Description

A beautiful campground that is charmingly integrated into the forest at the shore. The sites are big enough to have a fantastic view of the turquoise lagoon and they are all equipped with benches, a table and a fire pit. The camping area has a small shop where you can buy firewood. There are several pit toilets in the area and a bathroom with two flush toilets and two showers (On weekends, there are additional charges). From the campground, you can do a two-hour hike to the waterfall Chaquiras.

Beautiful campsite next to the upper Epulaufquen lagoon. In season it has basic supplies, bathrooms with showers. $1000 per person per night. $500 a shower. You can make a fire in designated places but you cannot remove firewood since it is a protected area. very quiet these days. no signal and no electricity. The road up to here is passable. In certain parts you have to go a little slower but you get there calmly. It is worth the trip if one is looking for tranquility. In high season I understand that quite a few people come on weekends.

We arrived to the gendarmery, they told us, because of Pandemia, you have to ask the Oveja Tourism Office for permission. They do not want many people in the lagoons. I think if you go in weekdays they let you pass.

we really enjoyed the tranquil and wonderful scenery with the mountains and the lakes!
we also did the hiking to the waterfalls and the lagoon negra, watch out for the signs and stones, they are sometimes not easy to see ;-)

we paid 80 pesos p.p

Very busy in January. Most sites were taken. The best choice is by the lakes edge although this does mean everyone in and out drives past your camp. The toilets were not so clean but functional and there is a great 5 hour return walk by the lake edge up to some cascades. Worth the drive if for nothing else than the views across Lago Superior to the mountains.
