Panama
Raquel Frame, who lives in this house has opened an animal sanctuary on her Really small property to try to save as many animals as she is able to. The locals already know her and bring her animals that are in need of help, animals that are run over by cars, animals mistreated by people or illegally kept in captivity. She keeps accepting them... That being so, and under these circumstances, this will be an opportunity and a privilege of life to have a real and close contact with several animals, not to satisfy our touristy ego, but because they are within a rescue protocol program. If the animals do not meet the necessary requirements to be released into the wild you can even pick some of them up in your arms. We might not agree with all that we see there but it's a fact that she tries to do the best she can and knows. https://www.aboveusonlyskies.com/things-to-do-volcan-panama/
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Little place with some permanent monkeys ( squirrel, capucin and kinkajou). Raquel love those animals. She take care of them. Many monkeys left this place yesterday for a natural reserve. So she try to give chance to animal to be wild again. So you can see animals very close but depending what she has at the moment. Our children love it.
Report Check-InA small basic rescue at Raquel's house. She does her best at providing lots of love and care to poached/mistreated/injured native animals but unfortunately most of these animals can't be released back into the wild and the jaguar enclosure lacks in size and enrichment, coatimundies breed in captivity. Asked donation was $20 for 2 people, we didn't stay o/n but she said overlanders can park on the street overnight $10 pp (includes use of toilet and bath with breakfast)
Report Check-InA restroom was added for campers and visitors to use. Laundry is available to wash clothes
Report Check-InGreat place to see rescued wild animals from very close. Raquel loves her animals and looks after them like they are her children. No entrance fee, but please donate something to help her, she doesn’t get any money from the government. You can play with baby monkeys and you can see a jaguar from very close. Very recommended!
She said to us that she also welcomes overlanders, you can stay in the car at front, and use the bathroom for tourists.
Great place to see and interact with native animals of Panama. You can camp out in the yard and listen to a Jaguar at night.
Report Check-InThe lady who lives in this house has opened an animal sanctuary on her small property to try to save as many animals she does everything she can. The locals already know her and bring her animals that are in need of help, animals that are run over by cars, animals mistreated by people. She keeps accepting them... According to the information she provides, the animals are released as soon as possible into wilderness. That being so, and under these circumstances, this will be an opportunity and a privilege of life to have a real and close contact with several animals, not to satisfy our touristy ego, but because they are within a rescue protocol program. You will be able to see them at a distance of a very few feets, (baby) sloths, (baby) monkeys, including a jaguar… If the animals do not meet the necessary requirements to be released into the wild you can even pick some of them up in your arms. We might not agree with all that we see there but it's a fact that she tries to do the best she can and knows.
