Chile
The parking area is located directly at the beginning of forest, with a great view towards Volcán Llaima. Visible from the road but quiet during night. The visitor center and the toilets nearby are not maintained anymore.
The northern park entrance is located some kilometres to the northeast.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We met 2 other couples traveling with tents. Beautiful, quiet, flat spaces. Access road in bad state but ok with a van. They are working on it.

Report Check-InReally nice spot to camp. Actually 25 November 2017, the road that cross the park is closed because there is a lot of snow on the track. We have to stop here but we can enjoy the beautiful landscapes and do some really nice trekking. At the moment we haven't payed the park entrance , probably due to the road closed.
Report Check-InWe arrived late and where told we can stay here. We had a great quiet night in front of the beautiful volcano. The park rangers told us that the roads where OK so we decided to cross the park although with our big motorhome (7.5 m). The road apparently had just been improved/scraped. We were told that it was not always in such a good shape.
Report Check-Inparking lot near Laguna Captren. about 800 meters after the entrence gate. no tents but we park our van on the parking lot next to the lake and the ranger said we can sleep in it. Note: as of Nov 2016 the road to the other side of the park is ONLY 4X4. just after the lake there is damage to the road and even if you get passed the 1st set of trenches you will have to turn around at the next ones. we saw two cars that tried and could not make it. luckly for them they were short enough to turn around. with our van we are not even going to try.
Report Check-InWhen we arrived at the park it was rainy and overcast with thick clouds. Therefore, we did not know if it was worth visiting the park (4,500 chil. Pesos / person entrance fee). We were allowed to camp for free at the Visitor Center next to the entrance. Restrooms are at the Visitor Center or in the park.
In the park itself, at Lake Conguillío there is one of the most beautiful campgrounds we have seen in Chile (20,000 chil. Peso ~ 31,70 Euros). Beautiful hiking trails in the park.
