Description

A 100 pesos campground with fire spots, palapas and a pit toilet.
Very beautiful place in a Canyon. Perfect for a night stop. Amazing Sunsets.
The road is good but be careful after rain, if you don't have 4WD.
Bring your firewood as there is nothing around. Someone takes care of the place.
The entrance is marked by a white "picket-like" fence with an opening. (See pictures.)

Other accounts accurate as described. Great spot! Very fine, silty sand seems to get everywhere!

Report Check-In

gate closed, couldn't get in, angry dogs barking

Report Check-In

Spent the night camping here, we stoped at the little house at the gate and the friendly lady asked us 70MXN (we were 2 on bicycles) and we camped at the bottom of the cliff. It has pit toilet, water, electricity, table and a small roof. Beautiful sunset on the beach, this place is great I stayed 3 years ago with my van.

Report Check-In

200 pesos and the lady said it included 3-4 nights. Great little spot with pit toilet, water, electricity and concrete BBQ and palapa. Only ones here except for some fishermans in the early morning.

Report Check-In

We tried to get into this spot today. There was a gate with some dolphins and it was halfway open. As we opened it a friendly lady came out of the tiny house next to it.
We couldn’t understand any word (shame on us) and she didn’t speak any English unfortunately.
Anyways, she said something about money so it doesn’t seem that this place is for free anymore.
In the end we left and continued our trip to El Rosario.

Report Check-In

This is probably the same place we went to, 100p a night

Report Check-In

This campsite must have just been built in the past month or so. Nice spots tucked into the cliffside for wind protection. Has a pit toilet, each site has nonpotable water, 2 electric outlets, a cook area with a BBQ for charcoal, a nice palatable and a concrete picnic table. Beach is nearby for fishing, also decent cell service!

100 pesos per night.

We are in a Transit van but I'm pretty confident almost any truck and trailer could get down here.

Report Check-In

lady came down and we paid 100 pesos for car rv.

Report Check-In

what a beautiful place. electricity and water right at the palapa. big rocks at the beach but if tide is out you have sand. They planted palm trees and a few bushes. place is super clean. the gate is decorated with dolphins 🐬 just push it open drive through and close it again. white fence posts and the beautiful design of the entrance makes you think it is a private residence. we went to the left and down, yes it it rains it would be slippery. Nice ocean breeze coming in , dolphin and pelican show was awesome too. very peaceful and quiet.

Report Check-In

We went down to the right as the left side was pretty washed out and muddy from recent rain. Only one here, aside from some local people fishing in the morning. Beautiful view and hidden from the highway so felt safe

Report Check-In

Closed :( not sure if it’s because it’s 8am . . . Nice spot!

Report Check-In

This place is amazing. Can’t believe it’s free with all the developments. There was electricity and a working light bulb in the shaded area for the nights. A table and benches built out of cement. Though there was a tap at each of the 4 site I saw, there was no water coming out. One of these sites was trashed, PLEASE take out your trash. Don’t make the owners mad by trashing this beautiful FREE place. Gorgeous views!

Report Check-In

Can't believe this place is free! Beautiful beach camping, right on the water. Each site has a table, shaded canopy with a light, water (which is switched off at night) and plug socket. There's even a volleyball court! We had the whole place to ourselves, but can imagine it would get busier during peak season - would be a great place to meet other overlanders. Some cell signal. After going through the gate, we took the slope going down to the left - you can go right too, but not sure how those sites are as we didn't go that way. Highly recommend.

Report Check-In

Such a great free campground. There are so many spaces to camp with a view on the ocean. You can even spot some lovely dolphins
The only thing we could say, there is a lot of dust due to the ground (just be prepared to have a new colour of you car )
2 bars of 3G on Telcel

Report Check-In

We stayed here, like others have said it is free and safe.
Lots of mosquitoes surprisingly since I couldn’t located stagnant water.
Please clean up after yourselves and keep it better than how you found it

Report Check-In

Wow. Incredible location, tucked away from the highway with ample space for a few campers or rv set ups. Gate was open and signs point to the camping area. There’s a little slope getting there but manageable with my promaster 2wd.

Report Check-In

We loved spending a night at this free, amazing campsite. The friendly owner or his brother come down in the morning to water the few small trees they’re growing, a few fishermen and locals visit the oceanfront during the day, but otherwise there was only one other camper. Gorgeous sunset. Outhouse. Clean grounds. Quite the spot!

Report Check-In

Out of sight of highway, friendly foreman, invited me for dinner. They are improving this camp with a gate. 2wd ok. Feels safe. Easy walking access to a pebble beach. High tide on undercut cliff is incredible.

