We stayed here two nights, $200 per night for our vehicle, camping. No internet, but use of showers and toilets is included. Go to the back lot at the restaurant and then if you park right you have all the privacy even over the crowded weekends. Beautiful view from restaurant area. Bathrooms there were generally cleaner than in recreation area. Shower is only working on men’s side, but they opened it for us and we could both take a warm shower (quite dirty, but ok). Very nice people and we hiked all around to Volcán Parícutín and to the church ruins, which made for a long day, but pretty cool!

As described: 100 pesos pp, toilet and shower. very nice view over the Valley, you can see the vulcan and church. and go there it is very much worth it! We go by horse, 2 hours to the vulcan, climb by foot the mountain 1 hour, go back and visit the church 2 hours. 150 pesos pp for a wonderfull trip and 150 for the guide.

today is Saturday afternoon 03:00 p.m.
as we arrived with our 7 meter motorhome. the gard said the place is closed because of a private group. but we saw only a few cars inside. so we disided to stay 100 meter in front of the gate at the left side in an estacionamiento for 100 peso/two and the camper (photo on the left estaciamiento)

after 2 hours the gard came and told us, now its free. no way!

So you have more possibilities to stay!

We paid 100 pesos per person. You have to ask for showers in cabana.
Trip to the volcano with horses cost 500 pesos per horse plus one extra horse (another 500 pesos) for the guide. It was quite expesive but worth of it.
Kids really enjoyed the playground.

Nice place to visit the church. Overnight is possible. We get a horse trip to the vulcano and the church. Amazing

Tried first to reach the lava church by car and got stuck by locked gate. So entered here followed by Enrique,guide,on horseback. We are the only ones, restaurant is closed and payed 200 p. for 2. Village is amazing with women in traditional clothes and horses in the unpaved, coble streets. The real Mexico

price has doubled to 100 pesos pp. for a truck with camper.
still have to request a shower. so far two different shower locations. One very bad, the other better in a cabana. Ask for Antonio. He got us the nicer shower.
There are two entries for the same location with two different names.

Nice and clean area. We were the only campers there. 60/pesos per person for tent camping. 24 hour guards and restrooms. Street dogs were barking quite loud at times during the night, but otherwise nice stay. Decent breakfast in the morning at the on-site restaurant. 45 minute hike to the ruins.

Overnight parking at Centro Turistico de Angahuan with hot showers on request, toilets and restaurant. Lots of space, clean and quiet on a Thursday evening. You can hike to the burried Iglesia de San Juan Parangaricutiro (ca 2,5 km one way) or ride on horseback (300 Peso p.P.) with a guide (500 Peso) to the church and "Collima" - a small hill with a closer view of Paricutin volcano.

We stayed 2 nights. Great panorama view on the volcano. Especialy sunset! Safe and no worries about tours because they come to you for offering tours. By foot 800pesso but we took horses 1200pesso for two people private tour. 14km by horse to foot of Paricutin volcano and 1hour steep! up. Great day we had!

Was charged 60 pesos pp for one night. Took horses to Colima for 700pesos. Trip to volcano was 400pp plus 400for guide.

Could have easily walked to church ruins and probably La Colima as well with Maps.me

As described, we slept one night the tourist center and hired a guide and horses to get to « la Colina » where you have a nice view of the volcano and go by the church but in less time then the ride to the volcano. We did it with our 4 and 9 years old with no problem. Took about 4 hours.

Place was busy and nice but it's New Years. Surprisingly quiet at night. We had planned to stay for 3 nights but after we returned from a walk to the ruins on our first morning we were told that they are full and we'd have to go. So while we had already established our camp at one of the palapas they gave our space to a large family (more money) they then said we could stay in the parking lot behind the laundry at full price. We told them to pound sand and went to the free camping at the volcano. Super cheesed about the whole thing, don't go to this place on any sort of holiday when they have the opportunity to collect a few more $ from large families. Otherwise I'm sure a decent place to stay.

