Latest Check-Ins

The parking lot across from Hotel El Portal no longer lets people sleep in their rigs overnight in the parking lot. The people working at reception at Hotel El Portal were friendly and helpful at suggesting alternative places to park for the night. We didn’t stay at Hotel El Portal, so I can’t comment on their facilities.

Great deal to stay in Cobàn. Cheap parking lot with space enough for big rigs (mine is 25feet). 20Q per night. Walking distance to center town. Wi-fi available if you kindly ask to the owner (he lives onsite).

This is a good spot to camp. The owner of the parking lot lives on site and allows you to use his WiFi and will string you an electrical cord if you like. He has an outside water facet to top up your water also. It is close to the downtown core.

50q a night to dry camp. grassy parking area, nice guy on the property. a bit of noise from bars, but not too late. might be able to use the toilet across the street, shower not included with price.

We were told that they no longer allow camping in the parking lot. We paid Q85 for a room (2 people and a small dog) plus an additional Q10 to park. I'm sure there would be some negotiating room, as the room door says 2 person Q70. There is WiFi but not on the most secure system. Bathroom and kitchen are communal so not that clean.

parked here to camp for a night before Semuc Champey, 40Q for 2 people in a camper. it wasn't the quietest night ever, but all you need is earplugs.
to store it in the lot he wanted 40Q per night as well. as long as all is well when we get back (safe/undamaged) I'd say it is worth the 40Q

Stayed two nights here, once before heading to Semuc Champey, and then once more on our way from Semuc to Antigua. For a parking lot in the city it's quiet enough; the bars/restaurants around do play some music, but it never went all night or was unbearably loud with earplugs in.

There are no longer any signs on the parking lot's gate, so do be aware of that. We just rang the hotel's buzzer and asked if they offered sleeping in our vehicle and the young guy said sure and showed me into the parking lot across the street. We paid Q50/night.

The lot fills up overnight with vehicles of people who I assume live in the area and pay for secure parking. The gate is locked at around 21:00, and is unlocked at around 7:00. There is a very friendly man who lives in a building in the lot who offered us electricity and gave us some bananas.

We weren't able to snag wifi using the password mentioned in the other comments ('
[passwords are not allowed unless explicitly permited by the owner]
'), but we did go to Casa D'Acuna cafe right down the street one morning to use their wifi/bathrooms and grab some coffee which is surprisingly very inexpensive.

In the morning I asked if I could use the hotel's bathroom, and he let me free of charge, but I didn't shower (which he asked about).

Overall I would stay again.

Parked our vehicle here for one night whilst we went out to semuc champey. it cost 20Q to leave the vehicle there. we then caught the collectivos to lanquin. we camped here for one night which was 20Q, no electricity. it cost an extra 10Q to use the showers per person.

Allowed us to park overnight and stay in our rig. Charged us 20q. Also let us plug in the entire time we were here (4 nights). We tipped him a little extra. We also had access to water at back of property. Carlos brought us a bunch of bananas and a melon the day before we left. He was super nice and helpful. We arranged a day trip to Semuc Champey from here. We went across the street to Hotel Don Rafa and had a beer, got their Wi-Fi password and it worked in the lot here: RESTAURANTE.
