Description

Camping for the surf spot Nine Palms. Quite a popular spot, some people stay here for months on end. If you stay in the carpark, you need a 4x4.

No facilities, can get pretty windy here on occasion, as with all of Baja.

Latest Check-Ins

Too sandy for a 2wd. Even turning around was tough.

Report Check-In

Nice place right on the beach. Not so many places to park if you don’t have 4WD. Crowded, some seems there for the winter. There was 7 to 11 while we were there. 11 is the most that can fit on hard pack sand. Beautiful sunrise. The waves are soft. You must go at high tide because of the rocky bottom. There was a lot of surfers on Saturday, quiet the other days. Whales in the back. Garbage cans were full but someone can to pick it up while we were there.

As we say in México when we experience something wonderful: ¡Chingooon!
Soft sand and nice waves. We saw some surfers doing their thing and whales casually passing by. It was a peaceful night full of stars. I would definitely have stayed for longer but couldn't. ¡Viva México! ✌🏽

This is a lovely beach. The sand texture is perfect, the waves are constant. People seem to come here for surfing, and while there are people, views are still those of a desolate beach. There are trash cans and they weren't overflowing while we were here, so the trash pick up is active. There is a sign about not driving on the beach, picking up after your dog, and general beach cleanliness. Sand is ok if you stay off the beach, at the top. If you come from the North, the washboard is pretty bad, we lowered tire pressure to try to make it easier on the car.

No obstructions on Starlink. Got 70 Mbps down, 20 Mbps up and a bit higher ping of 100 ms that's prob due to which server I was using to test.

Love this spot! Beautiful beach and a great spot to practice surfing! There’s a place right up from the beach that offers surfboard rentals. We also saw whales nonstop here!

It was pretty populated when we first got there there (~ 10 rigs) but then cleared out to just two rigs after the weekend. Plenty of space and options to be more protected from wind in the arroyo.

Great spot to hang out on the east cape! Lots of surfers in the morning and some nice easy waves.

Report Check-In

Oh waw!! Perfect place for easy surf. The waves are long and easy to catch. The vibe of this place is very chill, we loved it. Unfortunately we could just stay one night.
The road to get there is a very very long sand washboard in certain places... Not in very good shape but take your time and it worth it. I suggest you take the paved road that goes to Zacatitos and then you will have about 10km to do on the sand road.

Super nice spot to camp. One of our best spot right on the beach.
There is some surf for beginner to advanced.
No telcel

Soft sand when you get off the little road. No bathrooms (not a lot of places to go either and slightly littered with TP). Trashcans overflowing. Somewhat of a party crowd the night we were there, though apparently it was empty the night before. Free to park. Whale watching was delightful.

Stayed here for two nights and were treated to constant whale action. Popular with surfers and nomads alike. Check out the tidal pools which are about 100 yards south of the camping lot. Some of them have sandy bottoms and you can bath in them at low-mid tide. Only amenities is garbage cans which fill up quickly. No cell service on ATT. FREE!!!

Sand is super soft and deep. We have 4WD, but my husband and I spent an hour stuck… and the tide was coming up. We were saved by a few locals who helped push our vehicle and get us back on the road. Be smart and stay on the packed sand near the openings to the roads!

Still epic! White Lodge hotel offers wifi and bougey breakfasts within walking distance. Enter at arroyo before main entrance for a kind community of overlanders. Fun surf for beginners and pros alike. No services. Beware of the soft spot right in the middle of the parking area!

Report Check-In

GREAT PLACE FOR OVERLANDING! This beach is awesome with a great overlanding community, only downfall is no service. There is a beautiful hotel/restaurant within walking distance though for those who NEED WiFi. Long dirt road gets you there just be careful, it is doable tho for sure!

Report Check-In

the house owner/ butler Victor behind the bushes on the beach has apparently the Zofomet concession for the beach in front of his house
They are going to block off the beach with rocks and remove the trash facility from in front of HIS house. be aware if you overnight there you may be disturbed Hes started by errecting tents and old furniture in front ! which really adds to the beauty of this place

Great beach camping spot! Accessible for our 2WD van, but you'll have more options in a 4x4. The surf was great during our stay, it is rocky but not dangerous (there's even kids surf lessons) just be careful of the jellyfish and sea urchins! This spot does get really busy, mostly for the surf, but everyone was really nice and we got all good vibes. There are bins here but no other facilities and no phone service. Safe and cool spot, worth the stay!

Stayed here for three days! Awesome little community of people in all kinds of rigs and tent camping.

Report Check-In

Line up and beach parking gets crowded when the waves are on. Rocky and sea urchins. Pretty sweet little spot. No amenities, but plenty of places to dig your own. Trash recycle and compost down the way at the other nine palms, just a walk away.

Report Check-In

Nice camping at Nine Palms Beach along East Cape Road, which sandy and bumpy, but fine for all kind of RV if you drive slow. 2 WD is ok to go the parking area directly at the ocean. The beach itself has very soft sand and you will need 4 WD if you want to drive there. At low tide there are two nice Sea Arches just south of the parking lot.

Report Check-In

Nice spot. Busy with surfers. The road is in a state of disrepair. We made it with our 2wd van but it wasn’t much fun. & a large portion was missing after the rain storm last night requiring a bit of off-road.

Report Check-In

Camped here for three nights. Beautiful spot right on a great wave. There were a few other mellow people around also camping, and a good amount of day beachgoers – especially on weekend days. The sand does get deep, so stay on the hard pack and make sure you bring a source of shade. The sun is intense.

Beautiful beach, great for surfing, we stayed here for four days. Many people camped here regularly, it felt safe. No facilities or trash bins. Bring food and water. There is a taco stand on the entrance, they were good. No telcel signal in the whole area, we came from Cabo Pulmo and that's the last time we had signal. There is a hotel nearby, Vidasoul, where they have wifi. Many surfing options in the area.

Report Check-In

We spent a whole week here in our van. Incredible spot and fun surf! Most people camp at the entrance with the signs next to the road but the best spot is the entrance before it, coming from Cabo San Jose. 2 permanent US refugees, otherwise only day visitors here. Be careful of the sand in this bay as it’s no good for 2WD, stay near the fence line go no further :)

Friendly fellow campers, felt safe, great spot to surf and hang out. I wished I had more time to stay a whole week. Muy tranquillo!

Super soft sand - I got stuck driving onto the beach (with AWD and good clearance vehicle). No facilities and unfortunately not everyone is following the 'leave no trace' when it comes to burying waste in the upland across the road.....although that may have been aggravated by the Semana Santa crowds the weekend before.

Report Check-In

Nine Palms is awesome. We only wanted to stay one or two nights but ended up staying there 5 nights! Awesome spot for surfing and chilling at the beach. A lot of other campers there too. - felt save all the time! No service but up the street is a hotel where you can get free wifi if you need! If you wanna camp on the sand 4x4 is needed but you can also park in the parking lot and camp there.

Report Check-In

Great beach spot with surf and snorkeling. Many campers had been here for months and everyone was very friendly. No amenities, but there is a restaurant up the dirt road that has Internet and somewhat expensive food. There are some dogs guarding the properties on the way in and we were told they were dangerous, so just be aware if you camp near the entrance.

Report Check-In

No facilities, but nice spot at the beach.