We stayed here 3 nights, 50p/person/night. The first night wasn’t good, very noisy because there was a kind of internship organized with students and they were in a party mood, the second was ok and we were just the 2 of us for the last one. The gate close at 10pm, and we felt very safe. We went to the volcano without a guide, just with maps.me and the white signs on the lava field. We made the 20km in 7h30, but we have to admit that we searched our way a few times. Taking a guide could be easier if you don’t wanna search your way and just enjoy the volcano. Ask for the shower, it was the best one in a while for us !

Con's:
- Locals get grumpy and unfriendly when they can not sell you a horse ride or guided tour
- if you do not want a party next to you, do not come during the weekend or around holidays, gets super busy
Pro's:
- very well maintained area, restrooms and showers
- good price: 10pp for day parking or 50pp pn
- nice walk to the church (5km/ 1h returntrip) and beautiful hike to the volcano (20km/ 7h) which you can do without guide if you follow maps.me/ the marks on the stones/hiking-fit!

One of several indigenous Indian ecotourist centers in the Uruapan area located off Hwy 37 free road. Sign directs to Volcan Paricutin. Pretty clean place with restaurant and mirador where you can see Paricutin and it's newer companion volcano from the restaurant mirador. Stayed in basuc cabana (300 pesos/night) with electricity and water. Large area for campsites as well. I took a guide and walked to the San Juan church about 1 hour away which was destroyed by Paricutin in the past. You can also do by horseback. Bathrooms on premise.

Great place, very well maintained. On request they prepare a cabaña for you for a hot shower and even offer soap and towels for free. Still MEX$ 50 pppn.
Down to the church it's an easy stroll, you neither need a horse nor a guide. You can even drive down there by car (see 'Volcán Paricutin II' for details) or take a taxi from the village of Angahuan. Try to be there alone down at the church for a while; it's a magic place. To the summit of the volcano you can drive too (see corresponding entry).

This is not to be missed! Paid 100p per night for two people. No hookups. Parked on the hill under the trees. Had palapa, trash, fire pit, bathrooms and hot showers (had to request). Huge plates of food from restaurant.
Rode horses to buried church (excellent) $450p for 2 with guide. 3 hour trip. Are amazing blue corn quesadillas out there.
Walked the village to look around and spend a little money. Felt safe and comfortable.
The streets may be a challenge for a really long or tall rig. We had no trouble at 11ft in tuck camper. But if you can get through town, there is plenty of room here.
NOTE: The horsemen will chase you through town trying to book your business. Even if you tell them NO.

Great place to camp - almost like being the hills in the US! Costs 50P per person, and they will let you shower in a cabaña.

Toilets are fine - clean and unsmelly. Only downside is no toilet seats.

Hike to volcano is challenging but rewarding. It took us about 6 hours round trip, and we paid 500P for two people. Don't expect English speaking as Spanish is their second language. Definitely worth doing for the fit and healthy, or you can do via horses and scramble up the crater on foot. Do not attempt without a guide!!

Great place to relax for a few days in a beautiful setting. Overnight camping was 100 pesos per night within the Centro turistico which means little privacy but it was fine at this time of the year as we were the only people around. Restaurant is quite nice and well priced, with a beautiful view of the volcano and surrounding mountains.

We paid 100mx for one night. Only campers but some of the cabanas were full. Bathrooms fine if basic and gorgeous hike to the buried church. Lots of locals in traditional dress in the village

A wonderfully peaceful part of michoacan and an interesting Indian village. The women dress in traditional style full of color and sequence, though reserved we were treated well. The view from the restaurant is spectacular we watched the sun set behind the mountains and spent hours just enjoying the view of the volcano (We ended up staying 5 nights) There are horseback tours available to both the church (partially burried by lava) and the volcano, we chose to walk to the church and take a tour to the volcano. We had a fantastic tour with our guide Enrique.

We paid 100 to camp at the tourist center. They said the most level spot is the parking lot but we found a nice level spot off in the trees. We spoiled ourselves and took a long, 8hr, horse and hike trip up the volcano and to the ruins, cost 1000, really lovely guide names Joaquin. You can do just the ruins for 500 on horse or free (I believe) to hike out. Nice hot showers though you have to ask them to open/turn them on for you.

Camping in the parking lot of the Centro Turistico. Bathrooms are quite "rustico", but clean. Right next to the square is the trailhead to the church in the petrified lava (about 45 minutes / route).
