places at the beach where we have stayed so far, have less facilities or are more expensive. So in my opinion it is totally worth it.
Report Check-InGreat, and bad.... For the great. it is clean, relaxing, and even though the waves can be less calm than expected, it is still nice, and has an awesome reef if you walk to the end of the beach! The place is small and they really pack you in, but I sort of liked that with other overlanders that were very cool to meet! The owners are nice enough. The beach does get crowded due to lots of tour busses and big tour boats showing up all day. But here is my issue. It was expensive! 350 per night and then another 100 per young child (4 and 6 years old). I did talk him into cutting that to just 100 due to there age, but 450 still seems a bit high. But ok since we were nearly out of water and power and needed to do laundry. We stayed 2 nights and we're given about 10 gallons. We were told over and over it was because they were waiting on more water, but after the delivery he said no water for anyone under 3 nights and 10 gallons was a favor! We did not understand this, so we showered etc in our van rather than the shower they provide! It was very hot, and we had been talking about finally using pur AC once we got to this expensive camp that provided power. But a little electricity is 50pesos more and AC use is not allowed! we did not pay, and just used power sparingly. It ended up not beeing toooo hot to sleep anyway. So we were completely out of clothes and asked to do laundry, knowing there would be a charge. they said after the water delivery. so we waited. Then they said no cause they didn't even have enough power to make it through the night! looks like they have about 10 300w pannels. So I understand there power deficiency better, but still, we were getting very little of what we came for! Not to mention, before we left, we asked to dump our tiny cassette toilet and were told absolutely not! because we only stayed 2 nights and paid 900 pesos! We would not have used our own toilet and supplies if we had known! There toilets are very nice to be fair. But we felt over charged for a product that was misrepresented and left with less water, and power, and more black than we arrived with! All of this after I saved his personal boat from disaster and had to break down camp to move so he could squeeze more people in. We did have a good time, but its sad that the owners, as former overlanders, let our family go worse off than we arrived 😢. Definitely some cultural differences and I do understand they are basically an off grid rig themselves, with limited resources. But then why the high price 🤔.... We were able to dispose of a small amount of trash there atleast. Just know what you are getting into, and it will be a better experience for you 😀
Report Check-InAwesome campsite!!! My wife and I turned up on our motorcycles and had only planned on staying one night... but ended up staying four!
The campsite is excellent, super clean bathrooms and showers, fast WiFi, great outdoor kitchen and seating area. Plenty of places to pitch our tent on soft sand. And you're right on the beach! which is stunning, very clean and the water warm.
Franz and his wife (the owners) are lovely people and super friendly, making us feel very welcome.
There was a great little community of overlanders staying there and we had a blast.
I'd recommend bringing supplies if you want to cook your own food, there's plenty of restaurants but no small taco stands, all beach front types. There's a couple of small tiendas but with limited supplies.
Overall, fantastic place and very highly recommended!
Report Check-InFrans and Anneke named their campground after their sweet little dog, traveld themselves a lot, can tell funny stories about that and love talking to their guests, but also don’t bother you if you have your me-/familytime.
They offer services like laundry, big water bottles and beer for a small price, tents and kayaks for rent and a cool snorkeling tour, witch is very worth to do. They have big heart for all kind of overlanders and they are both very kids-friendly people.
The Don Taco Camp is a paradise on this beautiful beach. As described you can find everything that makes an Overlander-Heart beat faster. There is not much space for RVs, so you better call or write Frans in advance. And once you are arrived, you will stay longer as you first planned. This was true for everyone we met there. The community in between the guests was extraordinary during our stay.
Thank you all for your hospitality! We loved and enjoyed our stay very much and will come back!
Report Check-InFabulous spot right on the beach. Very clean toilets and showers. Fully stocked outside kitchen that can be used, including a fridge but no freezer. Best to come fully loaded, do your shopping at La Cruzecita at Chedraui or Soriana. Not much around in San Augustin. Very relaxing, good swimming in the bay and WiFi works well. Ask Anneke if you need a load of laundry done. We paid M$75 for one load. Can definitely recommend this place.
Report Check-InCame for a day. stayed a week. 400 pesos with electricity. Showers. starlink internet. room for 3 to 5 rv's. tons of tent area and car parking .
Report Check-InA lot of hype regarding Don Tacos - and the beach is unbelievably good (clean, safe, beautiful, calm water for swimming). Don Tacos site itself is also decent. There is a communal sitting area, a well stocked (pots and pans) kitchen and a couple of showers. As others have said, there is space at the back for big rigs and semi-shaded spots on the front for tents. Overall it’s a lovely place and I would recommend a stop here but I would also note that it’s super busy. Don Taco packs everyone in and so there is not loads of space and/or privacy. This also means it’s often noisy around the site (don’t expect to sleep in!). In addition and as previous comments have also noted, the locals state that Don Taco isn’t well liked owing to the way he treats them. I spoke to a couple of locals on the beach, who both echoed he can be rude/angry to them - which feels a real shame!
Report Check-InWe (two cyclists) stayed at Don Taco for 6 nights. We had a great time, met many nice other overlanders/travelers and of course the amazing owners Frans and Anneke which were very accommodating. The campsite is clean and has everything you want to relax. The beach is 30m from the campsite and really good for swimming and snorkelling, for which you can also rent snorkel equipment for 100pesos per day. They can organise a morning tour to see whales, dolphins, turtles etc, which was amazing and highly recommended to do! An amazing place you will not find very often.
Report Check-In!!!Top!!! Der bislang beste Campingplatz in Mexico!!! Die Betreiber Anneke und Frans sind klasse!! Der Platz ist ein Juwel! Super toller Strand! Wollten eigentlich nur zwei Tage bleiben. Daraus sind 10 Tage geworden. Wirklich zu empfehlen!!!!
Report Check-InTent camping is $150 per person (not per tent). I'd imagine it is a better price for long term campers.
Report Check-InVery nice and clean, well managed by a plesent Dutch Couple. Nothing for big rigs or slide outs. Outstanding facilities, beach and water are simply wonderful. They can organize fishing, snorkeling and wale watching tour by their own boot. Kids and dog friendly also nice for bikers, backpackers and tent travelers.
We felt simply at home
We stayed for 5 day´s, this is the best ever campsite i have visit during my 5 months trip. All is clean, no music allowed. Meetingpoint for Overlanders
we have receieved some many tips from other Overlanders.
Regret that we have to go.
But visa runs out, so bye bye Don Taco we will return next year
One week stay. No issues, just a few dogs barking, but not constantly. Actually, very quiet and serene. No loud music or light pollution, so evenings are nice for star gazing and hearing the waves.
Report Check-InWe had the best time at Don Taco!! Thanks to the owners Frans & Anneke, other overlanders and Mexican travelers. Beautiful, clean, shady, right at the beach and super cozy to meet other people. We spend Christmas evening here, (eating the fish that our friend catches that day on the fishingtrip)with a lot of other guests at a big table. We will never forget this! It was amazing!! So yes, great great place!!
Report Check-InWe stayed there with our 2 children and will never forget this place. Perfect to stay for a few days, it has everything you need and more. don't miss the boat snorkeling tour with the best captain ever!
Report Check-InLovely beach, clean bathroom, good WiFi, nice kitchen and common areas.
We had a great time at Don Taco.
DO NOT GO HERE! had an absolutely awful experience with the racist owner.
arrived while the owner was away, and the very friendly helper got us set up. nice place, ok kitchen, ok bathroom. our friends who got there before us mentioned that they met the owner before he left and that he was using the n-word profusely.
I first met the owner on Tuesday, as I was getting a small piece of ice out of the freezer. he introduced himself and very forcefully told me the freezer was private (I had not heard this) and that I had to get my ice out of there. of course I apologized and removed mu small piece of I've. the owner then went on to inform other guests of the rules, which include NO MuSIC of any kind.
before the owner, Frans, returned on Tuesday I had asked the helper about sport fishing. he met up with his contact and brought him over that nice for us to meet him. very nice guy (alejandro), good rates, one of the heads of the fishing consortium here. at the end of our conversation with Alejandro the guide, the owner came over, got right in my face, and began yelling at me that I cannot use other guides, that he runs sportfishing out of there, etc. etc. I calmly informed him that I had no idea of that rule, and that I had asked his employee to arrange sportfishing, and that I wasn't about to spend any time on a boat with someone that was yelling at me. Frans the owner continued to verbally berate me and my girlfriend, and then proceeded to kick me out of his space come morning. I of course left that night.
after spending more time in town with locals, all have had issues with Frans in some way or another. he also is illegally using his rented property for commercials means (this is not allowed per his lease), and is also not licensed to use his fishing boat for commercial means.
