Latest Check-Ins

Checked this place out as an option - definitely a no-go for us. Long, terrible road and kind of overgrown and rustic at the camp area. Probably ok for a van type vehicle but not an option for any kind of RV of any size. Very quiet, remote location. Owner seemed pleasant.

Report Check-In

Still nice. But not perfectly groomed anymore. Facilities quite tired and smelly.. Only solarpower, just enough for charging cellphones. Paid 200 Pesos p.P....quite overpaid for what you get. Beware of scorpions!

Report Check-In

beautiful little spot had no issues getting there with my Ford Transit. Hosts were super nice. 200 p.p. seems steep, but it's a great location well worth it. They have kayaks for rent as well, I believe they were 200 for the full day. They offer drinks and food as well. The toilets and showers were decent and clean as well. They also offer free wifi, never asked whether they had water to fill the van.
all in all great night spent

Report Check-In

Nice enough, but nothing special for the price. Maybe we are spoiled because Panto Ha at the south end of the Laguna is much nicer and also cheaper. We decided not to stay here because the pitches were narrow, not flat and no grass, the toilets were not particularly clean and with no paper or soap provided, and the lake access wasn’t as nice as other places along the lake. The (very pleasant and friendly) owner wanted 200pppn and 100 per kid. But to be clear, there is nothing ‘wrong’ with it, and if you particularly want to be at the north of the lake then it may be the best choice. The lake is amazing.

really amazing place, highly recommended!
we came during off season and the place was officially close but Veronica the owner was super nice and let us stay with her, we cooked in her kitchen, set with her to great talks all night and hear about the place and the area,
a great getaway from the tourist flow of bacalar. the laguna is great for swimming, the place is real jungle with great accommodations, shower and toilets are clean. there is also cabanas for rent but we stayed in our van for 150pp.

at the second day Veronica went for her vacation but she already knew us and saw we are responsible travelers so she actually let us stayed alone in her property and we took care for the dogs and cats! we had the whole place to ourselves which was like a dream!!

important to know that usually Veronica is away around September October, low season. we were lucky to catch her right before she go and she was super nice, informative, helpful and an interesting good person to have a talk with.

go there!!

This is the place to escape all the crowds at Laguna Bacalar. We had this beautiful place all to ourselfes. When we called the second number on ioverlander Victoria was really nice and gave us a discount for the low season. The price was 150 pesos per person in a tent. It's a little expensive but worth it for us. We could use the kitchen and fridge and had a very quiet night there. The lady looking after the place cleaned the bathroom for us. Everything seemed well maintained. We enjoyed the sunset and sunrise and swimming in the Laguna. Big recommendation:)

Very nice parking space right on the lagoon. 200 pesos per person. The approach road is relatively narrow. There are low hanging branches. We just got through with our truck 3.45 m high. 60m before the location shown here, the street on the left goes to this location. You can also turn right here. After about 150m you will find another beautiful place on the left. Look at both of them. It is worth it ..
Everything is propper and clean.

Schaut beide an. Es lohnt sich.

small resort at North end of Lake Bacalar. Sewer, water, no electricity. we made it down the road (slowly) but without scratches to speak of in our 24 ft, 12 ft high rv. had our dog with but owners dogs barked pretty constantly when he was out or when he was in and they came to our RV. paid 250 p/night for 2 people. Bathrooms pretty dirty and often non-flushing. Down by beach and castes it is pretty and of course the lake is beautiful, but the campsites are in the trees. nice to get shade but BUGS BUGS BUGS. The manager seems a bit overwhelmed with the operation and wasn't very friendly....at all. too bad, the place has potential and is very quiet. Also large tree down on the road which is only way out. Some great people did come to clear it out so only about an hour wait. Not sure I would recommend this place. sorry.

Can't really see why so many overlanders have ended up here. If you drive little bit more southyou can find couple of real gems right on the lake. This is ok place. Nothing special. Long dirt road with low hanging trees.

