Exit Visa for Dogs | Customs and Immigration

DOGS OWNERS:

To take the plane with your dog (leaving Panama):
1: obtain a simple health certificate for your dog in the vet of your choise. Validity: 10 days maximum.
We paid 35 USD in a vet of Panama City.

IMPORTANT: to save a lot of money, don't listen to them if they propose you to do all the paperwork! They charge you 120 USD (Vet City) or 130 USD (Andy's vet, who say salso that a vaccination againt rabies CERTIFICATE is mandatory, witch is wrong: only the vaccination is mandatory, not the expensive certificate), for almost nothing!

2: go to the MIDA, on 1st floor of the building. No MIDA sign! Agents are very nice. They will explain you what to do

3: if you haven't been able before to fill the online form on the website:
http://aplicaciones.mida.gob.pa/licexport (seem to work only from a computer, not from a smartphone), don't worry! You can go to the chinese shop that is 10 meters on the right pf MIDA. The guy will fill the form for you for 2 USD only. He's an expert! Take a picture of the form number (will be requiered by MIDA). No need to print it.

If you don't have yet, make in the same chinese shop 1 copie of your health certificate and 1 copie of the vaccinations of your dog.

4: go back in MIDA. Give them:
- 1 copy of the certificate health,
- 1 copy of vaccinations.
- Then give them the number of the form you just have filed online.

Pay them 10 USD by credit card. No need to go to the bank (only of you want to pay with cash).
And wait a little (20 or 30mn).
Agents will give you the export permit and that'all!

OTHER INFORMATION : Wingo airline doesn't accept medium or big dogs in their planes...

ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL process if you want to bring you dog or cat with you on an airline out of Panama. Start with a visit to a veterinarian for health certificate than follow the steps below, look at photos too! You will not be boarded on an airline without the final government form.

Step3. After obtaining cert of health from vet and bank receipt AND completing online form then come here. Tell the agent the 5 digit ID number you received online and they will give you a MINA form. You are now good to exit Panama. Computers are often down so try to come a day or two early.

After paying at Banco National, I took my receipt and my chances and walked to the office, although Dr.Andrea said go there next day..

The office is almost at the end of this store front, down the few steps and to your right. Before the stairs is a copy shop, for us$0.15 you can make a copy of your Health Cert. from the vet which you’ll need at the office.

We walked in - showed Health Cert, bank receipt and our pet passport and 3 minutes later walked out with the needed export document.

Maybe we were lucky, maybe processing time takes usually longer, but we got it done all in one day - Edison Plaza with waiting time & searching 30-45min.

PARKING: all parking at EdisonPlaza is paid parking and “fenced off” but possible to enter. We parked beside street, one stayed in the car, no costs.

You get the acct info from MIdA and then go to bank. Fill out deposit and return with factura. I filled out on line form the night before and whole process took 30 minutes.

There is a copy store next door should u need to complete the forms on site.

Parking sucks so be prepared to walk as building is downtown

Get Vet health certificate first. Make 2 copies of it plus vaccination and parasite treatment records. Go to the website mentioned below and complete the form. When you hit submit, a number will pop up. SAVE THAT NUMBER!
Go to the office with that number and your copies. They will send you to the bank to pay. When you return they give you form.
I had troubles with form so I handed them my computer (linked by hotspot to phone) and they helped with form submission. It was 4pm and they told me to come back the next day after 1:00. Next day it was all ready. Stay calm, this part is easy. Now send a photo of this to airlines ASAP or carry copy with you on boat. (Also send or carry copies of health certificate and vac/treatment records)

it’s technically possible to get this done within an hour or so. we showed up at 3:30 on a friday and despite waiting in line at the bank for 45 minutes we got it. the ladies actually stayed late just for us. the paper to me seems easily photoshopable other than an embossed stamp.

UPDATE:

1. Go to vet within 10 days of exit flight, and bring vaccination records and proof of anti- external/internal parasite medication. Obtain Certificado de buen salud. Get multiple copies, as well as electronic format (email.)

2. Go to this MIDA location (door didn’t say MIDA anywhere, just ask around for permission for pets to leave.) Get bank payment information and application website (or fill out a day in advance here: http://aplicaciones.mida.gob.pa/licexport ... click red mascotas button, fill out left (exporter) with information of lodging in Panama and the right (imposter) with your lodging information in next country. Leave nothing blank (even fax). Fill out bottom for pet(s). One form/payment included two dogs. Note the application number-you will need this later.

3. Go to national bank next door and pay $5 USD as instructed.

4. Return to nondescript MIDA office. Hand in receipt, copy of Panamanian certificado de buen salud, and copy of vaccination records.

5. Take receipt and pick up permit that afternoon or next morning depending on availability of the veterinarian.

the admin at the office can help. but if you want to be proactive....1. go to the website and fill out the application. (see pic). keep the number it spits out after submission. 2. go to the bank and deposit $5. (see pic). keep rec't. 3. take documents, number, rec't to blue door (looks like it is closed but isnt). give receptionist your docs. should be ready in a few min.