Report Check-InThis is a really great slice of paradise, and a great spot for stopping, slowing down and enjoying the Oaxaca coast. There is space for a few vans to park and then there is a massive palapa which is great for spending time under during the hot afternoons. It’s got hammocks, outdoor tables and space for tent camping. There’s a communal outdoor kitchen, the bathrooms and showers are cleaned daily, and there is really great snorkelling just off shore. We saw a big ray! They also have kayaks available to use, and Frans does boat tours out to the other bays.
The owners are really great. We flew home for a few weeks and they let us park our van here while we were gone. They also looked after our dog which we are extremely thankful for! He loved living here for a few weeks ☺️
Make sure you stock up on provisions before coming here. Its very hard to leave 😉
Report Check-InThis is the perfect Overlander place to relax and catch-up with other travelers. Frans & Anneke are super friendly and helpful, they fully understand the needs of travelers 👌
We have a big Overlander truck and no issue at all to get in and park at a convenient spot, we planned only a couple of days but liked the place so much and stayed almost a week. Everything works and is cleaned every day, the perfect beach on your doorstep and the neighbor “El Tronco” serves delicious seafood and Pina Coladas !!
Their internet works great (Starlink) and allowed us to stream everything.
The only minus . . . it’s hard to leave !!
This place is good. Like the previous comment said there’s not much privacy but the beach is so beautiful that it makes up for it. You can easily swim & there’s great snorkeling around. There was a lot of tents on Saturday (around 30 people) so the small communal kitchen was extremely busy (10 people trying to cook even though there’s only 4 burners). There’s two showers & two bathrooms that are REALLY clean.
The price was 150pp
A fantastic place to rest for a few days, a great beach, beautiful straw huts, a small comfortable campsite with water, electricity and sewage. In addition, showers, WCs and an equipped kitchen are available, all very clean. Very friendly owners ready to help us at the slightest request. Our 24 foot camper was able to fit in with no problem. The owner even told us that a school bus had moved in! Price 325 Pesos per night
Report Check-Indefinitly not for big rigs, no turn possibilitys, Vans are fine if they dont want privacy, not more than some parking lots in tiny places
Report Check-InI just dislike beaches overall and I am only here because I was really tired on the road but I must say that this place is very well maintained and very very comfy.
7 USD for camping
every person describing quality showers, toilets and starlink Internet are right, this is top notch.
grumpy owner at first glance but good person really.
Only downside I found was being eaten alive by moskitos at sunset, through clothes and everything, entire body covered. only during sunset though
Report Check-InLovely place in perfect condition directly at the beach. Flush toilets and showers get cleaned every day. great community area under a massive palapa. Ourdoor kitchen with stove and sink. Not for big rigs and only room for 5 vehicles. They will be in the sun (except for 1 spot) but the rest of the campground is in the shade. beach chairs and hammocks and only a few steps for a dip in the ocean. Very helpful owners - we loved our stay and the whole place felt like paradise. Situated in a sweet little village where you can buy fruit & veggies, drinks and fish. For proper grocery shopping stop at Chedraui in either San Pedro Pochutla or Salina Cruz, depending on where you coming from. Dirt road from San Pedro Pochutla is in good condition. Thank you, Frans & Anneke!
Report Check-Inbikerfriendly owners, good atmosphere, good prices, very very clean, all you need! we loved it so we stayed longer than expected! you can do fishing or snorkeling trips, or just go on your own, the bay is very nice here ! we recommend this place to relax and have a good time!
Report Check-InBikerfriendly owners, good atmosphere, very very clean, right on the beach, good price. we loved it, so we stayed longer than expected! you can do fishing or snorkeling trips, or just do on your own, the sea is awesome here!
Danke für den schönen Aufenthalt!
Great location and facilities. Camped right on the sand with a bunch of other overlanding bikers with the ocean only a few meters away. Great showers and toilets with actual toilet seats (something I found missing at a lot of the places I stayed in Mexico). There is WiFi and a room for charging your devices (and storing stuff like boots and helmets). Full kitchen set up, but I didn't use it. The place is locked up at night, so your vehicle is definitely secure. Not sure how many rigs it could fit, but four motorcycles was not a problem at all.
Owners are friendly, multi-lingual (including English), and very accommodating.
Report Check-InWe had a great time here – it was like paradise. Wonderful beach with clear water, snorkeling spots in front, hammocks to chill, good wifi, clean showers and toilets and kitchen free to use. You can also book snorkeling or fishing tours.

Report Check-InFrans, Anneke and Don Taco ( the cute little dog) are great hosts. They are very friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome. The place fits for 5-6 vans, no big rigs! There is also place for many tents under the hugh palapa, and he has also rooms to rent. There are clean showers and bathrooms, a well equipped outdoor kitchen and really fast wifi. You can get water and electricity, no dump.
It is located directly at a wonderful beach with an amazing view. We can definitely recommend this place, if you go there you will probably stay longer than you planned.
Don Taco is a great place to be.
We stay 5 days. Very Nice wifi.
Wonderfull Beach for snorkeling.
13 km of unpaved road with corrugated iron to arrive at a place where the campers are tight against each other, your window overlooks the interior of the neighbor!!! No shade, shared kitchen and toilets right next door, so the 1st morning wakes everyone up and the icing on the cake, 335 pesos for one night, 2 people!!!
Absolutely not worth it!!!
One of the most satisfied camping experience close to the sea we ever live in Mexico. The owners are truly really kind persons with a lovely dog "Don Taco". Thx you for this wonderful 2 weeks. Fore sure we will come back.
Report Check-InThis is the place to be. Close to the beach, perfect facilities, very friendly and helpful hosts. Anneke and Frans, thank you very much for your hospitality.
Report Check-InWe spent 3 nights at Don Tacos and we really love that place ! The owners are nice and are looking at keeping their place quite, safe and clean. The commun space for cooking and eating is very clean and is a good opportunity to speak with other travelers (RV, bike, motorcycle, pedestrian ...).
We had the chance to see a turtle on the beach just 1 meter away from Don Tacos !
If you are lucky to get one of the 3-4 places for RV, you will enjoy it for sure ! Nice places in the shadow for tents also.
For us, it was like paradise !!!
I had a great time here. When I arrived my van had just showed a red light on my dashboard. But thanks to the help of Frans a mevanic came to the campsite and fixed it.
I could spent the rest of my day snorkeling in the wonderful bay.
In the evening baby turtles were running to the sea! Amazing to experience!
But what I liked most was hanging out with the other Overlanders on the campsite. So nice to share plans and experiences.
After staying the night we cannot recommend this place if you have an RV. We were told $350 ($250 for us two and $100 for our 8 month old…) per night. Then, after we started using the electricity we were then told it was $50 more per night, but not good enough for aircon. There is 0 shade. Our baby couldn’t sleep as it was a tin can in 30 degree heat. Our elderly dog got so hot he ate sand & had to go to the vet with sand impaction. On the way out we wanted water (and had to fight him for it). Went up the road to the RV park to ask to use their dump. No issues at all. Super friendly, lovely people. Paid $100 to use. They had shade, electric, swimming pool, hot water showers…and all for less than Don Tacos. So upset we didn’t stay there as it would have been a different experience altogether.
I think Don taco seems to have lost his way. Got really tight with supplies (also, 18 tents packed in to the brim). Seems to be just about being stingy and making money?
Maybe campers say differently.
Report Check-InThere are a ton of reviews on this place so we were super eager to check it out. I don’t think the reviews live up the hype.
Firstly, we were told that, in fact, there is no dump as they have a minimum 3 day rule (we are staying for 2) and they’re booked so we can’t stay longer even if we wanted. Offered to pay more, still no…so, no dump. Great.
No water unless you drive round. So none at sites.
Yes, electricity, but no powerful enough to run aircon. We have a 8 month old baby who naps during the day. We cannot go to coasts places that are this hot without hook up for aircon (hence us coming here). So we have to leave tomorrow before he cooks in a tin can under the sun with no shade 👍
Good points. Excellent location, clean toilets and showers.
Report Check-InWe stayed for 3 nights. Beautiful beach and bay. Fraans and his wife are very helpful and nice, but he comes across as someone who is grumpy a bit and loves rules. He doesn’t even let you finish your question. He interrupts rudely when he assumes what you want to ask.
There are a LOT of rules here. You feel like you’re staying in someone’s backyard as a favour, rather than a camp you paid for. You are always watched.
