Something not right?

Description

At marker 4661 on the left side there are 10 or more wild campsites on BLM/USFS lands with firepits. They all have a stunning overlook of Moab and the canyons below. Its much cooler and secluded in the mountains than other sites. When I was there only one night out of three did I see one other person. The only drawback is that it is further away from the parks than some campsites. The road is paved up to the campsites dirt road. This can be navigated without 4x4 but having a little clearance would be good. There are some rocks. Also I did get cell service with internet

Beautiful spot. Somewhat wind-sheltered by shrubby trees, very secluded private feel. The spots I drove past (and the one I used) are rocky, car-sized pads with fire pits. I think my site had a dirt patch for a medium tent further in but I didn't really investigate. Made a hundred feet in or so with a 6" clearance vehicle. Drive carefully if you don't have high clearance.

Free. Good spot, with fire rings. Driving into the spot can be tough for two wheels. Many ruts and rocks that make pathing tough. I wasn't able to get further into to see the alternate sites, ended up taking the one next to the road. Cell service is spotty.

Nice place to camp near Moab, we have stopped to the place where we can see the beautiful landscape on the cliff and mountains. The track is bumpy and high clearance car is mandatory.

Beautiful looking over the cliff and La Sal mountain area. It’s BLM so okay to camp here. We got in mid way with our front wheel drive Ford Fiesta. We did coke here in dry season however. Just go SLOW. Totally worth it and would be great for group camping. Rock fire pits. Bring lots of water.

Awesome place. Some campground along the cliff. High clearance resquested but we did it with the van… touched some rocks but still ok.

Many sites down this road. No camping within 4 miles of the highway and there are a lot of signs stating such. Very obvious once you get into the National Forest and after that camping is permitted. We went past the pin as this one had several other overlanders at it. No cell service on ATT the further back you go.

Great place to camp near Moab that is much cooler in temperatures than down by Moab. Road is a little rough but not bad at all.

The most beautiful campsite I’ve ever had. Had to take a gnarly road to get here, definitely needed high clearance. There are several campsites, but one in particular has an incredible view down to Moab, especially at sunset. If that site is taken, park and walk to the end of the track, there is a fence with a gate, you can walk out to the overlook there too.

Good secluded mountain view spots, would not recommend at all for 2WD... we did it in ours but the rocks on the dirt path are treacherous and potentially not worth it if it flat tires, which is a good possibility.

Report Check-In

Keep driving down dirt road for great camp sites.

Good directions provided, no facilities, numerous dispersed spots, road is rough, hi clearance reqd, limited Verizon signal. Quiet, beautiful views of La Sal mtns

I slept there for 2 nights and it's one of the best spots I went. I drove with my pathfinder to the end of the driveway in front of the fence. It's definitely Offroad, so do it with high clearance and 4x4. The best is the awesome few :)

you need to drive long way uphill on the main road before reaching the campsite. high clearance necessary as there are some rocks and dips. site is 50m off the HWY

Camping along La Sal Mountain Loop in Manti-La Sal National Forest only 15 miles from Moab. Quiet, fresh mountain air, nice view of the La Sals.
