Something not right?

Description

You couldn't imagine a better view. Located on the shores of the turquoise lagoon. The campsite was used by several campers. Right at the lake there are two natural thermal spring pools. When we were there it was very windy, but at night not as cold as expected (0 ° C). We drove there directly from the Argentinian / Chilean border without having done the border formalities for Chile. But it was not a problem, you can also do it a day later.

User reports"the road is being rebuilt so the entrance to the place is located approximately 300m toward Argentinian border, right side when coming from Argentina to Chile, well indicated by a small banner on the main road. There was nobody there on October 18, 2018 "

At the edge of the Laguna Verde there is room for motorhomes or tents. There is also a free refuge in which there is a pool of thermal water. Totally free. The landscape is beautiful. There are also outdoor thermal pools. Attention the same night in summer the such can go below zero.

Such a nice place. And when we were there end of april there was absolutely nobody else from 10:00 - 12:00 in the morning!

The thermal ponds are great to chill in even if it‘s almost 0 outside. And its free!

More wild camping than established campsite. You can stay on the shore of the lagoon, it is a bit hidden from the wind. Lot of people - mountain expeditions. One Toi toi toilet. Two outside termal pools and one inside the refugio. Everything for free. No signal, it is doable with rooftent but thanks to the wind very noisy, so we didn't sleep much (probably also because of high attitude). Amazing view 🤩

Report Check-In

Couldn’t reach the hot springs coming from Copiapo as the border post 90 km before the hot springs is closed at the moment.

A couple of shallow "pools" to speak in, we did not though. The morning sun is blocked by hills, so to get the earliest sun go to the far side of the camping area. Lots of wind in the afternoon, and the Laguna lake color is best in late afternoon.

Report Check-In

Great place. We've been told there is usually more wind in the evening. Different lake colors in the morning. Refugio not very welcoming to sleep in.
Fine to sleep here without doing the paperwork to Argentina if you ask the carabineros but need to check out the next day.
ALTITUDE! The lake is above 4400m. Don't come up to sleep straight after copiapo or see level. Even with good acclimatization the whole month before and just a few days at see level we suffered from altitude and had little sleep.

Great place to stay for the nightWith a lot of wind

Report Check-In

There is a little refugio - a hut with two beds, old mattresses and an indoor pool. A good place to stay inside on a blistering cold night if border crossing took you longer than expected. The water in the pool is quite warm but a little bit salty.
Spectacular sundown!

beautiful view on the Laguna. On the afternoon the wind is strong but there is clean refuge with hot pool, bed, ... A good place for a night

Report Check-In

Great place for a dip, warm enough, gets rid of the altitude sickness. getting out is horrible. lake is very salty and cold

Report Check-In

thougt they were hot enough. perfect just to stay as long as you want and nor freeze neither get dizzy. definitely above 30ºC.

Report Check-In

Very beautiful spot, but the hot springs are very luke-warm. We stopped on our way between the borders but not overnight. Potentially a great overnight camp if the wind dies down. There is a primitive long-drop toilet there, but no other facilities.
