great free campsite. limited spaces so come early on weekends as they fill up. simple system at entrance to claim a site.

All as described by others. Three other campers and an extra bag of trash at our site. Only trash Litters!

This place is kind of way out there but it’s actually pretty cool. Camping is free and there’s OHV trails inside a free area. Spots had fire rings and picnic tables and there was a pit toilet. There’s not a ton of spots but several had lots of space.

Off the beaten path for sure. Only a couple of other campers there. We visited in our 2wd SUV and had zero issues. Quite a bit of gunfire off in the distance from hunters; otherwise very quiet.

Great free campground. Has better amenities—pit toilets, level tent sites, fire pits—than many paid sites I’ve stayed at. No water access, not great ATT service, and definitely pretty far away from Shenandoah, but worth it. Stayed 3 nights; there were lots of sites available when we got there

Free Forrest service run campground with one pit toilet and no cel service with T-Mobile

We camped here with our van on a Sunday night. There were a few other ppl, several ATV groups coming. We biked from the campsite up to the Woodstock lookout tower. It was a nice gentle uphill on the road around 3 miles RT. We saw 1 put toilet at campsite and we had little to no Verizon signal in the campsite.

Awesome spot- the pit toilet was clean and there were even wet wipes in it. We came in early on a Friday n stayed until Monday. It seemed to fill up that first night and is first come first served. Honestly the nicest free campground I’ve been to. You do need to pay for OHV access- I think that’s why the campground is so nice.

Great free campground. It is quite a ways off the highway, but good for some peace and quiet. Only one other campsite was taken when we arrived on a Wednesday. There is a pit toilet and single garbage can. No cell phone service.

Lovely area! the campsites are simple but well maintained. My only complaint would be the amount of trash left by previous campers. Please pack your trash out!

Site had 2 pitches remaining mid afternoon. One caravan with noisy generator but OK overnight.

Camp is empty today but beautiful. Using cell booster but verizon signal almost non existant.

great little spot! only thing that took away from the experience was the amount of litter on the ground and in the fire pit. Just left the site better than when i arrived.

Great location and camp. Two spots were occupied by “long term” campers. Nice hiking trail up ridge behind camp separate from ATV trails.

Report Check-In

Nice little ring of campsites. I think there were 12. No fees. Just turn over the disc on the board when you “check-in” and turn it back over when you leave. Location is perfect for accessing Peters Mill Run OHV trail and we heard vehicles running the trail past the campsites late into the night.

Campsites are fairly spread out but you can definitely hear the people at the neighboring sites. There is a pit toilet but that is about it.

Really nice area back on dirt roads. was quite except for a guy and his guitar. Pit toilet is standard but door was broken (didn't lock). Nice flat spots for a tent and enough room for good size truck. Overall good place to stay.
