Description

Wanted to come to Bijagua to see sloths! It was difficult to find a place to camp with facilities but we met Jose who had a large area to camp/Park and will take bigger campers as well! He is welcoming to overlanders and will probably charge $5000 colones per night (still figuring it out). He gave us a free hiking tour of his property in the morning where we saw 3 sloths, several frogs, and lots of birds!

There is a covered common area that he is still working on but has bathrooms and faucet. Still working on a shower and kitchen area but he also rents a cabana that he will let you use the shower with hot water if no one is staying there. Has average WiFi in the common area. Electrical hookup seems possible.

Report Check-In

Place to camp on grassy field behind cabanas and resto. Good food and average WiFi in the restaurant and quiet when the resto is closed around midnight. A bit expensive.9

Report Check-In

We have been able to park our 4x4 with the roof tent on the grass field behind the lodges. We have accessed to the bathroom of one of the non rented apartments so hot water and clean shower and bathroom. We also tried the food the restaurant suggested, very good!
We paid 11000 colones for 2 people. Very good location to go to Rio Celeste the next morning!

Beautiful and peaceful location. We stayed two nights and even saw a sloth as we walked around the property. We were able to shower with hot water and use the restroom. Our three dogs were happily welcomed and there are two very friendly dogs that live here as well. Wifi available.

Report Check-In

We were warmly welcomed by Ignacio who offered us to stay below the restaurant on the grass field. He gave us access to the apartment next to the field so we could use it’s bathroom with hot shower. Dinner in the restaurant was good (starter and main course). One side note is that the music of the restaurant can be heard from the field below, which could be troubling for those that want to sleep early. Total price for two people with a rig was $20.- per night, including a 30 min sloth tour (you have to ask for it on arrival).

Ignacio gave us a very warm welcome. We parked our car with roof top tent on a plane ground covered with well cut grass. We were allowed to use the bathroom of a little flat right near our car. WIFI was good near the restaurant (in construction at the moment but to be finished until March 2019). No Movistar signal.
Electricity was available by extension cord; we used it for our electric fridge.
In the morning, Ignacio made a little tour with us about 1h duration, showing the property and we saw sloths. He charged 12000 CRC incl tour. Highly recommended quiet place.
