Latest Check-Ins

Stayed here all night and part of the morning, BEAUTIFUL views, such a great spot. Quiet and peaceful, good service, right beside the beach. No signs saying it’s prohibited. Other vans and a bus was there at night but it was very windy so they left.

Report Check-In

Street parking close to the park and the beach. No signage restrictions but do have yellow lines on the curb for us to respect! Good cell signal and great views! Construction does start early!

As described before Beautiful spot!!! I got a great spot for the evening!!!!! as said before don't abuse the privilege. come in later and leave early!!! don't set up camp.

Report Check-In

lots of street parking options in the nye Beach district, but the beach front Vietnam walk memorial stretch is hard to beat! just as others have said, observe the yellow curb. easy beach access even a view if you get one of the prime spots. nearby day use restroom. I left during the day and played in the area and came back to this location 3 nights in a row. no problems. many others overnight in here also. Verizon 3 bars

Report Check-In

Over night parking along road infront of motel. Do not park in the yellow marked sidewalk sections. Lots of signage clearly stating where you can and can not mark. Long strip with no signs, two other campers here too currently at 10:30 pm. Busier street but seems like a good place to get some sleep. Sound of the ocean as you are right along the beach basically. Not a bad pull over spot.

Report Check-In

got the dreaded "knock" but at about noon. the officer said that any curb marked in yellow you can not park in front of but further down the road in front of the houses where it's not marked In yellow is fine

This location’s isn’t closed. There are clear instructional signage for city parking. Link to the ordinance which seems to have been misinterpreted by another user? https://newportoregon.gov/dept/adm/ordinances/2170/ord_2170.pdf

Parking in town is against city policy:

Parking of Recreational Vehicles
A. Recreational vehicles may not be parked and occupied in the right-of-way or on any public or private parking lot between the hours of 11:00 P.M. and 5:00 A.M., except in areas where camping is permitted as identified in Section 9.50.050.
(Chapter 6.25 was amended by Ordinance No. 2170, adopted on September 21, 2020; effective October 21, 2020.)

close to the beach, pretty quiet area. sound of ocean waves :)

Report Check-In

Parking lot overlooking the beach with a paved path down to the sand. Bathrooms lock at dusk. Pretty windy but good views. Several other camper vans staying the night while we were there. Parked in the same spot from 6 p.m. to 2 p.m. the next day and no one said anything to us about moving. Would definitely stop again. Decent Verizon service.

Report Check-In

Spent a night here with no issues. A few other cars camping in the lot as well. Pretty quiet aside from a few cars pulling in/out earlier in the night.

Report Check-In

We Parked in the parking lot along with a few other suvs and vans without problems. Great view to wake up to. Left around 8:45 the next morning. Saw some cars overnight along the street also.

UPDATE: back here as of Sept 2022 and parked by Performing Arts Center (see my check-in) and this area is NOT closed!

Most public/city lots here have a sign “16 hr limit in city lots”. Also, there are no “no overnight parking“ signs on residential streets here.

Here is the link to the city ordinance! https://newportoregon.gov/dept/adm/ordinances/2170/ord_2170.pdf

The ordinance is addressing homelessness issues in the city of Newport and recreational vehicle parking on private properties during special events!

Grateful for the free place to park, looking forward to the view in am. none of the free parking spots are level. but well make due. Verizon,4g 4 bars.

Report Check-In

There's a sign 16 hours time limit in all city lot, no problem to spend the night in that parking lot.

Report Check-In

Stayed just south on SW Elizabeth, before the hotels. Would recommend it, quiet night and in sight of the bathrooms and beach walk

Report Check-In

Stayed here last night. It’s a small parking lot off a fairly busy road with a spectacular ocean view. The sign says “no persons allowed between 10pm and 5am, $50 fine” but we weren’t hassled or asked to leave. Local cop drove by several times. The bathroom is closed from 10-5 as well, but does have 2 stalls and running water.

PROS: pretty close to the main drag and a short drive to most stores in Newport; waking up next to the ocean is always a great experience; trash cans and dog poop bags are provided; no one bothered us during the night; running water in the bathroom
CONS: this is a tiny parking lot with no “secluded” spots and it stays BUSY all night so lots of engine starting and doors slamming; it’s a very brightly lit area; bathrooms are closed at night and it’s technically against the rules to be here; my partner used the bathroom and came back with the following report: “they have a sharps container in the bathroom and that thing is FULL” (so probable drug use in the area?), no WiFi within walking distance which is a bummer since we’re right in town

Photo is the view we woke up to, taken from bed! Gray and stormy but beautiful.
