Very happy and cold peanut. If you can handle the altitude (I drove from nazca today and it’s a bit unpleasant) and have a good sleeping bag, I do recommend.

Indeed a very cold night! The coldest (including Bolivia and Peru) and we are actually at the end of spring so it is supposed to get warmer, I guess this must be a very cold spot all year round. The lake shore was frozen in the morning and we had ice inside our windows, too! See picture with our cat ;)

arrived here just after dark and the track to the lake was too muddy to go through with our 2wd van.
so went to the right of the track where the noise wasn't too bad and still had the lake view

Very beautiful place, close to the main road, but still quiet. The stars at night are crazy, just a question of how long you can stare at them before freezing to the ground :)

Beautiful wild camping at the lake. It's not out of sight of the road, but as mentioned isn't the traffic strong at all. We spend a full day and night here, since the sunshine seemed to beautiful for driving 😉
Minus temperatures at night.

At 4500msnm in full route to Puquio stopped at this beautiful place where you can camp freely. Due to the extreme height makes a cold night and we woke Glitter in the kombi. In winter snows and the lake freezes.

No service and as it's a pretty desolate place should go with food supplies since no store nearby. You must now manage to use natural bath. The view of the night sky at this place is amazing.

A 4500msnm en plena ruta hacia Puquio paramos en este hermoso lugar donde se puede acampar libremente. Debido a la altura hace un frió extremo de noche y nosotros amanecimos con escarcha dentro de la kombi. En invierno nieva y el lago se congela.

No hay ningún servicio y como es un lugar bastante desolado se debe ir con provisiones de comida ya que no hay ningún almacén cerca. Nuevamente deberán ingeniárselas para usar el baño natural. La vista del cielo nocturno en este lugar es increíble.