It can get crowded too.
Very clean toilets and showers, running water, open kitchen, but the no smoking sign (under a roof) is not enforced. The one rule that makes a lot of sense is ignored.
No clear pricing and you cannot fill up with water. Electricity hook up is extra 50 pesos per night.
loved our stay here! planed to stay two nights, but ended up staying a week. because of the vibe, the good people we met there and frans, anneke&taco who made our visit really nice. you are right at the beach and a little further away from the busy part of the village. so you have the beach part almost to yourself. you can enjoy a beautiful sunset in the morning while having coffee. lots of shade due to big palapas on the proberty and two umbrellas in front of it, at the beach. facilities very clean (get cleaned every day) and European standard (toilets with seats and plenty of paper ;)) outdoor kitchen with many plates, cups and pans. even if it got crowed we were able to cook without problems. shared sitting area where you can talk to people and make friends. bookshelf where you can get new reading material/exchange old ones. very quite and save at night. also place to charge your phone/laptop. you can rent:
different boat trips (we did fishing and snorkling which we shared with other travelers and loved it), bodyboards, snorkling gear (check out the reef!), umbrellas for the sun, tuktuk, tents and sleeping bag. beer and water for cheap. (20$)
it was a little crowed when we came, because of all the new years travel/visiters from Mexico City, but drizzeled out after the third day. but even when it was full we felt that we had enough privacy. the cozy space gives you the opportunity to meet new people and possible friends for life if you are open for it. (many sit in with overlanders and owners at night with beer). if you like more privacy and space this might be not the place for you. (not really space for big rigs)
with 250$/night (no hook up)for our camper van a good deal (since you get water, gas and etc. for cooking for free). also good place for dogs. during our visit there were at least five dogs. all but one little one very quite and got along with each other. just clean after them! be respectful with water usage and aware of others and you will a have a wonderful stay!

Report Check-InGreat relaxing campsite right on the beach for low maintenance people. Owners are super friendly and helpful. Note during busy periods like Christmas there are restrictions on water and power usage. We tented and had a great time time went for 2 days stayed for 4.
Report Check-InWe stayed here 3 nights and had a very nice experience. Normally we almost exclusively do wild camping, but having been very hot around Mazunte we were craving for a shower, the possibility to cook outdoors and just a generally nice place to relax. And found it! Don Taco is right at the beach, so you can take your chairs onto the beach. All facilities are super clean (cleaned twice a day I believe). Owners are nice and the campsite is calm, even when full. There’s I believe 4 basic spots for campers and 1 spot under the palapa (see pricing below). San Agustin is a safe and tranquil very small town (bring some groceries!). The water is good for swimming and you can also do some snorkeling. Mosquitos were okay when we were there, but that might be different in another season. There’s a nice breeze usually and it cools down much more in the evening than in closeby Mazunte, which is nice for sleeping. You have to take a sand road down to get there (about 20 min), but it’s okay in any kind of vehicle in the dry season at least.
Pricing: right now it’s 250p per night for a van, incl WiFi and use of facilities (kitchen (no fridge), flush toilets, cold shower), excl electricity. If you want to hook up, it’s another 50. These spots don’t have (much) shade, but we found it fine as you live outside in the communal areas. There is one spot under the palapa, which is 350 (incl hookup).
As of March 2023 prices will increase to 300p for the basic spots.
Recommended!
Excelent spot right in front of an amazing beach! Nice common areas with tables and hammocks, basic clean kitchen, very good toilets and showers, amazing wifi and very good vibes :) They dont have fridge but can lend you a cooler with new ice every day.
Report Check-InReally nice and very clean Campground. The hosts Frans und Anneke are really sweet and helpful.
If you want you get lots of informations about Mexiko and traveling there.
One of the best Campground‘s we visited so far. We stayed 4 Nights and enjoyed this place.
We spent 4 nights here, we had come for 2 but it's really a peaceful place, beautiful beach, very pleasant to walk there and most importantly to go swimming and see hundreds of fish, wonderful!! A great snorkelling, the best moment!
The RV Park is small, just 5 or 6 places to park, it's very quiet, cold showers and clean toilets, outdoor kitchen available, hammock, feet in the sand, good wifi.
250 pesos/ night.
We did the boat trip to see dolphins and turtles but the marine fauna was not too present, we were lucky enough to see 3 swimming turtles, 1800 pesos for the boat rental, no matter the number of people, we were 6 with other travelers from the RV Park so only 300 pesos each + tip for the guide. We will remember this stay here it was really good, nice meeting too, we recommend!
Our second time here and again we stayed a few nights longer than planned. You might bring some more food with you - just in case :-) (the little markets in the village have a very limited Sortiment only). The ocean is very calm in this bay, which makes it a perfect place for swimming and snorkelling. You can watch turtles hatching their eggs at night, even right in front of the camp.
Report Check-InAmazing Place! $100 pesos to camp. $20 pesos for beer. Very clean bathrooms & showers. Lots of shade and right on the beach. Nesting Turtles last night at 4:30am! Super friendly owners.
Report Check-InNice to back at this amazing place.
Very good place to take a break for a few days or longer, and to meet people (if you want).
This time we stayed just 2 nights.
The hosts; this amazing couple Anneke and Frans ( and there dog Don Taco) are very hospitable, they will help you with anything if they can.
What do they offer:
- They now have really fast internet.
- as always Clean toilets (with tp)
- good showers. (There is one outside as well)
- a nicely made Communal kitchen with pots and pans.
- Big pallapa's , with hammocks !
- it is directly on the beach
- good and safe swimming in front.
- snorkling around the island or a little to the right in front of all the restaurants (watch the boats or take a snorkle balloon🎈 Don't know that proper word)
What can you rent or buy:
- they do different tours: snorkling, Fishing and watch sea life.
- you can rent a tuktuk to go to different beaches (or just walk)
- They rent out small (and bigger tents + matras and sleeping bag , and snorkling gear.
For vehicles/big rig campers:
- are you traveling by car or really big rig they have a parking lot across the road right now.
Food/Drinks:
- Anneke and Frans sell cold beer for a good price.
- you can also buy carafons if you want drinking water.
If they have fish in the freezer you can buy that to.
There are some shops in the village but do big shopping in a big town before you come and take cash!
-there are many restaurants but it is not cheap and the quality varies every day. we prefe to go tor Capi that's always good (or the taco restaurant at the start of the village.
We enjoyed it a lot to be back.
Talked, had 'some 'cold beers, did some snorkling, beachwalks and saw a beautiful sunrise (sunset is better at a different beach you can walk there)
Ps you can pay with credit card you do have to pay the charge wich the credit card charges the owners.
Pps the road it getting better (we never found the road terrible but for people who prefer ) asfalt the road is being fixed right now
Report Check-InEverything is as already described. There is nothing to add. Wonderful place with great hosts who make you feel welcome. We wanted to stay 2 nights and ended up there for a whole week.
You can sometimes find places where you get stuck - Don Taco is definitely one of these places!
A very nice place to relax and enjoy the area. We actually only wanted to stay for 2 days. Then we stayed for 7 days. We did a nice boat trip directly at Don Taco. We can heartily recommend this place. Very clean and there is even beer for 20 pesos.
Report Check-InStayed a few nights. Nice hosts, beautiful cove/beach but you are many miles away from a store selling any meats. Come prepared or expect to be eating out all of the time (lots of restaurants and one small store). Host’s electric is solar so the price for electricity is pretty high (and limited). Starlink Internet speeds. Side note: Introverts may feel compelled to socialize. The hosts are right next to you and they have build the site to be “social” meeting place.
Hello, we spent a wonderful week at Don Taco. The campsite is located directly on the beach with a magnificent view. The large palapa gives you a perfect place to relax with its hammock and beach chairs. The sanitary facilities are very clean and functional. The small outdoor kitchen is well equipped for cooking your meals. In addition, the WIFI is very stable and efficient. Thanks to Frans and Anneke and Don Taco (small dog) for the welcome and hospitality.
Report Check-InWe planed to stay 1 night but stayed 4.. it’s such a beautiful campground just on the beach. The owners are very friendly, the place is very clean, there is an outside kitchen, some books, snorkeling gears to rent (the snorkeling is just on the beach, it really is beautiful!), very good wifi.
We felt secured and welcome !
You can also dump. The night is 250 per night.
We really recommend to stay few days here to reload the battery ;)

Had a very relaxed stay here. Right at the beach. Lots of shade under the big palapas. Kitchen facilities and clean bathrooms. Very nice owners Frans and Anneke who can and would help you with all kind of things if needed.
