Very nice area, some individual sites and some large open areas to accommodate many campers. I was lucky to get an individual site. The open areas were very packed with locals over the holiday weekend. No one bothered me & I enjoyed several days here. There are many sites all around the lake so you may want to drive around a bit to scope out the best one for you. A few pit toilets around the lake too. Good TMobile.

Great, free, Lakeside camping. There are many entrance roads to get to the different campsites that's around this lake. Pretty windy but there is plenty of shade. MULTIPLE ENTRANCES - if you go to far you pass the lake. Plenty of spots around lake

GPS loc is the small "island", as described.

Alternative island: From the GPS loc begin to exit. Take the first right. Then, take the first right onto an unofficial track. If you see the spacious official site with a grove of spaced out pine then you've gone too far. However, the unofficial track can be easily scouted from the back of this site.

Continue about 1/8th mile down the track to a much larger "island" with a much better view. Photo from back of site looking at track and big "island".

Great, free, Lakeside camping. There are many entrance roads to get to the different campsites that’s around this lake. You can even make your way all the way around and camp on an island in the middle of the lake. Nice and breezy, but the mosquitoes came out after the wind stopped. Two bars of Verizon.

Nice area to camp. There’s a few different entrances and areas to camp. Pit toilet near each and some fire rings. Birds all over and it was dead when I was here not one other person. Great att service

great spot close to 94. besides the road noise this would be an ideal spot! good for any size rig, clean pit/vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. 10 miles of shoreline with a lake filled with fish. we stayed 3 nights and would stop again if in the area.

Nice place and easy to find off 39th Ave exit. GPS coordinates tried to take me to a completely different place 2 exits away. Arrived at 8:30 pm and drove around a bit. Didn’t come across any other campers.

Great area for a quick rest or even a hang out. We got in when it was dark, about 9:30, and followed the signs to the boat ramp. On the left was Picnic Pavilion 2. We parked there and it was right next to the toilets. We were up and out but the sunrise over the lake was gorgeous.

On the west side of the lake. Grassy area, picnic table, fire ring. Under power lines but on the water. A few other campers nearby but overall quiet except for mild highway sounds. We didn’t see any pit toilets on the west side.

Beautiful lake with several free camping areas. Some right on the water, some a little up above. Lots of geese and pelicans. Boat ramps. Toilets. Quite and beautiful sunsets. No electric. Some pavilions .. shade or no shade.

WoW!!! Quel beau spot pour arrêter une nuit. Grande tranquillité et wildlife incomparable. Nous sommes en VR et nous tirons notre voiture, très facile à se stationner sans rien défaire. Un bijou.

Parked at the second entrance after getting off 94. Great att reception. Very quite and secluded. Very windy

Couple miles off I94 along a pretty reservoir filled with reeds and ducks. Many sites with picnic table and fire rings. Some trees for shade. Good breeze across the water helping to keep it cooler on a very hot summer day. Fantastic Verizon and AT&T. Under the power lines on a small peninsula jutting into the reservoir. Mostly quiet, though there is a little road noise from the interstate. Very nice that it's legal and free.

this place was so nice. the campsites were on this little peninsula with the lake on all sides. there was a big power line tower there but it was no bother. there were pit toilets and the most amazing constant breeze/wind coming off the water. it was a much needed cool relief from the heat, as we were coming off one of the triple digit heat waves. it was easy access from the highway and Bismarck was about 30 minutes away. we spent 2 nights. also the person who mentioned pelicans was absolutely correct they are everywhere and so cool to look at!

This is a really great I94 stop, easy access from the highway with really nice spots on the lake. Came in Friday night and it was mostly full but still found a good spot.

What a beautiful spot. Midweek June 2021, virtually the only ones here, save for the PELICANS, geese, ducks, and assorted others.others. .otherswonderfulbreeze brbreeze

Perfect camping. Nice and cool and quiet. Minimal bugs. Got a level spot right on the water.

This is a great spot. Camp most anywhere around the lake, but the peninsula is farthest from the highway. No one but us, the owls, geese, ducks. Took a walk and ate dinner at the picnic table. Perfect stop off.

Great location, many spots and all are well spaced out around the whole lake. 3 bars on Verizon (Spectrum Mobile)

nice shades area with lots of sun too. Relatively quiet, about a mile from the freeway.
Facilities are clean and easy to use.

Great spot. Free! A few different camping spots available and suitable for big rigs. Definitely approach from the west though, not the east. The east route will take you on a rutted and muddy dirt road that is impassable for 2wd. West route is over almost the whole way and the dirt road section is well cared for with only a little washboard. Lovely views of the lake.

Great quiet spot. Stayed for 2 nights. Maximum stay is 10 days. There are quite a few spots here, not just the one pinned. Nice breezes to keep the bugs away and keep us cool without running the air conditioner.

Awesome campsite! Great view over the water. Drop toilet was clean and stocked with toilet paper. Highly recommended campsite!

Free, legal lakeside camping on state lands just off the freeway. Roads are dirt with muddy spots and mild washboarding. I found a site near a pit toilet. Fire rings installed, but "no campfires" signs posted.