Report Check-In

Cute and beautiful spot. Extremely well maintained and feels very safe. Cannot believe it’s free… such an oasis.

Report Check-In

Great spot! Protected from the wind. Water taps and electric plugs in the palapas, as well as picnic tables. Trash cans are available but there was still some trash left around the campsites. Called the number because the gate was closed when we arrived but he told us to go right in and no need to pay anything. Super nice guy! Highly recommend this place.

Report Check-In

Stayed all the way to the right of the house, so never saw the palapas and amenities that others noted. Our favorite spot so far on the west coast of Baja. Had the place to ourselves and felt safe as it’s out of sight of the highway. High tide was breathtaking! And the road down was fine for our 2wd 90s passenger van. It does seem like the property owners are planning something larger for this area as there were some new seeming baby palm trees lining the edge and this seemed to be a somewhat untouched side of the “camping area”.

Report Check-In

Great place. Palapas are still there, as well as water taps. Always free. Super nice

Report Check-In

Fantastic place to stop overnight. The palapas are removed but the owner seems to be working on something new. Friendly dogs stayed with us all night. They do belong to the owner. We got there after dark on the Christmas Eve. Those dog escorted us to our camp site on the lowest canyon. We have a sprinter so we were prepared for 4x4 if needed. But the road was just fine.

Report Check-In

There are 6 puppies about 8 weeks old here now. We came by 2.5 weeks ago and there were no pups. We gave them food but looks like they are starving. We already have a dog otherwise we would have taken one. I’m hoping a few kind hearted overlanders will adopt them

Also, great place as usual. Super quiet. We were the only ones there last night

Report Check-In

Place like this would not exist outside of Mexico! When we arrived the owner was using his truck to grade the surface. The place had not one piece of garbage and looked pristine! We were the only visitors for th e whole day and night. We got down and up on our GMC safari 2wd without any issues. It was free. The 3 lovely dogs (i took a thousand photos of them, so much love!) will guard you and accompany anywhere you go - was so hard to say good buy!

Report Check-In

To access the campsite, turn off the highway at N30.19781 W115.78999. On Google Maps this place is called Arroyo Amargo. There are conspicuous white concrete fence posts along the highway. There are 4 palapas at the lower site. The owner was working on the upper site when we arrived. The hill down to the lower site is quite steep and sandy. No problem when it's dry. Locals collect stones at the beach, apparently for use in landscaping.

Report Check-In

beautiful place. see prior check-ins for description. the access road has some significant erosion which could limit some vehicles or their driver's

Report Check-In

Coastal Baja vibes. Spent our first night in Mexico here. The owner of this land allows overlanders to stay here with the only request being to throw rubbish in the trash can. Other rigs here, makes for a comforting night sleep- along with all of the stars and the waves crashing. Could stay forever

Report Check-In

Fantastic spot! Ocean views, company of very friendly puppies which will guard you all night and day :) we loved their company :) there is s pit toilet and shelter down near the water we parked up on the top, we have a 2wd 21ft didn’t risk driving down to the beach. Literally a short walk down the entrance to the bottom. Please respect this place, the owner has put a lot of work into this spot and doesn’t charge you.... please respect:) plenty of room for many vehicles we were the only ones here

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot! Free, no one here but us - a 26 ft RV. Nice sandy dunes and a rocky beach. Love falling asleep to the sound of the waves!

Report Check-In

I couldn't access to fire pits and so as the gate was closed.

I slept further down in the canyon, and just met a car driving away when I was arriving, nobody else. 4wd isn't really necessary, but make sure you can get out before you get in, as probably nobody will come around to help you.

No shade during the day, and windy at night, I packed up my tent and went back to sleep in my car at some time.

The ocean is ruff here, especially at high tide. Don't recommend going for a swim.

Report Check-In

Amazing free camp ground!! Beautiful kept! Lets keep it that way. Word of warning, do not leave your shoes outside, I woke up and found one of the dogs from the nearby property sleeping with one of my shoes. Never found where he hid the other one.

Report Check-In

Fantastic location! We had the place to ourselves, other than the two local puppies (reasonably well-behaved) which kept us company for our entire stay. We were able to hang our hammock-tents under the palapas. Pit toilet was clean. Lovely beach for walks.

Report Check-In

beautiful spot, had the place to ourselves. hidden from the wind and a fun beach to explore. super clean well looked after camp!

Report Check-In

Still our favorite place on this long journey! Had to stop here again on our way back up!

Report Check-In

Incredibly beautiful and free! well taken care of, please help keep it that way. pit toilet and established fire pit area. beach is rocky

Report Check-In

Très tranquille,barbeuc et poubelle à disposition,endroit propre

Report Check-In

what a GEM ! so lovely , felt super safe , beautiful spot stayed 2 nights was free , 5stars !

