Stayed here for one night and was not charged. Great spot near the water. Unpaved road for a portion of the drive but the road was in decent condition. The easiest way to get to the campsite is to follow the “whale” signs. Area is very popular for whale watching.

There are 3 or 4 excellent spots just being the main set of camps

There are a couple excellent spots just beyond the main set of camps.

You’re a fool if you don’t come here for the whale watching. So much better than the other spots! And the camping is beautiful. 100P a night is worth the porta potty, the tons of garbage cans, the really nice staff and good food! Cannot recommend more. It’s my second time and I’m staying another night to. Go back out tomorrow. Some nice trails to walk too!

Quiet, nice place. There are five spots after the main camping area. Nice view of the laguna. The 25 km Road to the Ojo is in good shape, some parts with washbord, but not to bad. The wale tour worth every penny, its absolutly amazing. Look for a day with less wind, and go early in the mornig.

its no choice, you have to pay 100 Pesos or 200 Pesos (with a hut) for parking each day, we went 2 km the nice way to the Last place. Beautiful scenery. lots of Animation, whale Main season this year middle of february, nice milkyway, very quite, but almost windy

ahh, pricing seem to have changed a bit, yesterday when I arrived. The guard asked me for 200 pesos. But it's well worth it anyways. It goes to good cause, and apparently there is showers. I have to say I would pay a lot more just to be out here. That said, I've got my eye on that road that goes up the hill from near the end of the campsite. I have checked it out with my bike, and if you can sneak up there, there's some pretty fabulous very secluded places, and even one with very good beach access.

Came here hoping to see the whales but we were a little too early, at least camping was free.

Regardless, this place is awesome. We drove to almost the end of the campground and took the spot by the lagoon.

At dinner a pack of three brave coyotes decided to join us looking for a snack. They seemed harmless to humans but were very bold and not scared of us at all. However, because they were three of them, once they got within 5m of our camp, I tried to scare them off. Yelling and shouting and kicking sand got them to back off for a few min but they kept coming back. It took lighting off a roman candle to get them to take off for about 3 hrs. I woke up to pee in middle of night and saw a set of ears silhouetted in the moonlight near the the bushes...

Keep a very close eye on little kids and pets. as we were leaving the next morning, we saw another person letting his dogs chase and be chased the coyotes... we tried to warn him but the guy thought it was funny........ yikes.

Place is open, prices as listed below. The palapas are nice, but if you ride a bit further to the back you can camp next to the beach and sea.

No stores or whatsoever around, so come prepared. The guard at the gate told us the restaurant is open but we didn't go there.

Confirm everything as recently stated by posters over the last two months. Note: there is cell service up to about 1-2 km before reaching the gate for the camp.

Beautiful sandy spots by the lagoon. No cell coverage. Pit toilets, garbage cans and camp rings.

to enter the barrier at the carpark you pay 100 pesos you will get a ticket with you regitration number... I entered after 5pm the barrier was up.
to camp it's free. NOT 100 pesos per night. the money goes to the community. Going on a boat tour or eating in the restaurant is better than handing out pesos randomly

Desert camping in front of laguna. No cell service. 5$ a night. Peaceful and beautiful if you like desert area. Totally safe. Around 15 spots. National park. Opportunity to see whales really close from organized boat tour

Report Check-In

Same campground as one marked as Ojo de Liebre to the east, except this area is on the sandy shore along the canal and doesn’t have palapas like the sites near the entrance. Only one pit toilet on this side. 100 pesos per car per night without palapa or 200 with palapa. It gets very windy throughout the day and night, so get a palapa if you’re tent camping or cooking outside. Restaurant onsite with Mexican food and drinks open from 8am-8pm. Overall, great campground to watch the whales from! You can see and hear them from shore. We didn’t take a boat tour but it’s $50 per person. Tours from 8 am - 3:30 pm. Cash only.

We spent three nights here over Christmas. Nobody collected any money and there was nobody at the gate, nor anyone around at the restaurant or doing tours.

The road on from the highway takes you through a working mine and you share the road with haul trucks etc.

The road that goes through the entrance gate and north along the bay flooded with about a foot of water at high tide. Our first site, site 6, also flooded with maybe 6 inches of water at high tide.

As you head away from the restaurant the sites get higher above the water and also nicer.

Report Check-In

campground not officially open yet but gate was open. beautiful spot to spend christmas. drove down to the end for a better spot. some of the lower spots can get flooded with big tides.

saw 1 whale in 3 days. lots of really cool canonball/blueberry jellyfish. at least i think thats what they are. lots of coyotes that come right through the campsites.

can get cell service about 3km before the entrance to the campground on the road.

You have to pay 5$ or 100 pesos but there was no one around to collect the money so we drove in, everything was open. We were the only ones. It was beautiful!! Just fyi there is a guard at the very beginning of the road down there who writes down your name and number plate (probably cause you are driving through a part of the salt factory)

Absolutely great camping directly at the Laguna Ojo de Liebre. You have to pay an entrance fee of $5 or 90 Peso and can stay as long as you want at the designated sites each with a trash can and few pit toilets. Clean, quiet, beautiful. Some facilities are available at the restaurant (closed at our visit). We saw Dolphins but only few whales were in the bay during our visit.

This is part of the same camp. ypu have to pay 100 pesos or 5 usd to enter and camp (+5usd more if you want palapa). Anyway is worth it...the place is very good mantained, you have pit toilets, is veeeery quiet and beatifull. We didnt do the whale tour, but you can see and hear them from the shore.
