Up the old highway and turn left into big open area with lots of room. Got trailer in no problem. On busy nights you won’t be alone. 5 stars, what you hope every car camping spot would be. 1-2 bars Verizon LTE. some AT&T.

Okay for a night, not super clean. Good if you want to go up Observation Point early. No amenities.

Report Check-In

Only good spot to stay the night in the snow. Couldn’t make it to any other BLM. really slanted, not good for a long stay.

Report Check-In

Hard to spot the entrance off the highway. Go down a little less than a mile. You can turn left but the road gets real bumpy or you can continue straight and there’s a few options.

Report Check-In

Great area with several campsites. Nice views and close to the park. 2 bars of Verizon.

Report Check-In

i wasnt quite sure where the road to get here was but i found a big gravel spot right off the highway that was good enough to stop and sleep at

Report Check-In

Nice spot. Plenty of room and cell service. Off the road enough to be pretty quit. Road coming in was not bad for our 24ft rv.

Report Check-In

No problems making it in with my Chevy Sonic. Lots of open space with plenty of flat ground for tents. A couple campers here & a few more showed up throughout the evening but big enough to spread out.

Report Check-In

Great place, as described. Beautiful scenary, especially during sunset/sunrise, descent at&t reception and easily accessible.

Report Check-In

Nice wild camping area with lots of camping spots. There were 4 other campers here the night we stayed. Great scenery and good cell service with Verizon.

Report Check-In

Nice views of sunrise and sunset. Large open gravel lot with plenty of space for large vehicles. Mostly level. Nice evening breeze. About 30 minutes from Zion.

Report Check-In

Fantastic place! You'll take Hwy 9 to a road that was paved at one time and is pretty beat up. Any vehicle will make it, it's just bumpy. You'll pass a 4x4 road on your left, don't worry, there is a smoother road just ahead. Make a left into the camping area and there's all kinds of space, from small little nooks between the trees, to big open spaces for big rigs.

As is unfortunately common near national parks where people camp in tents, there is a fair amount of toilet paper around. That's just gross, but is really the only negative thing I can say about this spot.

Verizon service is weak but usable, I have a booster and that brought it to good. Not lightning fast, but good.

Report Check-In

BLM space with lots of little private nooks with flat space and fire pits. 2wd no problem in dry weather. some AT&T service. no facilities. stunning sunsets and stars.

Report Check-In

5 stars, what you hope every car camping spot would be. 1-2 bars Verizon LTE.

Report Check-In

Great large flat spot to camp, just outside east zion

Report Check-In

Large dispersed camping area with good views up the hill, quiet, lots of greenery around, well off the highway on BLM land. TLDR details below. This applies to both of the iOverlander BLM camping locations off the old Highway 9 road, 7 miles east of the East Entrance to Zion.

24’ Class C RV, had no issues getting here. Not recommended for large Class As.

Directions: turn south off Utah Highway 9, 7 miles (11km) east of the East Entrance to Zion, or about 5 miles (7km) west of US 89. This road is the old Highway 9, although the asphalt is disintegrating so there are some moderate potholes and dips in the road. About 1 mile down the road are 3 turnoffs left, all go uphill to the same camping area. The 1st and 3rd are 4WD high clearance only, dirt, badly rutted. The 2nd is sandy gravel, suitable for RVs. With a catch.

If rain is forecast, don’t go up there in anything but a 4WD truck.

The top of the 2nd road is a basin that fills with water when it rains or the snow melts. It’s now mid March, and it is over a foot deep, 12’ (4m) wide, passable only by the foolhardy. (High risk of getting stuck without 4WD.) The basin can hold up to 3’ (1m) of water, and the only way around it is a 4WD trail unsuitable for trailers, duallies, vans, or regular RVs. It’s semiarid around here, so snowpack or unusual rains are the only time to worry.

The camping area on the other side of the basin will hold a couple dozen dispersed campers easily and appears to be level. If it’s dry, I highly recommend it.

If the pond is there, or rain is forecast, here is plan B:

There are 3 spots just at the 2nd turnoff. The near corner on the left holds our 24 footer. The far corner on the left will hold a larger trailer, but beware the box of 2” nails someone scattered to the east of the firepit in that spot - tire danger (park north or west of the firepit), and the ground on this spot is soft mud in some places when wet. The north side of the old highway also has just enough turnout here for a small Class B van or passenger vehicle with no slides. None of these 3 spots are particularly level, but they are your best option if the pond is present.

There is also 1 spot a half mile farther down the old highway, at (I think) the next right, about 3’ (1m) from the intersection on the left side. This spot slants forward - the road it’s on dead ends in about 100’ (30m). The road is compacted gravelly sand, again fine for Class Cs.

Nice spot juste before Zion NP, few places with fire pit. Recommend

Report Check-In

Super spot pour la nuit, pas un bruit.

Report Check-In

Vue à 360° de certains emplacements, tout simplement magnifique comme spot

Report Check-In

Large space that seems frequently visited. We came with a jeep and parked a bit more secluded in the back that is harder to reach but there are also two big rigs in the main area. Beautiful and far reaching views.

Report Check-In

Pulled in and got through the rough road in a 22ft just fine. Have been on worse roads but it was a pretty dry time. Stopped at the T junction where the first few man made fire rings are. Went for a walk in further to find a wide area and plenty of other campers around so stayed up there the second night. Nice place with great views

Report Check-In

Nice place but really cannot go due to big wather. Anyway nice two fire place with space.
We will see in the morning, already three cars, bit known place;)

Report Check-In

Not reachable due to said lake. Only possible with 4wd (steep and rocky) from other accesses (before and after main entrance).

It seemed like a really nice area if this lake ever dries.

Report Check-In

Access road flooded to big camp site. Some more nice spots up the road.

Report Check-In

Nice open place, but due to lot of rain (small lake) not possible to reach! Parked instead in front of the camping field.
Byway #9 closed from April 9 to 30 2019 due to road works.
AT&T signal!

Report Check-In

great place. as described by other. the old highway 9 road is a bit rough to get here 2wd ok. just drive carfully on the potholes.

Report Check-In

Several spots along the old highway. Several other campers there already when we arrived so we pulled up the first spot which is a bit steep and bumpy but not unmanageable and levels out at the top. Lots of broken glass and rusty old tins so please make sure to practice no trace camping!

Report Check-In

such an amazing view and quiet, just a perfect place for few nights

Report Check-In

off highway, open space, clear enough for our tent and can confirm there is a fire pit!

Report Check-In

Nice open place with lots and lots of spots.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot. Large area with lots of room. Good fast Verizon LTE signal. Take road 71B to main camping area.

Please cleanup after yourself: properly dispose of human waste.

Report Check-In

it's perfect place, beautiful view, quite

Report Check-In

Exactly as described.
Amazing 360 stars at night

Report Check-In

Great spot higher altitude than the south entrance so much more bearable in July!

Report Check-In

Set up a tent for a night prior to exploring Zion. Great spot, nice and quiet. Fire rings, but no services. We had a slow data connection with AT&T.

Report Check-In

Stayed here two quiet nights before and after we visited the Zion NP. It's 30 km from the parkinglots at the museum and visitor center, from where you take the bus into the canyon. No facilities. Many spots and doable with any kind of car/rig/tent. Take the old "paved" street and than the second dirt path left for the open field.

Report Check-In

Up the old hiway and turn left into big open area with lots of room. Got trailer in no problem.
