Dispersed camping in the NF, full of big pines and lots of shade. Maybe about 20 sites along the road, they get steeper and less level as you go North. The highway is quiet at night, about 6500’ elevation so a lot cooler than the desert offerings. Well used but fairly clean and no problems at night.

Road is closed as of end of February. Impassable. Across the road is an iOverlander spot that the road looks open but muddy. Did not attempt.
Report Check-InJust as described. We drove up a little past this pullout to another one. Not many of the spots are level but we made do with our levelers. Beautiful and peaceful. Two bars with Verizon. A bit bumpy on the way up and down.
Report Check-InThe road is very rocky at the highway exit but improves as you go. A very popular area with tons of sites of all sizes. Many level, some not. Beautiful pines and oaks. Much more privacy than the campgrounds across the highway, but close enough to easily hear and see other campers (and socialize, if you want). If you prefer solitude, this isn't it unless you come during the week in the off season.

Report Check-In535. Stayed here for about a week, cooler and quieter than down in Sedona, but definitely started to get busy on the weekend. On an incline so we were a little worried our tents would get wet but thankfully we were spared. Our neighbors got muddy though. Some spots looked like they needed 4wd but we were ok without and with low clearance. Watch the first bump and when setting up look out for where the water might flow because when it flows,It flows!
Report Check-InNice spot to stay on the way from Flagstaff to Sedona. I stayed up after the second switchback in rwd extended Ford Transit, the road is pretty good. The worst part of the road is right after you cross the cattle gate and get onto the dirt road. Service was in and out on ATT. Some ohv/atv traffic on the road but the noise/frequency wasn't that bad (my spot was 20ft off the main road). I also heard gunshots a couple times but it sounded pretty far away.

Report Check-InTried to come here. Road was closed. All forest roads in flagstaff were closed. South of the city had large closure gates that you couldn’t get by. North of the city had small signs you could drive past. Didn’t get a knock, stayed one night north. No ATT service though.
Report Check-InThey close if the weather is too bad but as of now it is open. Some muddy patches that make you slide around a little due to melting snow. A little difficult to get level.

Report Check-InComing in at night, most sites seem really steep. We found a level place to sleep in our car, though in mud. In daylight, we saw many more with pine floors. Beautiful forest. Road pretty rocky; we were fine in small SUV. Windy. Lots of forest for dog to explore.
Report Check-InMostly cars with tents. Need higher clearance on several of the pull offs but there are some you can get into with decent clearance.
Report Check-InWonderful. It is 535. It is well marked with exit lanes both directions. We even had our choice of spots arriving a Saturday late afternoon in July.

Report Check-InPlenty of spots available, many of them are not level though. 20 minutes from downtown Flagstaff. Verizon and AT&T coverage. Road is in good shape.
Report Check-InWe didn’t drive far up this road as found a nice spot pretty quickly, but cars, vans and RVS were driving up through the night so think there must be loads of spots here! Really nice free spot to have a campfire!
