Report Check-In

Signs no say day use only- no overnight Camping.

Report Check-In

NOTE: THIS PLACE IS CLOSED. No camping signs were installed today Feb 24, 2023. Campers were not cleaning up after themselves or their dogs…

Report Check-In

Sad to say this place is officially shut down for overnight camping. Signs were put up today, day use only now

Report Check-In

Signs were put up this morning indicating overnight parking is no longer allowed. (See photo — the new sign is the one on the left.) Most campers left after the signs were installed.

The signs may have been paid for and installed by the neighbors. And, the neighbors may be paying police to help with enforcement (asking campers to pay a fine if they break the “rules” listed on the signs).

The signs were NOT installed by the federal government. If they were, they’d have a ZOFEMAT logo on them. See photo — the sign on the right was authorized by ZOFEMAT, and has a ZOFEMAT logo.

My understanding is that the neighbors don’t own the land and, legally, can’t regulate it.

Nice beach for surf , great vanlife spot !

Report Check-In

lots of people camped but still nice. big surf so no swimming but lots of surfers

Report Check-In

great spot, tons of whales. pack in pack it out please. let's not let this beach look like Tecalote.

Report Check-In

stayed for several nights with plenty of company. you can't park or camp on the actual beach, only up to the vegetation line. lots of fun, but waaaaaaay too much toilet paper and human shit in the bushes.

**dig a deep hole, bury your waste, burn or pack out your toilet paper**

I have no doubt we will lose access to this beach if people continue to use it as a latrine.

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay. A little far from the beach but very peaceful. No noise during the night. The bar open only from thursday to sunday. The waves are huge but we still swan. Surf not possible here. Mosquitoes during the night

Report Check-In

Nice place, parking on the beach. The ocean is far from the packed sand though.. And the sand drops quickly in the water, the waves are huge. We didn't get to swim. But still, the view is amazing and we felt very safe!

Stationnement directement sur la plage, mais assez loin de l'eau. Le sable descend de façon abrupte vers l'océan, les vagues sont énormes. Nous ne nous sommes pas baigné. C'est magnifique par contre et nous nous sentions en sécurité.

Stayed there two nights during the weekend and we were the only one spending the night. Many locals coming for the sunset but leaving before 11pm.
No need 4x4, many “city” cars coming here with no issue.
Cell phone reception between 4 bars of 3G to 1 bar of 4G.

I’m back for a 2nd or 3rd visit…. We’ll see how the sleep goes tonight with Officials as previously reported. I do love this spot, but please, let’s try to eliminate the ‘Charmin Lilies’ in the bushes.

Report Check-In

Nearby property owner we chatted with assured us that camping is allowed here and that we shouldn’t be bothered as there are no current beach closures. The arroyo to the north was packed with campers, but nobody was on this side, so we wondered if there had been ongoing issues as described last year. Busy Sunday afternoon and evening at the beach with local families and bar goers. Mostly cleared out after sunset and got quiet by 11pm. A few others campers ended up staying overnight, but nothing like the arroyo. We had a quiet night of sleep.

Report Check-In

Nice place close to the beach.

The beach bar has new ownership, so the prices are a little more Americanized. Still, great spot and friendly bar staff.

Camped for a couple nights. On the last night, we woke up to someone shining some lights in the windows. The boyfriend got out of the car, couldn't tell if it was official or not, but they said we had to pay a fee to stay or leave. Boyfriend said we would leave, but ended up staying the rest of the night in peace.

Asked the neighbors in the morning and they said they were trying to charge 600 pesos. Said due to Covid the beach was closed for camping, but didn't bother any of us after that.

Pretty sure it was just a scam. Just be aware!

Will camp here again but the bushes do smell like poo.

