Honduras
Great campspot in a small pine forest in the equestrian and recreation park. Small zoo with sheep, deer, tapir, parrots and macaws right next to the site. Clean toilets and cold showers. Small pool. Very good restaurant with Honduran specialties. Mila, the Czech owner (?) let us camp for free but thought a tip of 100 Lempira for the night guardian was as appropriate. Good base to visit the La Tigra National Park and the old mining town of Santa Lucia.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Made the side trip to come up here and it was a beautiful drive, a pretty area
BUT
Due to Holy Week, they declined to let us camp there after taking our money and saying yes.
Of course the have the money back and we’re surprised that we wanted to leave. We had to explain that without being allowed to camp there, we needed to find a place to stay.
The poor staff felt bad for us.
Nice area, seemed like a nice park. Just to bad and weird that we not able to stay when they normally allow campers.
when we asked about camping in their parking lot the people we talked to said this was not possible
Report Check-InWent there today hoping to find an affordable spot for my motorbike and my tiny little tent. The lady from the administration asked for 400L. Tried to get her down to a more realistic price but negotiating was impossible... So I left... Besides from this the place looks quite like as described above...
Report Check-InStill 400L, good wifi, electricity and the food at the restaurant is good but rather expensive (meals starting from 150 L up to 400L). We camped there with our tent and car.
Report Check-InStill accept campers, price is 400L for two people and one car (quite expensive for what you get). Place is OK, flat ground, toilets relatively clean (no shower!) and is at walking distance from town. Wifi available: password is laflorida10003. Bring earplugs cause the animals make a lot of noise.