Road bit bumpy but we did good with our 2WD van and not so high clearance
Highly recommend
Amazing place on a beautiful beach. Needed a rest day and this place ticked all the boxes. Wonderful hosts who make you feel welcome. Place is gated and secure. Beach access from the camp. The small town has all the basic necessities including restaurants and stores.
Report Check-Ingreat camping. very clean toilets en showers!!
supposed to stay one night. We stayed 4 nights. The way from the 200 until the camping is a dirt road. The hurricane has passed this place, so here is no damage.
We loved our stay here! Haven't stayed at a campsite for more than a few days, but we spent a week here. Like others have said, the site is perfectly clean and it's great that you can go snorkeling straight from the beach. Frans and Anneke now have a Starlink internet connection, so this place is perfect for digital nomads.
Report Check-InWe came to stay 2 nights and ended up staying 6 nights. The owners are great. Great and fast wi-fi. Super clean campsite. They have a lady that came daily to clean. Outdoor kitchen is great with sink, 2 burner gas stove top, plates and silverware and some pans you can use. Came a week after hurricane Agatha. This large cove survived the hurricane. Put on your list to come and stay.
Report Check-InSTARLINK SATELITE INTERNET 125 Mbps.
This special for our Digital Nomads.
This place makes it into our top 5 campsites in Mexico. Toilets and showers are a dream! Owners were kind enough to take our washing and do it for us. They have a great hammock setup!
Report Check-InI thought spending 2 days, ended up staying 8. This is a paradise: in front of the beach, watching fishermen in the morning, snorkelling on the reef in front and hiding under a palapa with a cool drink when the sun is too hot. Hungry? The restaurant on the beach is next doors. Thank you France and Anika, the owners.
Report Check-InAs described 250 pesos for our 21 foot van. This is a small slice of the Netherlands, clean orderly and with strong WiFi and the best toilets: sparklingly clean with seats toilet paper and a spare roll! The owners live under the main palapa but leave you entirely alone. The swimming in front of the campground is superb. An oasis.
The eight mile access road from the highway is a washboarded mess and even aired down (!) we took it very slow. In rainy season I’d be worried. In dry season tour buses visit the fishing village so it’s not at all difficult, just uncomfortable. April 2022.
We had a very nice stay at Don Taco, it is supercalm, clean and with all the necessary facilities. The owners are a very nice couple who provided us tremendous help when all our money and credit cards were lost on the beach. The big advantage is the fast wifi, which allowed me to keep on with my work and hold online classes. Highly recommended.
Report Check-InWe hardly ever stay at RV Parks or private campgrounds (preferring to be secluded & out in nature), but Don Taco is SUCH a gem that we spent 4 nights here & easily could have stayed more! Only room for about 4 vans/RVs & maybe 8 tents, so it’s quite small, very laidback, never noisy. 250p/night for 2 people in a van.
Strong wifi, clean showers, small outdoor kitchen, tables for working, palapas for hanging out on the beach. Access right onto the sand a few steps from your door, beautiful clear/calm water for swimming, excellent snorkelling— the best spot is about 3min down the beach in front of the restaurants, but even straight out front is good! Saw heaps of stingrays, spotted rays, eagle rays, sea turtles, millions of colourful fish. Don’t miss this spot!!!
Report Check-InVery nice beach ideal for snorkeling. The place is very well maintained. The place as well as the place is absolutely quiet, no music. The owners are very nice Dutch and speak English, Dutch, German and Spanish.
We were here for 7 nights.
Great place with Fast Wifi, clean washrooms and showers, communal kitchen and palapa.
the only issue is getting there, it's a minimum of 25 min slow drive on a gravel road and once you get there spots are tight ( maybe room for 5 overlanders max ) and I think 21' would be the largest that would fit.
they have a separate parking lot for those tenting which increases the chances of getting a spot for those sleeping in car.
price was $250 per night
Perfect campsite right on the water. The showers and toilets are very clean. The bay is great for snorkeling. The owner also offers great boat tours. We saw dolphins and turtles and then went to another bay for snorkeling, which can only be reached by boat. We felt very comfortable with Anneke and Franz. They are very helpful with everyone.
Thank you
Very good place to take a break for a few days or longer, and to meet people (if you want).
Wanted to stay a day or two, turned out to be a week, we got into the relax mode.
- Clean toilets & showers.
- Fast WiFi.
- Communal kitchen, no fridge.
- Big pallapa, so enough shade 😀
- Direct on the beach, good snorkling.
- Snorkling tours.
- They rent out small tents and snorkling gear.
- For vehicles/campers,
Elektricity available
For dumping black and gray water you must move your vehicle there.
- Vehicles will be very close to eachother when it's full.
So far the most important data. We knew with our truckcamper (20 ft) we would be close to the next one.
The Dutch hosts & owners are very hospitable, they will help you with anything if they can.
We enjoyed every day at this place with snorklingsessions, beachwalks and beautiful sunsets.
I say, recommended!
Report Check-InIf you appreciate spotless bathrooms, sea right in front of you with great snorkeling, you don't mind to be with other Overlanders in a small campground but have great hosts who proudly take care about the place..GO to Don Taco!
All the negative critics on i Overlander on this campsite are unfair and not true. Go see for yourself and I am sure you will enjoy and stay at least 7 nights, like we did.
Report Check-In
we arrived here after a bumpy road. Although it looked full Frans managed to shove us in between. So happy that the others made room for us eventhough it meant everybody was very close to eachother. As we are divers we are happy to see great sealife in front of the camping
Report Check-InDo not go.
A super place to meet other travelers and relax by the sea. The hosts are very friendly and the campsite is very clean. Good wifi!
But write in advance if there is space, because there are limited pitches.
Highly recommend!!
Report Check-InWe stopped here for 7 nights. Beautiful place and the hosts Franz and Ann are wonderful people. Very accommodating and helpful. If we come back this way we will be sure to stop in. Chris and Cheryl
Report Check-InAs described earlier. Contrary to one negative comment, we found that Frans and Anika were super hosts! Very careful and responsive. As clients we have to thing that making a reservation in prime time and cancelling it would mean a net loss for the host. Just a matter of respect!!!
We stayed 3 nights (2 vans / 4 persons). Water is incredibly clear and almost no waves or small ones. Nice snorkelling at the small reef 300 m south. Sand is quite coarse and little abrasive so long walks can be painful if you do not pay attention. Highly recommended!!!
Had a Great stay here! The owners Frans & Anneke are really nice. Clean shower and toilets, fast Wifi ( perfect for people working on the road!) and they have some cold beers in the fridge! Located right by the beach you can watch the sunrise from your van/tent/hammock. Planned to stay for 1 night but stayed 3, definitely recommand!
Report Check-InWhen we got here, we were looking for someplace to rest for a little. The descriptions we'd read were exact: very clean toilets, shower, kitchen area, along with gathering areas. The camp is on a lovely beach with safe swimming in the bay.
But most impressive is the warm, welcome home greeting of the owners, Frank and Annika. Each person is given personal and assistance, nothing too much to ask. The end of our happy story, is that we stayed 5 weeks. Thank you both, Denis and Frances
Stayed here for three nights. Longer dirt road from the main highway to get to Bahia San Agustin, heavily washboarded in some areas but no issue in our camper van.
Don Tacos is a small but beautiful place right at the beach towards the end of the road after passing many restaurants. The owners, a retired Dutch couple, purchased this place 5 years ago and opened it to overlanders. About 6 spots for smaller RVs and camper vans and many tent spots under a beautiful large palapa. We paid 350pesos for 2 adults and a kid which we think is fair. Decent WiFi, clean shower and toilets. Great communal seating under another palapa so you easily get to meet people. Owner organizes boat trips to the nearby National Park where you can snorkel around beautiful reefs. 1800pesos for the boat for a 3 hour trip, we got several people together so it was a great deal.
Liked our relaxing stay here, was exactly what we needed after Mazunte...
We wanted to dissolve our reservation earlier because friends had arrived earlier than expected and we wanted to celebrate christmas with them in puerto escondido. The owner couple freaked out completely, yelled at us and threatened us. They made pictures of us and our car and wanted to put these on facebook such that we would not find another campside in mexico. There was no option to leave earlier. If we wanted to go we had to pay the full days of the reservation. So be carefull with making a reservation at this place. Other than this incident, the surveillance of the owner couple is super annoying, there is no privacy (place to small) and everything costs extra (kids 50p, electricity 50p). We did not felt comfortable at any time and can not recommend this place.
