Ecuador
We arrived in pouring rain and in thick fog at the Hosteria and parked our vehicle in the large car park. At dusk, someone came by and asked what we were doing here. As we asked if we could camp for the night in the parking lot this was agreed without any problems. In the gold mining town of Zaruma. Better park the car outside of the historic center as there are very narrow and steep roads.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Seven years later this place gets a new check in....still standing....parking still there...same name. We tried to ask for the parking permission but could not find anybody around (low season)...nice place if you need a room. We met a local truck driver who also just parked his mid size rig. The parking is gravel and a bit of grass...no dogs around...quiet night. All roads paved so perfect for a little detour on the way to Zaruma
