Access is very steep and rocky. We preferred not to take any risks with our 7m vehicle and did not descend.

As indicated you can stay here for a night or more. Some locals come to have dinner or just enjoy the water. You can easily put a tent on the grass.
Careful when it rains though the road can get very slippery and you ll be stuck at the bottom

Very nice and cute place for only an RV, in the shade. Very quiet day and night. Clean!
No sign prohibiting parking or sleeping, we had no problem.

So beautiful, the water is clear blue and no bad smells at all. Dog friendly area, with 20 meters of rough dirt road. Easy to manage in a low clearance 2wd.
Locals are really friendly and there is a picnic area is perfect to setup and cook and relax outside.

We forgot to mention that when we were at Xul-ha we spoke with some expats who have been living there for almost two years. They said that the lagoon is spring fed, not river fed and as such has a high mineral content. Some researchers came by a while back and tested the water. It tested high in sulphur. We just wanted to clear up the waste water comment in another post. Rest assured, the smell is not sewage, but rather the naturally occuring elements present in the water...like you'd find at a natural hot spring. We noticed a slight sulphuric smell while we were there but nothing offensive.
Also, I've included a picture of the "no camping" sign they've put up. As I mentioned in my previous post, the spot at "Laguna Milagros" was a great place to spend the night if you want to swim all day at Xul-Ha. It's only 10-12 mins down the road.

This is a cute little park with cinderblock and wooden benches and a grassy field. The water here is spectacular and deep. The road down to the park is a bit steep and rough, just go slow.
We were here on a holiday Monday and there were lots of locals swimming and picnicking. As the sun was setting we were sitting outside and a local woman came by and told us that people were not allowed to park here overnight because of "security". The town seemed SUPER SAFE, and she didn't seem "official" in any way, but we didn't want to annoy anyone, so we went back to the little spot on Laguna Milagros, the other iOverlander spot 10 minutes down the road (where we stayed with no issues for 3 nights. We even slept with our windows down for air, it felt so safe). When we returned to enjoy Xul-ha the next day, we did see a sign at the top of the driveway down to the park that was painted with a tent and VW RV with X's through them. I won't mark this place closed, but just be aware you may be asked to leave.

.... as described.

We did stay 2 nights, had no problems.

Water in the lake is clear, but it has (depends on weather & wind) a smell of being contaminated with waste water. No wonder with so many properties all around the shore.....

Nice spot. A pack of dogs barking at night. A very steep hill to access the location: it can be difficult to leave, after a night of rain, or with an heavy loaded front wheel unit.

we sleep one night there. we drop our kayak on the beautiful Lake. Free and Safe.

We spent a night here and it was perfect ! Right on the lake with trees to hang your hammock, very quiet on that thursday night (except dogs barking sometimes), nice fish when you snorkel, green parrots in the trees around. Must be more busy during week ends.