Report Check-InGreat stay!! Very good WiFi and clean. We met very cool overlanders, saw beautiful sunrises, did a tour and saw lots of dolphins.
Report Check-InAgain we spend some weeks on Don Tacos campground and again it was a wonderful experience. Everything is already said about this place but I want do say it again : we had a very nice time and Frans en Anneke do there very best to please the people who stay there
Report Check-InIt's all what you need. You can park in front of the palapas. From ther you will have your feets in the sand. You also can pitch a tent in the sand. All clean and nice. Friendly oweners with helpful tips. The water is here in this bay safe, clean and warm and you will enjoy swimming. We can really recommend this place.
Report Check-Inbeautiful, small and personal overlander-beachcamp with very clean shower and toilets (with seats and toiletpaper) and direct access to a beautiful beach and the ocean, perfect for swimming, right from the backdoor of your camper. 250 pesos per night for a camper with 2 persons.
Report Check-InIt’s a wonderful place created by a retired Dutch couple who came to San Agustin Bay four years ago. They are undoubtedly overly hospitable human beings. If you go to this place, ask the owner why his camp is called "Don Taco"? You will love the story.
They have an exclusive space in front of the beach to camp or park RVs with a cost of $ 200 per night.
They have shower service and clean toilets, space to load electronic equipment, a small kitchen in case you take food to prepare your own food. There are several restaurants along the beach that offer typical food from the region.
You can’t miss the Coral Reef Tour, which lasts three hours and the beautiful sunrises that you can observe from the beach.
Report Check-InIn one word perfect! We stayed 7 nights. As mentioned before, Frans and Anneke are very friendly and helpful with everything on and around the small village. Very good organized small campground direct at the beach. Good for swimming and you get the possibility for boat trips including snorkeling at very remote beaches. A must place to to visit on the Mexican Pacific coast!
Report Check-InReally nice Overlander Camp. Very clean toilets and shower. The all new Palapa looks wonderful. Boat trip with Don Taco was great! 3 hours trip 1500 pesos for boat, possible to share with others.
New Wi-Fi wasn't working properly, but they are improving it in the next few days. Lots of restaurants nearby!!
It's very difficult to leave from Don Taco. For us, it's on the TOP5 places in Mexico (we've been traveling the country for 18 months!). Very nice and clean beach suitable for kids, quiet little town and nice weather. The campground is small but cozy. Very clean toilets and shower. Open kitchen and good internet connection. Shared space with shade. We really liked it there!
Report Check-InVery friendly and helpful dutch owners! Everything as described, clean and nice!
Report Check-InWe have changed our internet provider. Now we have SUPER fast internet without interruptions.
Unfortunately we have increased our prices. For RV we charging 250 peso’s for max 2 persons. For tenting 200 peso for max 2 persons. This includes free super fast WiFi. Super clean toilets with seat. Super clean shower. Chairs and tables under Palappa. Usage off outdoor kitchen. Palappas on the beach.
We spent two weeks at Don Taco and absolutely loved it.
Everything is super clean and well taken care of.
Frans and his wife were away during our stay, but the Swiss couple taking care of the place in their absence was amazing!
Sant Augustin is a nice place, and people is super friendly.
Don’t miss out a tour with Alex on Don Taco’s boat!
Location is on a lovely beach where you can swim and snorkel, lots of restaurants and small 'tiendas'. Hard to drive there in the rainy season, 13km of washed out dirt road, more or less fixed after every rain.
Showers and toilets are very clean but basic (no hot water, small). No shadow for the RV's, no electricity for the RV's, only, possible to plug your electronic devices(no water heater allowed). Electric cooking plates outside.
Big palapas with hammocks (unfortunately tons of moskitos even on the beach) Franz his wife charged us 200 pesos the night, for one week is one night free (they said in August it will be 250 pesos). We needed to wash some clothes and they charged us 75 pesos 😲. She washed it in her own washing mashine. They gave us good information and recommendations for our further travel. Thank you
The place is really nice, good showers and good clean bathrooms. The beach is heaven and you have nice play with lots of shade. The owners were not very nice with us tough... we didn’t felt really welcomed and he was rude some times... Internet was off for almost a hole day and the “electricity” (if you can call it that) was not even enough for the fridge, but they charged it at the end of our stay, even though we didn’t know... it was 50 pesos per day only for electricity that was not really worth it. Other than that, the place is super nice. You can also visit Riscalillo beach a few minutes drive from here and it’s amazing. Not a problem going on your camper.
Report Check-InEverything was like in description.
But..
Road is bad.
lack of privacy. You can't relax, always under supervision.
Sand,sand,sand...
No shadow for your RV.
Can't run AC.
GREAT! Frans & Ann built a great haven for overlanders. Clean, organised, right on the beach, lots of shaded areas under the palapas to set up tents... not for long term “snowbirds” or big rigs but rather for the true overland traveller looking for a place to relax by the beach for a few days.
You get a lot for your buck, we paid $150 for the 2 of us tent camping with our motorcycles, the have a gear room for your stuff, place to charge devices, shaded area with tables, comfy hammocks, a small gas stove, very clean toilets and showers, direct access to the beach... they also offer boat tours for fishing and snorkelling, rent out snorkel gear. And do yourself a favour, go have lunch at El Capi next door, it will most likely be one of your best meals in Mexico!
This place also made it a point to remain open during Covid to allow a place to stay for the travellers that were still here.
Built a run by overlanders and it shows!
This is a great camping spot. It's right on the beach with palapas, hammocks, kitchen, electricity, clean cold showers (which feel good after being in the sun), clean flush toilets, tables to visit and eat at, wifi, and great host.
I really enjoyed listening to Don and Anna's stories. They've had a very interesting life and I'm glad they shared some of it with me.
I hit a tope and it put a hole in my Propane tank. I asked if there was a welder that could fix it and he new just the guy. I pulled out the tank and Don took me and the tank to the welder and the next day it was finished. Perfect.
I will definitely stay here again.
Absolutely wonderful! Don Tacos spot is a little slice of heaven. Its a smaller parking area so suggested 30 ft or less size RVs. Outdoor kitchen, nice toilets, cold showers, and lots of shaded areas to enjoy. WiFi on site but very intermittent, however I was able to work online as needed. Electricity voltage goes up and down, so not able to run A/C but could plug in to keep batteries topped off. The beach is what you're really here for and it's paradise. Gorgeous water, lots of restaurants to enjoy, if your there in the right season you might see turtle or whales. It is a tough road to get there, but worth it. We kept extending our stay. Come prepared with food there's no big grocery stores nearby and no ATMs in the area. If you want to see it in video we shared our time here in our Vlog https://youtu.be/D-hL8gYuKiY
Report Check-Inafter enjoying two weeks on this little piece of paradise with other overlanders. we had to leave to get our van checked out at an garage in Salina Cruz. unfortunately it turned out that there was more wrong with our van and that parts had to be ordered from Europe. Frans and Anneke immediately told us that we could wait with them until the parts had arrived. while our van was in the garage we stayed at there campside in there camper. the wait was long but there hospitality and warmth made it all better. we where really happy but also sad when the van was fixed and for Shure will be back in the future. so just come and check this place. and take a boat ride to go snorkeling meby you see whales, turtles and dolphins like we did .
Report Check-InAfter spending a night on the toilet, I can say it's the cleanest toilet we've come across. Ever.
Along with the highly recommended toilets there is good wifi, a place to park, friendly folk, place to wash your dishes, place to cook, hammocks, beautiful beach, and a very helpful couple with tips and solutions for just about anything you ask.
Franz surprised us with french fries for the kids so I would say it pet friendly. :)
Paid 350 for RTT, 2 adults and 2 small kids. On the expensive end for us, but worth it.
Report Check-InWhat a nice place. We are People who most of the time stay not longer that 2or 3 nights at the sake spot. We where forst to stay longer because we had car problemes. We where joking that this wonderful couple messed with our car so we had to stay longer as planned. But truthfully they did everything in their power to make us feel welcome and to help us with efrithing to fix our cartrouble. The place itself is great, right on the beach with a view over a beautiful island and whales showing off occasionally. Take the time to go snorkling you can take a boat trip with Frans boat to the national park next door. Cook your self or go to one of the restaurants. We prefer capi and the taco place. I would give don Taco 1001 stars if I could
Report Check-InThank you Anika and Franz for some wonderful days at your place.
We could camp right on the sand, next to the beach under a beautiful palapa where we enjoyed the shade while looking at the sea.
The sunrise is impressive.
