The many tracks to the beach proof that this is a popular destination for Peruvians. Overlooking the ocean we watched a beautiful sunset and spent a quiet night.

By Alfons Huber in PanAm Travelers FB "TRAVEL WARNING PERU:Just a few days ago was an armed robbery 20km north of Huacho. The German couple camped on the beach when three masked men with loaded pistols smash the windows and tried to robb these guys. Fortunately they could drive off and no one got really hurt. The camping spot was at: S 10.88521, W 77.70171 also visible on iOverlander. This was not the first robbery of overlanders in this area and the police highly recommends not to camp alone anywhere on these cliffs."
Report Check-InWe were attacked here in the evening of October 14, 2015, by three armed bandits. With a pistol they smashed two of our windows. We did not open the door and managed to escape without being harmed. We were lucky. This place definitely is NOT safe. Lots of fishermen hanged around during the day-time. Too many people knew that we were there. Police later confirmed that assaults here are not unusual.