Report Check-In

Second night we came to camp in the week, cops came around 10:30pm claiming that the beach was closed and that because we were camping we had to pay a fine, I asked them to show me any document stating both the claim and the amount of the fine, they could only show me an article online saying that the beach is going to close on March 1st (article from 2020)
After a back and forth they told us (and another camper in a suv to just move) we all went to try to park at the bar (the guy taking care of the place didn’t let us, not his call to make) we ended up coming back and parking next to each other.
We googled for hours trying to find anything saying anything about the closure of the beaches or any fines but if anything we learned that the “semáforo” is going from level 4 to level 3, so don’t let them bamboozle you.

Also please stop using the mangrove as a toilet, bring a shovel, if you can’t dig deep enough go to the toilet in the bar, even if you are only peeing. Put your toilet paper in your trash.
Pee/ dig a hole at least 100 feet from where people are/will possibly camp.
Some beaches have been closed by the environmental police and this is on us as much as it is on the locals.

Report Check-In

Beautiful beach. Surfers. Campers come and go.
Getting here for the first time might be tricky. Take a left off of Highway 1 soon after kilometer marker 61, on to the desert road, and then go under the bridge. There will often be Y’s... opt for the right. Soon you’ll see large hill... keep heading for that keeping to the right, except where the right obviously goes around the west side of that hill. .. you want to be on the south side, so take the left at that Y. Before you know it, you’ll be on the beach.

Report Check-In

Plenty of place to park at the beach and enjoy. Great surf spot and Close to lots of things, it’s safe and we are next to a cozy and great bar call pura playa.

Report Check-In

My favorite campsite in the area. After 1.5 months of exploring Baja from Ensenada to Todos Santos, we finally found a campsite where the average age is lower then 72! I recommend taking a 6 mile walk down the beach, it’s beautiful!

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

We stayed here 1 night. Medium size lot with views of the beach. It’s pretty open and has some regular/permanent? Rigs set up, so not much privacy.
Looks to be a good surfing spot.
Pretty Mountain View to the left and a beach bar to the right.
Nice for 1 night.

Report Check-In

True Story: Whales spouting in the front yard. Beach Bar next door. Free Camping. Sweet beach.

Report Check-In

Great surf beach with plenty of room for rigs of any size. Beware of the bushes though. The only facilities are port-a-potties paid for by the group of people who live here so they are padlocked. And there is a steady stream of people walking to and from the bushes with shovels.

Also, there was no beachfront camping as that is all taken by people who full-time here. There are about 9 or 10 rigs of what appear to be full-time residents.

Some of the full timers are nice but some aren’t so welcoming. Their dogs run free (and constantly came into our campsite) but they threatened to call the police if we let outs run loose. And there were multiple “f-ing tourist” comments as I walked to the beach with my kiddos. But my husband had great early morning and late afternoon surf sessions so it’s a trade-off. I definitely would not come back with my dogs because it was too stressful to have to leash them or keep them in the rig with all the other dogs coming and going.

Report Check-In

I’ve been coming here a few times now and this is the busiest I’ve ever seen it. Not bad in any way, the people are all surfers, travelers and kind locals. I highly recommend staying here even if only for the day. Free to camp with a bar near by.

Report Check-In

The road in is very accessible, we made it in with our 21ft, 2wd front wheel drive. No problems at all. Plenty of space for many vehicles around the trees. We walk down the beach before sunset to watch the release of the baby turtles

Report Check-In

Stayed one night. A few mosquitos at sunset but bearable with repellent. The following morning we woke up and walked to see the turtles hatch.
It had been raining all morning, and we left in the early afternoon as we were afraid we could get stuck in the mud on the way back. It didn’t happen but the heavy rain definitely washed out most of the road and there were a few cracks.

Report Check-In

We preferred camping here over the arroyo next door. The beach is less rocky and easier for swim/surf. No facilities, local scene every morning for sunrise surf.

Report Check-In

Great spot.Do be careful not to get stuck. We have a 27ft and no Problems.Go see the turtle Release in November at 7am and 5pm and leave a donation for the work being done.