Franz gave us valuable tips and the best advice on where to buy, where to eat, where to go for a walk/boat trip.
The place is perfectly clean and tidy. Anika and Franz are friendly and attentive hosts and help with everything you may need.
The place is really worth a stay - next time we will have to plan even for more days! So to sum up: We recommend Dopn Taco to all our friends.
The campsite is clean, has shared kitchen and bathrooms.
The free-wifi was working well and we could use it during our stay.
See you soon!
I actually wanted to stay for two or three nights, at the end I spent 8 days there! The place is AMAZING, you camp directly at the beach (which by the way is super clean and just wonderful, as well as the sea). The toilets and the shower are very clean, you can cook and also put your things in the bodega. The owners are very friendly and helpful, gave me kitchen utensils and were always there if I got a question.
In San Agustín are just a few cabañas to rent, there are no big hotels and hostels. You've got a lot of restaurants nearby and some tiendas.
Highly recommended place to stay for 200 pesos/night (van) or 150 pesos/night (tent).
We went for a couple of days and we stayed 2 months!
The campsite is right on the sand, it has beautiful palapas where you can enjoy the shade while looking at the sea.
Right in front you can snorkel.
See de best sunrises.
We saw a turtle spawn.
If you like swimming, the bay is very calm.
Franz gives you the best advice on where to buy, where to eat, where to go for a walk.
They have tours available if you want to go sailing in their beautiful boat. He sells fresh and clean fish, which he catches himself!
Anika keeps the whole place perfectly clean and tidy, friendly and attentive to everything you may need.
If you have a problem, whatever it is, they help you solve it since they are prepared for everything! For everything! They are travelers! They have traveled the world, they know what you need!
We felt welcomed, accompanied, loved, they made us laugh and the place is perfect.
It is not expensive, you pay just enough for this hidden treasure steps away from Huatulco and all its bays.
A quiet place but at the same time, close to everything.
We would return without thinking. We recommend it to all our friends.
They are Pet friendly and have a little dog named Taco! For him is the name of the campsite. We saw travelers arrive with their dogs and cats to enjoy this wonder.
The campsite is very clean! The shared kitchen and bathrooms spotless.
High speed wifi that you cannot find in the surroundings.
Their website is www.campingdontaco.com and the photos are not as good as being there.
A place that you must visit.
.
They are open for overlanders during the pandemic! And it's the most beautiful spot on the beach. Nothing else is open, so you'll have the place to yourself.
Amazing shower, and toilets with seats!
Good wifi
Franz and his wife are a super friendly Dutch couple, who speak perfect English
200 pesos a night
Wonderful place by the beach. Facilities are clean, wifi, and the large palapas are great to sit under during the heat of the day.
Frans, the owner, took me to the nearby clinic when I had a minor issue with my ear. He’ll do anything to make sure you’re having a great time. They also rent snorkels and boat trips, all at reasonable rates.
The coral reefs here are superb.
Stay here.
Report Check-InSmall campsite right at the beach. Ideal for kids because no big waves. The owners are so nice and helpfull. Very very clean toilets and showers. We loved this place!!!!!
Report Check-InWe had 4 great nights at Don Taco beach camp. The camp is really clean and you camp 20 meters from the sea with great snorkel opportunities. The owners are very friendly and we had a lot of fun with all the other overlanders.
Report Check-InWe planned to stay for 2 nights, ended up with 7. Very nice amenities for including hammocks, outdoor kitchen, tables and palapas. We also enjoyed swimming and snorkeling very much. A place to rest and relax. Nothing more to add on previous comments, just one thing: bring insect repellent.
Report Check-InSmall camp at the beach of the secluded Bahia San Agustin. You find many nice amenities here like clean toilets, showers, wifi, kitchen, palapas, but no hookup. It is space for 4-5 campers and some tents. In the bay you find nice corrals and some tropical fish. Unfortunately the whole beach is covered with restaurants, it is quite busy on weekends but really quiet at night. The 12 km dirtroad from Mex 200 is bumpy in places but ok with every kind of vehicle.
Report Check-InWe really enjoyed our stay here! Spent 8 relaxing days enjoying the beautiful beach and great facilities. The grounds are well maintained and the couple that owns the campsite are lovely. Our dog Salsa loves playing with their sweet dog Taco. Happy days...would definitely return!!
Report Check-InWe, @FloodExploration, stayed here for three nights. There is not much to add to the other comments but we just want to confirm them. Cleanest toilets and shower in MX, strong WiFi, great host, great beach. Our truck is 25ft (7.6m) and fit inside with no problem.
Report Check-InGreat place! secure, silent great views, great hosts, great week!
Report Check-InWe stayed with Frans and Anika in 2019 and again this year. It just keeps getting better. There have been lots of praise for the facility, its cleanliness and, of course, the world class beach, but Frans and Anika’s commitment to the place they live cannot be overstated. They respect the local residents and in turn have earned the communities friendship. Stay a while and you start to feel part of the community too. Plus, they are wonderful friends to everyone who visits and they have Don Taco, their dog, who is just as sweet as the owners! You’ll come for a day and most likely stay much longer!
Report Check-InEverything is said already about this wonderful place except it’s getting better and better. Forget about the 13 km dirt road only think about the reward you get once you reach Don Taco
Report Check-InVery nice place! Room for about 6 campers. Close together but for some reason it’s just perfect! There is a clean kitchen and a shower and 2 toilets. There are multiple palapas to sit under with communal table, where people tend to gather. The owners, Anneke and Frans, are very accommodating hosts who are helpful and personable. Direct beach access and many restaurants to choose from. We would go back and recommend it strongly.
Report Check-InEverything is as good as already mentioned. Thanks to Anneke and Frans for creating this special atmosphere and keep everything so perfect.
Report Check-InYou have to take a dirt road for 15 km.. But it is worth it! Beautiful beach. The water is clear and calm. Lots of shadow with hammocks and chairs, so the perfect place to relax. Quiet at night.
There is not much space for big rigs, so call ahead if they have availability.
Everything is already said about this wonderful place but it’s getting better and better. Don’t worry about the 13 km dirt road, you get a big reward once you reach Don Taco.
Report Check-InFantastic place where you feel at home away from home. Arriving initially for 1 or 2 days, we finally stayed 5 full days, enjoying the warm welcome of Frans and Anneke. The place is really clean, quiet, with plenty of well organized spaces to live you life, enjoy the playa, meet other travelers... Frans and Anneke are really kind and helpful to answer any question or need you may have. Even helped us with excellent recommandations and ride to the city in order to solve our tire problem. And we were lucky to meet so nice fellow travelers there at the same time. Warmly recommend this place!
Report Check-InThis campsite is located directly on the beach and run by a very nice Dutch couple. There are two extremely clean toilets and one (cold) shower which is also exceptionally clean. There is room for four to five small to medium rigs and for a couple of tents. The place is very well maintained and the owners are super friendly. They also took us on a fishing trip for black tuna and we saw whales, dolphins, flying mantas and a sea turtle. When we had problems with our truck, they were also very helpful to find the right person to fix it. Internet is quite good, too. We originally planned to stay just a couple of days and ended up extending through Christmas when it got very crowded. The owners organized a really nice Christmas dinner with all their guests, and everybody brought some small contribution to the buffet. Highly recommended and one of the best places we’ve stayed at so far!!
Report Check-InA really nice place for motorbikers with tent. You can put on the tent directly at the very clean beach. Have everything you need there. Perfect to relax for a few days.
Report Check-InIf you want to connect and be part of an open overlander community, boondocking with a unique view on the ocean ( with spectacular sunrise) relaxing on beautiful beach (fishing, snorkeling, kayak, SUP, no big waves), have the opportunity to use ultra clean shower ( only one) & toilets (2), electricity if you need to charge your techno stuffs, commun kitchen - than Don Taco is for you! If you have high expectations, like spacious space for your RV, full hookup, intimacy ( very small parking for RV), run your AC, wash your car ... than this camp is not for you! Otherwise you will really enjoy! Message to owners: you will gain by adding an extra shower and toilet, plus a bigger sink and a bigger BBQ. Hasta luego, Bernard r& Christine !
Report Check-InWow! What a gorgeous and clean campground. Frans and Anneke were always available and kept the place spotless. The bathrooms were wonderful, clean, and great water pressure( although when the place is full there is a cue for the shower, another one would be lovely! It was great having a communal kitchen that promoted community engagement with the other guests. The owners invest back into the place and are always looking at ways to improve. Their mascota, Don Taco, is a gem and gets along with other dogs. The surrounding area is beautiful and it’s easy to kayak, snorkel and SUP. I appreciated the small storage area they have for personal stuff like my fitness equipment and water toys!. Make sure to bring a 30/50amp converter for your campers- I spaced and after 2 weeks needed a recharge on my house battery. I NBC will definitely keep this place in mind for future rendezvous.
