Description

Great free CG next to Yellowstone River. Tall trees, grassy, picnic tables, fire rings. Very busy in summer, but over 50 spots, so probably not full most days.

Nice place by the Yellowstone, dry camping no hookups. Portapotties
at the entrance, no dump station or water. Gravel roads, some drive through traffic, kids with nothing to do. Our second time here in 3 years, price is right, we donated $10 . Would stay again.

Great place to camp in Columbia. Close to stores, gas and the Yellowstone River. Lots of RVs here, nothing sketchy about the clientele here, just folks enjoying the scenery and free camping. Need to be self-contained.

Report Check-In

Free cIty owned campground in Columbus MT. Right next to Yellowstone River. Looks like the river has overflowed its banks in places. Port a potties there, quiet.

Report Check-In

level spots near river, quiet overnight. some room for big rigs

Report Check-In

In both parts of the park about 8 spots taken-all from obviously homeless people. Nice from the town that they can live here, we didn’t like the atmosphere, left and went somewhere else. Beside that, nice places (both parts).

Oh, and as a heads-up, no running water or toilet during the winter, though there is a porta-potty.

Report Check-In

Nice place to camp, even in winter. Ice and snow covering many but not all spots. Very quiet, a bit of train noise now and then but not too bad, and aside from one other camper we saw maybe four people come through the two days we stayed there, all just walking their dogs. Highly recommend if you're passing through looking to stop for a night or two.

Spent one night here, came in at dusk and only one spot left, but there is a lot of open space not setup as a camping spot. Mens bathroom only had the toilet working.

Report Check-In

pulled in there where at least 4 to 6 spots open . with picnic tables and fire 🔥 rings.
some folks just pulled there trailers in the middle and made there own spot. but pretty quiet. saw police go bye a lot. awesome river.

Stayed one night. First area open but back area closed. Did have some flooding from the Yellowstone river a month ago but is cleaned up & in good shape. Was about half full of campers. Will stop in again on our way through. Leave donations to help cover costs of upkeep.

Report Check-In

Drove by here today intending to stay, but the entrance was blocked off and there was a sign saying the park was closed. Not sure why or for how long. Potentially due to the condition of the river at the moment.

Report Check-In

Nice park with plenty of empty sites. Flush toilets but very well used. Fesh water on site at back of toilet building. Several longer term residents but seems peaceful.

Report Check-In

Free with water flush toilets, firewood, picnic tables, shelter, dumpster. 50 or more sites Big cottonwood trees on the banks of the Yellowstone River. Donations appreciated. Bathrooms in tough shape seen a lot of wear, appears to be some long timers here. Sees a lot more use in summer, and more now than ever in the past.

Report Check-In

Great city run campsite right on the Yellowstone River. No hookups, but water available. Designated campsites but arrive somewhat early. They fill up during late afternoon.

Report Check-In

Easy access, clean and convenient. The marked sites are easy to get to and close if not right on the river.

This is a great park! Large sites and roads. Our 40’ plus 25’ trailer got in here no problem. Cool rainy day but roads were gravel and not too messy. Such a great stop off place!

Nice out of the way spot near the river just leave a donation to help keep it open and free

An oasis in the middle of town. Most sites were full, but we made do with what we thought was a site. worked well for us.

Report Check-In

You can stay here for ten days. We had can chores so we stayed the whole ten. We're here over Labor Day weekend. It got packed but every day over the holiday I saw at least one open spot. The next weekend it filled up again but there were still spots available.

Despite the many campers it was pretty quite although there is a train that runs through town often.

Short walk to town to library, groceries, and post office. It was a perfect spot for us to regroup before we moved on.

Report Check-In

Still donation only (there's a column shaped box near men's bathroom). You can get a spot alone or right up against another if you wish. It was not super busy on a Friday but could get full on weekend. Good cell reception. TP in bathrooms as well as soap.

Report Check-In

Free with donation. Wood available at Ace or IGA just down the street. Will fill up to be sure, but if you’re in a van there’s spaces around without fire ring.

Hello
So great place to spend the night.
We found a place at 05.00 PM but it was one of the last one.
The only problem is the people who take the dirty road a litlle bit fast and make some much dust..
Try to find a place wich is not near the main dirt road...and look from where come the wind....it can help you!
Thank for this place.

Labor day weekend and the place is pretty full but we found a spot along the river in the campground. Good place to stop for the night. free camping but takes donations.

There are two campgrounds, both connected (once you drove through the first one and alongside the golf court, you reach more lots: see second entry in I-Overlander). The first campground offers a large loop with many sites. Nice old trees, fire pits and picknick tables. There is a toilet block w/ running water, soap etc. Free, but donations welcome if you would like to thank the volunteers that keep this place maintained.

Report Check-In

Nice grassy campground by the Yellowstone River. free as describes, but donations are accepted. There was plenty of firewood, and even a pile for the campers to use. Unfortunately it was kind of a mess; seems like it could be a party spot on weekends. restrooms were dirty, but well stocked. Great AT&T and Verizon service.
