Description

The entrance to the park is free. This is certainly not the most spectacular National Park in Argentina, but for us it was one of the most beautiful. No facilities on site, but very good and clean toilets. 16 km at the Visitor Center Onelli. The 2.5-hour hike to Laguna Pescado, which starts from the parking lot, is very nice.

We did the shorter loop in 2.5 hours. Beautiful hike, nobody else on the trail. Now in February most of the lagunas were dry. If you don't have time to do the entire hike, go 40 minutes in any direction and you will get the gist of it.

Great hike of 8km (small one). Make sure you also have warm clothes, it snowed in Jan!
The ranger told us, that we could overnight here as well, but because of the wind we didn‘t chose to.

Now it is allowed to camp here in your vehicle. There is a clean toilet and access to the beautiful beach. This lake is absolutely amazing! Also worth visiting the perfect equipped free refugios (which is more like a cabaña). We recommend the refugio Archipiélago. 3km from here.

Don’t care if you can stay over nignt on the parking lot or not. Leave your vehicle on the parking lot and take all you need to eat and sleep and go to the new cosy refugio at around 400 meters from the parking lot, on the way to laguna pescado. We spent two nights there complitely alone just in front the flashy blue lake. A small piece Of paradise !

There are 2 hikes you can do in the Peninsula Belgrano. Lago Pescado (8-9 km loop hike) and a 18 km hike outer loop along with mainly views of the lake and surrounding mountains. We did Laguna Pescado a very nice short hike with nice views. Make sure to keep on the trail to your right otherwise you’ll end up inadvertently doing on the much longer loop. Stay on the trail to your right. There’s a very nice little refugio you can stay overnight (free) about 1km down the trail.

APOLOGIES THIS IS ABOUT 500M FROM THE CORRECT LOCATION. A new Refugio is available (no booking required) about 500m down the path from the parking lot. It looks just perfect and the views are amazing. 3 people had stayed when we dropped by.

We were allowed to stay one night there with our truck. The hike over the peninsula is fantastic, because the views are changing all the time. The panorama from Cerro Leon is breathtaking, but we liked the loop to Laguna Pescado even more!

The ranger told us that overnight stops are no longer permitted here or anywhere else in the park other than Lago Burmeister and the El Rincon ranger's office. But this is a great spot to park up for the day, enjoy the hikes on the peninsula and views of the lake.