Can fit tall vehicles but nothing longer than a typical camper van!
We didn't believe it before, but we stayed there a whole weekend and there was no noise of any kind through the whole time. The bay is good for swimming and snorkeling. No high waves! And there isn't any garbage on the whole beach. Wonderfull!
But the whole village is suffering on fresh water and high voltage of electricity. It was only 90 to 100 V, which was not good enough for our van, but good enough for charging computers and mobile phones. The wifi is okay but not very fast.
We spent three nights and enjoyed it very much. One of the best beach points in Mexico!
Stayed here for almost 2 weeks. The hosts, Frans and Ama are wonderful people. They keep a clean and organize place here in front of the beach. The bathrooms are clean, the shower is cool which feels good do to the warm climate and the community kitchen is great. Wifi is provided as well. What more can you ask for??
Report Check-InTRULY a stand out amongst the many hostels/beach camps in Mexico. Frans and his wife are experienced, worldwide travelers with a big heart. Expect a tidy, clean, quiet campsite with ample space and be ready to connect with other worldwide overlanders passing through! Frans will take you fishing or recommend local mechanics/welders/resources in the area for overlanders as he’s well connected and loved by the locals . His welder was amazing that built my rear propane tAnk mount on my rig. Enjoy the dreamlike bathrooms, wifi, tables, fishing, electricity, on site water, and good vives! I love that its gated and the community feels safe and peaceful
Report Check-InFelt similar to the biker down below. 150pp if you are solo and felt it wasn’t quite worth it. Nice place with clean bathrooms and showers but I didn’t like being penned in as soon as it got dark around 7pm and having to ask for the gate to be unlocked so I could walk on the beach.
Report Check-InJust awesome - as described by others. I won’t repeat all the superlatives. The Dutch owners were away but by their caretaker’Mark’ treated the place like it was his own - kept it meticulously clean, he was extremely helpful, even shared a Tuna fish he bought and cooked with the guests !
Great sunrises, good food at El Capi nearby - one of the best beach campsites we have been to !
Report Check-Inbeautiful Campsite with palapas and hammocks and good snorkelling options in the riff to the right! we enjoyed our 3 nights stay very much!!
Report Check-InWe stayed at Don Taco for 5 nights, after 2 days the owners left to travel, and their caretaker, Mark took over. Mark was ready for the job, keeping the camping area, and restrooms, clean and orderly. Very, very happy with our experience at Don Taco. And Mr Don Taco himself, the sweet dog of the place.
Side note: a young guy named Alex comes by most days to offer massage. Very nice (and affordable) to have a massage on the beach. 👍
Quiet, beautiful, well put together and clean; Don Taco continues to be the best place to stay in Bahia San Agustín!
Report Check-InEverything positive that was said is true. Frans and Anneke thought of everything, even a hook in the shower and a place to put the soap! We were so lucky to meet them. They have an outside kitchen, chairs, table, hammock, palapa... and the beach is wonderful. The toilets are SOOOO clean! Amazing place and wonderful people. Take care both of you!
Report Check-InSuperb little spot on a very relaxing beach. Parking isn’t ample, but it’s flat and perfect for vans or tents. Owners are great. We payed 200 pesos/night for 2 people and they had beach chairs, snorkels, tables, charging station, stove, and good WiFi for us to use. Not to mention the immaculate toilets with SEATS! I’d recommend bringing your own food to cook, as most of the restaurants are only open 11-6ish and are quite pricy.
Report Check-InSuch a lovely spot! Right on the beach and probably the cleanest bathrooms in all of Mexico. Franz and his wife are lovely and SO interesting to talk to. 13km of unpaved road to get here but totally worth it, highly highly recommend.
Report Check-InAnneke and Franz are two very welcoming hosts. We spent 4 wonderful days here and snorkelled every day in this clear blue water, observing a coral reef with colourful fishes in all shapes and sizes. Just WOW.
Don’t miss this spot!
Night: 100MXP/ pP
Electrical hookup: 50MXP/ 24h
The best in Mexico so far. They are charging for camper 2 personages 200 peso a night. A real barging for this high quality and proper campsite.
Report Check-InA really excellent beach camp. A friendly, helpful welcome and great site. As former overlanders, they've thought of everything! Bathrooms are modern, cleaned often and always spotless. Set on a beautiful beach in a calm bay, we loved the camp and the location. 200 pesos per night for 2 people in a truck is a very reasonable price for such a location and facilities. Some great restaurants nearby but they are not open in the evening, so make sure you bring enough food/beer to last.
Report Check-InVery nice, kind and helpful owners. We needed to see a doctor and Franz just made our day!
Oh! Very nice spot by the way. Quiet and peaceful. Cherry on top: beach at 15m
nice spot for overlanders and travelers. price 150pp
the beach is awesome !
there's abarrotes and restaurants, all the area is pretty developed
Amazing!! Incredibly clean, best shower in Mexico! Tight for two camper trucks and two vans but plenty of palapa space to make your outdoor living area and relax. Stunning beach and fabulous swimming and snorkeling- worth the road in! Frans gives all his proceeds to the local school!!! Dog friendly!
Report Check-InVery nice place. Campground like Europe standard. Place for 4 to 5 overlander cars and some tents. WC like Europe, very clean. You can buy fish or bred from Franz the owner. Nice beach, very good for swimming.
Report Check-InWe had a lovely stay here! The hosts are very helpful and run a beautiful place right on the beach. We were supposed to stay one night, as we needed to pick someone up at the airport and didn’t want to drive the dirt road too many times... but France offered to give us a ride! So we got to enjoy San Agustín with our guest as well. The long dirt road is definitely worth it!
Report Check-InIs owned by 2 Dutch Overlanders. Top clean western toilets and showers. Fast WiFi. There is place for 3 trucks. Direct on beach. With big palappa’s to be out off the sun. With recreation room, open kitchen. Also tent camping. There are many restaurants close by
Report Check-InAnneke and Frans are very friendly and helpful. Showers, toilet, open kitchen are very clean.
The parking is small and with no shade but there are more than enough palapas with hammocks, tables and chairs so that you can be in the shade all day.
The ocean is 20 meters walk with clear water and corals at the end of the bay.
Another glowing review for Don Taco! Internet worked great. Plenty of sun for our solar panels and shade to hang out in. They provide a stove and sink for campers to use. Bathrooms sparkling clean! Beach was clean and the ocean was calm and crystal clear. Fantastic hospitality and a gem of a location.
Report Check-InThe earlier comment is wrong. Even a big MAN truck and a 34 feet Schoolbus have camped by Don Taco. 3 places for band and 2 places for Trucks
Report Check-InYesterday we've discovered this tranquil campsite while strolling down the beautiful bay of San Augustin.
Besides places for campervans, there's a nice spot to pitch your own tent or use one from the owners for a real reasonable amount (including airmatress)
The campsite provides a place for cooking and has clean and neat toilets and bathroom.
It takes approxamitely 10 steps to take a swim and the view at the pacific ocean from your tent is stunning!
Recommendation for backpackers: beautiful place, clean, cheap and WIFI. There's a hut to store your backpack as well.
Besides that we had a warm welcome by the two lovely Dutch owners!
Very nice campground very close to the beautiful beach. Very clean bath rooms. Shady Palapa for all guests with view to the Ocean. Frans and his wife are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our four nights visit and would stay longer.
Report Check-InSchöner, ruhiger Stellplatz. Etwas eng bei den Vans, jedoch sonst genügend Möglichkeiten am Schatten od. an der Sonne. Gut zum Schwimmen. Sehr freundliche Besitzer, Franz spricht Deutsch, Englisch u. Holländisch. Sehr saubere Toiletten!
Report Check-InNice little campground with room for a few small rigs no bigger than a pickup truck with camper or small European class C RV. If you rely on internet to work on the road, you might want to turn the unreliable/non-functionning internet into a plus and instead enjoy the beautiful little beach. Little seafood restaurants and basic supplies nearby. Good snorkeling, swimming, shore fishing. A+
Report Check-InBest campground we have gone in Mexico so far. Stayed for 4 days. The dutch owners are extremely friendly and helped with any request. Frans even helped us with a little repair in the RV. Facilities and Internet are superb. The dirt road is a challange but we made it down there with our standard 22“ RV. Frans also offers various boat trips. The beach is simpy stunning and just very few tourists. Warning: You might never want to leave!
