The "Highway" SH74 beyond Ballaban is totally unpaved with rocks everywhere.
No local people use this way. Even hard to pass with a 4x4.
Use SH75 instead!

We expected the worst and were surprised positively. The first about 15 km are a bit tricky but no problem with 4x4. The rest is easy peasy. Beautiful drive! Highly recommended!
Report Check-InReally nice track and you can go with a VW T5 4 Motion. From drive from Berrat to Gjirokaster in about 5 hours. Really good panorama track. From Buz to the end of the piste it’s getting a little bit rougher.
Report Check-InThis was probably the most beautiful drive we have done in Southern Albania. Highly recommended! No problems with a 4x4. Locals drove it with Mercedes cars, although I wonder how since 4x4 and low gear is recommended in the hours closest to Balaban. Driving time to Berat 5-6 hours at max 30 kph. Expect wondrous views and friendly locals
