Description

We were surprised that this place was not here before! Parque Lago is a National Park. Very quiet even during the Easter holliday. You are alowed to camp here for free, lots of tables and barbecue areas. Clean toilet with toilet paper and cold shower. The parking lot is big and looks good for big rigs. Energy point by the administration. A few locals playing volleyball and biking around. The park closes the gates at 18pm and there are guards during the night. Feels safe and the staff were super friendly and happy that we were there.

Access: Coming from the west you have to do a u-turn (on the highway!) about 250 m before the toll station. Take the bicycle path(!) for about 200 m to the gate of the NP.

We arrived at 4 pm but the park closes at 5 pm. As we should have paid 5 dollars entrance fee we decided not to enter. Additionally the entrance area looked quite shabby and run down. Well, we don’t recommend a visit.

NO PARKING AFTER 5PM. CLOSED!why need 40 caracters??

Report Check-In

Place closes at 5, staying for the night is NOT ALLOWED!

Report Check-In

We cycled through here and they said we were allowed to camp inside the gates. We didn’t stop but thought this would be useful information for any cyclists :)

Report Check-In

They did not let us park for the night, said they close at 5pm.

Good overnight stop on the way from /to the Peruvian border. Audible background noise from the road.

Awesome place! Free, safe, beautiful! We arrived at 10 pm and walked in through the exit to ask for permission to spend the night. A very nice guard welcomed us warmly and allowed us to park inside. He offered us the shower (it's not so cold- it's in the men's toilet). The toilets are super clean and there's toilet paper! wow! Also, there's a sink to wash the dishes. He took a picture of our IDs and made us fill in a registration form. You can stay up to 48hs. Great place to visit with kids. We were the only ones there except for two bikers who arrived in the morning to exercise. Very recommendable!!

Parking sans services, situé dans un parc. Gratuit et sécurisé par des gardes.

Great place, well maintained and lots of space to park, free and secure BUT mosquitos all over the place that were even biting though our shirts, it was too crazy, we left and went to Hotel Casablanca which was recommended by the security guard. No way we could have slept in our Land Cruiser there. Maybe only seasonal

We arrived at 8pm, the entrance gate was closed so we drove through the exit which was open. We slept there one night and left at 10am. Quiet, safe and beautifully maintained park. Great spot to stay before entering or when leaving the city. Clean bathrooms (with shower)!

Report Check-In

Very quiet place. According to everything with "vidas rodantes". Add that there is a ranger who apparently doesn't like overlanders. That's because some travelers overused the public space, for example they hanging clothes (ranger told us)

The rangers super friendly
There is a “mirador” with a lovely sunset behind the lake

It is probably a good place to stay in a Van or camper. It really didn’t work out for us in a rooftop tent as you can only sleep in the parking lots close to the lake. The place is nice, with bathrooms and showers next to the security gate. Dog friendly