Report Check-In

We made the way in with 12 ft / 3,70 m height, but to be honest, we had to cut branches and got scratches. In the meantime we don't care about them. Don't do it, if you can damage something on your roof. It's really a nice spot in middle of the nature, totally quit and swimming in the lagune is gorgeous. You can rent a canoe as well. Be aware that the sites don't have seaview because of the mangroves. Camping is 125 Pesos p.P. and you have to take your garbage with you. Dirty toilets when we arrived and weren't cleaned within the 3 days we had been there. You can eat in the cozy restaurant, probably you have to order in advance. No much people there. Veronica speaks English and is very welcoming.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot, large, shady sites with water. No electric, WIFi or cell reception. Clean restaurant with great coffee and hand squeezed OJ. Okay bathrooms, no hot water. For peace and quiet, it's top notch. She charges for kids, too, FYI. Long dirt road is in good shape but though the spots are large enough for big RVs you may clear some branches driving back there.

Camp in a jungle garden on a sparkling lake! Owner is refurbishing this campground. Sewer and non potable water at sites. Hard pack camp sites. We were the only ones here. Great stargazing. Restaurant not open and being remodeled expanded. Call Veronica to see if the restaurant is open yet. The turn to the lake is well marked by big sign near micron days. If you are driving from N and your GPS tells you to turn left into a r side till neighborhood, ignore it, (you will eventually be stopped by a lock d gate) stay on highway to mcriwave tower and your GPS will find the main way in.

Wir kamen recht spät und hofften ein paar Tage bleiben zu können. Doch 100 Peso pro Person und 50 Peso pro Hund (für welchen Service?) waren uns leider zu viel für diesen Platz. Sorry.

It is open again. Veronica is there, renovations are ongoing. Had no problems with our height of 2.90m, much higher could be problem. No wifi.

Report Check-In

When we arrived the place was abandoned. The new operator, Veronica, hopes to be up and running by January 2016 At this time you can stay there. If no one is around, go to the north property F 27 and talk to Fritz, the former owner. The 2 mile drive in from the highway is very overgrown and we did sustain damage to our camper which is 3.2 m high. NO BIG RIGS, no way.
Be prepared to jack camp. Great swimming. Fantastic setting on Lake Bacalar.

Getting run down. Still has great washrooms and hot showers. Lake is beautiful. 75 peso per person per night. Still has lots of charm.

Report Check-In

Place deserted when we arrived and very run down, but toilets clean and showers hot. What was the restaurant is now just used as a camp kitchen. Women comes in the morning to clean bathrooms and kitchen. We were told they get very people here.

Report Check-In

- 75 pesos per person
- water, flushing toilets, hot showers, no electricity at all (apart from the restaurant, which is solar powered)
- very nice location, palapas, hamakas free to use, kayaks available for rent (30 pesos/hour, 70 pesos/day)
- parking not directly at the lake, but close enough
- the rain season (2013) has been really rainy, so there was a lot more water in the lake and it didn't have that blue color, but it was still clear
- annoying biting flies, cover your ankles and toes!

Report Check-In

Beautiful pitch at the Laguna Bacalar. Has showers (were a bit dirty) and toilet. Water also there, no electricity! 150Pesos cost for the 2 of us. Canoe and palapas were not included for that price. We found it a little pricey and was formerly with the old owners cheaper. Carlos, the new owner (German-Mexicans) is very nice and also has a restaurant there which is operated by solar power.
The bungalows with double bed cost 500Pesos/night, but this one has then the canoe and a palapa. If you take even 400Pesos/Bungalow/night 2 bungalows.
In the main street at point N 18.95467 ° W 88.17005 ° turn direction lagoon and take somewhat ugly road to camping.

Report Check-In

One of the nicest campsites in Mexico. Perfectly groomed garden right at the turquoise lake with jetties. Water / wastewater at site. No power on the campsite. The rental of canoes is already included in the rate. During our stay in June, the Tábanos - Mexican horseflies - were a pain, otherwise we would have stayed longer.

Who ever has German books should definitely visit the neighbors Elke and Rainer for book exchange! The two have been living here for many years and have operated the campground until September 2011.
