Description

A beautiful park on the Lake Charles waterfront. We parked in one of the several parking lots available in the area. There are no signs warning against overnight parking or camping. In fact, one city parking sign said parking was allowed anywhere in the city that was a "designated parking spot". No maximum number of hours was posted anywhere.
The park has flush bathrooms, electric outlets (you've got to look around for them, but they're here. They work at night when they turn the lights on), and a playground on the far South side of the waterfront (Millennium Park) for the kiddies. Close to restaurants, bars, and downtown shopping. Beautiful view across Lake Charles. Really good find for city parking.
Big Rigs won't fit. Incognito is best. We parked in our self-converted GMC Savana. Campervans and small RVs should be just fine!
No generators please.
The pictures are not exactly where we parked, but are close to several parking lots. You could also park streetside without issue.

Very nice parc. Ok for class B because the parking lots are designeted for cars. Lots of trafic at night.

Stayed one night here. Beautiful sunset and Park. Sign says no pets allowed. I asked a woman working the grounds and she clarified: no dogs are allowed on the boardwalk or in the gated playground area but are ok to be in the grassy areas of the park.
There is a little road noise (as expected due to proximity to the road) but no one bothered me and it was a restful night's sleep.

Report Check-In

Great location with a pretty lake view. Minimal traffic

Spent one night and part of the day in my minivan with no issues. Parked near the bathrooms south of the pin. Would stay here again.

beautiful free city park. very large area that accommodated our 22 foot high top van. there are some electrical outlets that if you search in the trees that are lit up, that you can plug into for small things. we charged our Bluetooth and ran an air fryer to heat up some food. not a bad view here and restrooms along the shore if this huge park. if you have kids there us a huge playground that's lit up. dog friendly and lots of activities including of course casinos.

Nice spot. We arrived around 5 PM. Calm except from few car passing roaring there engine during evening. Super calm at night. We went at the super big playground in the civic
Center earlier. Kids loved it.

Report Check-In

Civic center allows overnight parking. My Dad stays here a lot in his truck camper on opposite side by playground. His rig is painted so there is no stealth. I’ve had my dog on this side with no problem.
You have to have permission to use electrical outlets.

As mentioned, flat place, great view. Some road noise. Bathroom nearby

Report Check-In

Great stay for the night, lights on all night, but not too bright. The water wasn’t working when I was here sadly, but the bathrooms were open.

Report Check-In

When we arrived they were already 4-5 rv's. Beautiful huge park on the edge of the lake.
Just beside de road tho, so it is noisy a bit.
Restrooms and water on site.

Report Check-In

We were 3 motorhomes, class c, 25 feet with one pulling a car and others were there also. Nice place but a bit noisy with the road very near.

Report Check-In

Just wonderful we stay the night on the corner closest to the boardwalk and tucked ourselves in close to the bathroom bathrooms were nice and clean and they did get locked at sunset but they open before we even woke up and all went well filter water up at the water station felt safe all night just really nice

Veterans Memorial Park is a great place to park for overnight. I spoke with the local Sheriff's Deputy and he said that it was okay to park here all day and all night.
it is a very nice place to go for walk around the Lake. I even went into the water sprinkler park with the local children and played until I was soaked. Which was a blessing because I had been driving in the heat all day.

Report Check-In

Beautiful view. Stayed on a Saturday. Park *very busy* until 11p. Many local people enjoying the park. Quieted down after 11p. Piers all closed "for construction" according to the fencing. Too much activity for my tastes. Free

Ditto regarding the most recent update. Spent one pleasant evening here without incident. Took a morning walk along the lake. Would’ve stayed another night but we had places to be. All in all, thumbs up!

For the second or third time. So nice to stay f or a sleep.
C'est la 2e ou 3e fois qu'on passe au lac. Un très bel endroit à visiter et dormir pour la nuit. À chaque fois, on arrête.

Report Check-In

Perfect we really enjoyed very nice spot for a night..close to hwy 10 and no noise

Report Check-In

Lots of space to park. Bathrooms were closed around 8:30pm when we got in - they were still closed around 9am when we left. Safe, quiet other than some road noise. Good cell reception for Verizon. Would stay again.

Report Check-In

park is nice, has plenty of parking, good cell service, water bottle fill at drinking fountain. interesting to see what i assume is hurricane damage to the water front piers. park is right next to a decently well travelled road, so some noise even later at night.

Report Check-In

We passed through to get some work done before 10am. Very quiet and safe. Great cell phone reception and free wifi.

Report Check-In

Great spot to sleep at. No sings saying you can not overnight it. Very quite at night, no one bothered us. The restrooms are still closed and it’s 10am on a Monday, not sure why! Defiantly recommend it.

Report Check-In

Worked well for us as a quick stay overnight. Just off i10 highway. Next to lake charles war memorial. Quite a bit of damage from last storm: war memorial, the lake piers and buildings nearby. Had no issues with parking area. 2 other vans stayed overnight as well. Nice park on lake and enjoyed walking the war memorial in morning. Nice local bakery “sweets and treats” with freshly baked tea biscuits.

Report Check-In

Somewhat noisy, but otherwise no issue. Bummer they don't allow dogs. We stayed for one night in our van and had no problems. OK Verizon reception (with booster). Garbages nearby and bathrooms but they weren't open when we were there maybe because of Hurricane Laura.

Report Check-In

Great stop for one night. Nice and quiet!

Report Check-In

Busy spot and you CANNOT have animals in the park...so, if you have pets don't come here.
There's a lot of traffic here right now. If you're not super incognito I wouldn't bother.

Report Check-In

good for 1 night, lot of people partying on Wednesday. There is a huge playground and water park. The kids loved it.

Report Check-In

Good for one night at least. We found the plug outlet 30 & 50 amp but not sure we can use it. The cable would run on the walkway...

Report Check-In

Spent a Saturday night here. Some traffic/road noise but not too bad. Nice waking up next to the water. Stayed in the parking lot next to the Veteran's memorial.

Report Check-In