Report Check-InGreat spot right on the beach. Loved the communal area to hang out and relax. The 13km from the mex200 to get here are doable in any vehicle, just go slow. Super dog friendly place!
Note: if coming from Oaxaca City, follow Mex175 until you see a sign for Santa Maria Huatulco. Unless you’re in for a one-lane-muddy-road-next-to-a-cliff adventure (which we did not want with our mini motorhome), don’t take any other gps-suggested shortcuts.
Report Check-Inexcuseme Franz (!) not Felix...
there is also nice and easy snorkelling at the rocks and the corals. Fine place to relax.
it is absolutely a place to recommend. Felix and Anneke manage this place with heart and know what we travellers love (like superclean everywhere, tables at the shadow, big palapas, beautyful sea and beach, calm... just go an have a look yourself
Report Check-InVery nice campground with beach access. The owners are super friendly and the facilities are very clean. We stayed here for 5 nights
Report Check-InLoved this place, we had a great week and were sad to leave. Frans and Anneke are the best hosts. The campground, toilets and shower are modern and clean. And it’s dogfriendly!
It’s right on a beautiful beach where you can swim and snorkel. The boat trips offered by Don Taco to snorkel and/or see dolphins are very recommended.
Nice place, got here with Rv. Michel
Report Check-InOne of the best camping sites in Mex, the place is gorgeous but what makes it more special are the owners, they really work haré to make it a great place, clean, friendly and relaxed. Worth a detour just for it.
Report Check-InAs described. Small and your are parked right next to one another no room for awnings but that’s not a big deal. $250 for power and no A/C. Using A/C will shut down power to the neighborhood. Internet not reliable and no cell service. No ATM and restaurants only accept cash.
None of this matters. Just helpful information for those choosing this beautiful location. Fran’s has a
Boat and will take u to see whales dolphins and fishing. Busy on weekends but otherwise. Very relaxing
As everyone else has said, probably the most relaxing time spent here in 2 years. The beach is safe, the water clear and warm. Came for 2 days stayed for 5!
Road off the 200 is about 13km of solid base for those on 2 wheels. There are small tendas for basics and main shopping is 30 minutes away. The community is great and various restaurants (Capi up the road was wonderful). 150 per night for tent camping.
Just a note on the one bad experience (compared to all the others) 150 to camp....Even in a hammock is great considering it costs 300 for them to fill the tanks fresh water; it's all the facilities that cost money. I'm wondering if he stayed at the right place as the common area is definitely there.

Overall a great stay
A place to be, a place to stay! We slept in a tent on the beach. For sun protection you can set up your tent under a palapa and now they have also self made wooden tent pegs to set up the tend on the beach! The view was amazing. You can walk along the beach, swim in the ocean or lie in a hammock. It is a safe area and additionally there is a gate and fence for safe parking. There is enough space for some bikes and some smaller RVs. Very clean flush toilets and a shower. The wlan is good. There are nice restaurants in walking distance. The owners are great, helpful and also english, dutch and german speaking. They love to welcome Overlanders!
Report Check-InGreat place!
Owners are super nice, beach is beautiful and perfect for a few days of total relaxation, a good meeting point with fellow overlanders. Toilets and showers are clean, wifi is good, plenty of shafe for your beach front hammock. Go there.
This place is a hidden gem, it's paradise. You're park by the beautiful beach where you can swim. The campground is very clean and the toilets and shower are awesome. There's also an outdoor kitchen, a very nice palapa with tables and chairs and the wifi works perfect. The owners are very helpful and they do everything to make you feel comfortable. This is the nicest campground we found in Mexico.
Report Check-InCommends are just right! Everything super clean, it’s like a pice if Europe in México. So if you need a break from Mexico go there. Just bring supplies- not much to buy here....
Report Check-InLoved this place, so quiet, beach and sea side good for children, good food all around, campground well established, clean, shade for small RV and tents. Our kids had a blast, we felt safe and welcomed by the owners. 100% recommended!!!!
Report Check-InGreat place ! We stayed 2 nights, the owner are really nice. Hammocks, palapas to get some shade, washing area and clean showers/toilets. And right in front of the ocean
Report Check-Indisappointing experience.
I arrived in the afternoon on motorcycle. was greated by a caretaker. quoted 150 for using my own hammock. settled on less though it wasn't clear as no one spoke English. he then handed me a sheet of paper with details on the place. no WiFi. he could get the password right and made out that is was a problem with my phone. the shelter for the hammocks leaks so you get wet during the night. the whole place feels like a compound. you can to find him to open the gate to leave. I'm really not sure what the money is for. never saw the common room. no kitchen. just sand surrounded by a fence.
I left at 8.30 in the morning .. no one was there. couldn't get out the main gate cause it was padlocked . jade to squeeze the bike through the personal gate just to leave.
im guess the experience would have been better if the people that run the place were there. but if they aren't going to have competent people looking after the place they should just close it while they are away. I wish I stayed somewhere else as the beach and surroundings are very nice.
but for 30 pesos more than these prices you can stay in a hostel that has proper roof, a bed, secure parking , and breakfast. I'd check who is here before you stay.
It's a beautiful place. Franz and Alex very helpfull and look for everythink. On the beach you can swim and snorceling. The rate is 200 Mex$ for 2 people an the van.
Report Check-InBeautiful and very clean camp site for tents and vans in a beautiful small bay. Frans and Anneke went out of their way to help us with everything: from getting supplies for our bus to solving engine problems. Very modern and clean toilets and shower, big table with chairs and hammocks in the shade, good wifi, and very safe. We slept on the roof of our van for 3 nights.
Report Check-InAbsolutely beautiful place! We wanted to stay two nights, ended up staying four nights and we didn’t wanna leave! As described clean toilet/showers (with pressure) huge palapas with lot of shade and hammocks. There is a sink now for washing the dishes and a outdoor kitchen is coming soon. We paid 200p per night for 2. Electricity is 50p extra. The place looks small at the first sight but is very clever made so there is space for 3 Campers, 2 big gates for easy entering. Area is very safe, gates closed at night and video monitored. It’s a very clean and quiet neighborhood, also the beach and water is very clean. We loved it and Anne and Pancho are a lovely, welcoming, helpful couple. Don Taco is their dogs name :) They safe the income from camping for a future project to support the kids in the village.
Oh and check out El Capi restaurant at the east end, they serve delicious sea food.
As mentioned in a previous comment, this place is 100% worth the washboard drive. It’s right on the beach, which is stunning, and the vibe of the campground and the town is what you’ve wanted every other little beach town to be. Go there. Go there now. You can thank me later
Report Check-InThis place is amazing. Quiet little village on an incredible bay surrounded by national park. The campsite itself is exactly what I wish all Overlander sites were: cool even in summer, right on the beach, lots of shade, clean bathrooms, lovely owners. Only stayed for a couple of nights but would have happily stayed much longer. Easily my favourite campsite in Mexico.
It’s a small campsite so if you’re in an RV or bigger rig it might be worth emailing first to see if they can accomodate you. Their email is [email protected].
Very nice and clean place... You will see the difference just by passing by. Was almost to "chic" for me... Anyhow - payed 75 to park my motorbike underneath a shelter and putting up my tent. Internet very slow... Beach is a beauty... loved the place. Well worth the visit.
Report Check-InIt’s a relaxing and comfortable spot on the beach. Great sea for swimming.
The owner wasn’t there but a Danish guy was taking care of the property.
Kitchen is not for clients. A sink is still missing.
Per night it’s 150 pesos. Electricity and dump is extra. We stayed three nights.
To get to the place you need to drive a 13 km washboard road to the village of San Agustin. Just take your time to receive the reward.
When you are close to the village, take a few left turns to enter the southern beach road. There is a clear sign post at the property.
beautiful small campsite with currently shower and toilettes. everything brand new (built 2018). there will be a dishwasshing and cooking are coming. hammocks, commonroom. very safe.
Report Check-InI don’t think this place does exist (yet) or the coordinates are completely wrong. Anyway there are plenty of other options nearby.
Report Check-InThis place is in wrong location - it is located at 15.69041, -96.23703
Report Check-InIs owend by 2 Dutch Overlanders. Top clean western toilets and showers. Fast WiFi. There is place for 3 trucks. Direct on beach. With big palappa’s to be out off the sun. With recreation room, open kitchen. Also tent camping. There are 4 restaurants close by.