Report Check-In

Great spot, we’ve been here for a few days with some friends. No problems at all, really quiet. We don’t use the Pura Playa’s bathroom, so we can’t tell. It’s important to say that, when following google maps instructions, you’ll find a bifurcation at the sand street (it has a sign saying “pura playa >>”) go to the left, because at right you’ll find soft sand and could get stuck, as happened to some of our friends. Please take your garbage with you and if you can, help to collect garbage you find on these spots. These beach is an important nest to turtles and garbage doesn’t contributes with the community effort to the animals preserve. Just like vehicles on the beach and dogs without leashes (dogs enter to the turtles caretakers camping and eat eggs and the own turtles too). We’ve been talking with a turtles caretaker and she gave us a lot of information. If it’s the right season you could see turtles release daily (it’s magical) and the community needs help and donations to keep working on it. If you’re interested to be in a turtles release you can send a message (whatsapp) to +526121420480. They probably won’t ask for donations, so if you want to, just make an offer. The turtle camping is close to this spot, you can find it easily walking to the south of the beach.

Report Check-In

Nice beach for surfing but not great for swimming. Road in is fine for 2WD and big rigs but be careful near the beach as sand is deceptively soft. I got stuck as did three other vehicles during my stay.

Report Check-In

This beach spot is great. But heads up, there’s a creep who was driving around the area during the day yesterday, leering at women, masturbating and exposing himself. I don’t know if he comes around regularly but keep your eyes peeled. Driving a dark grey Jeep with Mexican plates.

On fait une escapade de quelques jours... On rejoint des amis. La plage est magnifique, on respire le grand air, un spot gratuit incroyable. Apportez des vivres, vous ne voudrez plus quitter...

Report Check-In

Free beach camping! No amenities. Quiet spot to the south of the big main campground. Spots are squeezed in between bushes so nice privacy between campers. Right next to Pura Playa, the beach bar (can use toilets if you are a customer). Surfers show up in the morning and leave by mid-day. Huge beach so lots of room to spread out! Love this spot in our F-350 truck camper.

Report Check-In

Great spot to free camp. Nice little beach bar with bathrooms and an outside shower to rinse off if you are a customer. Limited hours. Great beach.

Report Check-In

Camping area near the Beach Bar at Playa San Pedrito. At least 50 Campers were there, many of them surfers in vans or tents but also some big rigs. There are some pit toilets, the 2 km dirtroad is a bit bumpy but fine for any kind of RV. We found this place less beautiful than Las Playitas to the north or Punta la Tinaja to the south.

Report Check-In

Great free camping. Gets busy with surfers from morning til about 1pm, then it was just us and a few other vans. On full moon the waves got huge and we woke up with our back tires sinking into wet sand. We were pulled out by some lovely Canadians with their 4x4 truck. Be warned

Report Check-In

Beautiful beach ! You can park just before the bar, as after it’s private.
This part of the beach isn’t rocky (just a few in the ocean), sand is amazing. However it’s more a surf spot than a spot to swim, but may depend on the wind. We did enjoy ocean with our kids.
The road to access this part of the beach is ok, feasible with a 30Ft RV (no need for a 4WD). Be careful and check that it’s not the time for big tide, as the sea can come up to the parking ! (Rare but possible)

Report Check-In

Nice spot, beach is a bit muddy just after where we camp.

Report Check-In

good spot, as describe. The bar is closed on monday and tuesday right now. Maybe because of off-season.
It is a bit muddy between the parking and the beach because of the rain I am assuming, and not because people dump there grey water here...?, it didn’t smell bad.
not the best place for us but good enough to stay 2 days! It is also close to the town by bike. there is couple of dogs around, friendly.

Report Check-In

Camped here for free, all was as described. Beautiful spot, but people definitely use the turnouts as bathrooms. Beware of where you step.

Report Check-In

Great little campspots really close to the beach and surfspot.
There’s a bar at the end of the road with an established campground but the area before the « private property » sign is free. No facilities but the bar has toilets and a shower for the customers.

Easy to get to the spot. From the North (coming from Todos Santos) turn right just before the Laundry place and follow a dirtroad through some fields and farms. Follow the « beach bar » sign. Accessible without a 4x4.