Report Check-In

By far the most beautiful place we've ever been. So fun pulling in and having this huge lot of land to choose wherever we wanted to park. We stayed about 5 feet from the lower cliff super close to the water. This place is not for surfing, rocky beach and not big waves. Super quiet as long as you love the sounds of waves crashing on rocks, which practically rocked us to sleep :) we weren't bothered and didn't see the owner at all. in the morning we were greeted by 2 of his dogs which just came by to inspect us and head off. Spectacular view of ocean from wherever you park. There's an outhouse which we didn't checkout, but seemed operational, and a big trash can at the entrance. Overall super beautiful place and so safe that we felt comfortable to leave our windows open while we slept. Make sure to bring a couple chairs and wine/beer cause you won't be able to resist watching the sunset set over the water

Report Check-In

Really secluded and beautiful spot. No other campers and no one came to collect money. Can’t see the road and the turn off is unmarked. One truck drove down in the late afternoon and just idled for a bit then left, no one else came until some fisherman in the morning. Felt safe overall, though a little secluded for the first night of our trip. Would recommend.

Report Check-In

absolutely amazing. we arrived when owner Illario was watering the little trees he is planting and asked him about paying. he said it's all free. awesome fire pit set ups and sweet sunset spot directly on the ses. felt super safe and tucked away from the road, despite it only being 200 m drive on a dirt road. couldn't hear the road either.
outhouse is clean and simple and the whole place is super clean.

Report Check-In

still clean and perfect road in. had the spot to ourselves other than the RV parked at the top. well worth checking out. be respectful, clean up after yourself. waves were messy and weren't worth surfing.

Report Check-In

exactly as promised. lots of spots with palapas right by the ocean. very easy to get to. rocky beach.

Report Check-In

Lovely place. Had a great stay. Saw nobody other than a camper parked above us on the sand cliff. Pretty clean. Garbage bins full. Be respectful and pack out what you bring in.

Report Check-In

Very nice spot, sheltered from the road, close to the Ocean. Short, steep road leads down.

Report Check-In

it was raining and start getting dark decided to go to this spot since it is close enough from the highway and the beach. once we pull in to the road we started to slide.. so decided to turn around since it was bad idea to drive on slippery dirt road with 2wd. yup.. we stucked in a mud. guess camped on the middle of the dirt road for the night. lesson learned.

Report Check-In

Fabulous!!! We met the owner of the property and he’s amazingly nice. He’s glad people like and use the property. And, yes, it’s free! There are several places to park. The beach (the road to the left) has the outhouse and palapas. The road to the right goes by his house and then heads down to another beach. We parked at an upper flat spot with a great view b/c we planned on leaving early. There’s been a lot of work put into this place, makes me wonder if he eventually plans on a bigger, more organized campground. Highly recommend! No utilities.

Report Check-In

who pass by the Mex1 can't see this spot, although is very close from the highway. Nobody came charge us and the night was unbelievably starlit. Beautiful place.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place private, has a outhouse, right next to the ocean. A local came by,I asked if we could camp here he said no problem his brother owned the place he said you can camp for free

Report Check-In

Great spot for a night far enough from hiway 1( but can see car lights) with easy access to lots of spots. This one is to the right. To the left is a cliff spot and then down steep graded 100 meters is the spot w metal roof palapas and the easier beach access— rough and beautiful surf! Telcel Noons came to charge. WC both spots — pls use them and keep it spotless!!

Report Check-In

Confusing place, we camped on the bluffs on the north side of the house/palapa (which is now gated). Quiet and clean, 3 other overlanders also there

Report Check-In

Just like other users said... beautiful, well-cared for and private.

Report Check-In

Nice spot, epic view, road leading down into the lower canyon is a bit treacherous after all the rains lately but still plenty of room up top. Keep it clean!

Report Check-In

nice spot. easy accessible with 2wd. ocean is quite noisy. were the only ones in December.

Report Check-In

very nice place in front of the shore, free, a couple of fishermen in the morning. very quiet !

Report Check-In

Amazing set up. Easy access off main highway. Definitely maintained but also free. I walked around looking to pay someone and no one to be found. Remote and beautiful, had a little cell service close to the beach

Report Check-In

can't believe nobody came to charge me for camping. clean and beautiful spot on the ocean. felt really safe.

Report Check-In

A Campground for free. With fire spots, Palabas and a pit toilet. Very Beautiful place in a Canyon. Perfect for a night stop. The road is good. But bring your Firewood here is nothing around. Amazing Sunsets. When i stoped here the first night i was surprised that nobody came to collect money. Because someone takes care of the place.
